Decent reel for the new fishermen on my sled. That is the self wind will keep the line strait. Also a low price for this quality. Like my expensive reels, this one is light. Unlike my thousand dollar rod and reels, this one is very low cost. it also seams to be built decently. Certainly the right reel to place in the hands of those who might drop it over the side. That and I have caught 80 pound bluefin tuna on the same but made years earlier Pen level wind.

Came in estimated time , brand new and sealed without any box damage. Reel feels smooth , solid and very good looking, levelwind is the weak spot on all levelwind reels but on this one is moving slowly and it seems stronger than evereryone other reel that i own. 4 Stars because is made in China and levelwind gears are plastic (like every other levelwind reel) , time will tell about durability. Consumption, a very good and reliable reel for a good price!

I chose the Penn Squall Reel because I have used Penn Reels all my life salt water fishing. They have always met my expectations and brought home the fish. Its light weight, strong and good looking. The price is about half the price of some of the Japanese reels and I know Penn will always be there if I need a part or service. I'm currently using my Penn Squall 30 tuna fishing off the coast of Mexico.

No real complaints here (pun). The real is solid built, has a generous line capacity and can crank in decent sized fish. I caught a 6ft blacktip from the beach with it without any fear of losing the fish. Cant cast them hardly at all though, meant for trolling. I paddled my baits from the beach with a kayak, so they worked fine for beach fishing that way.

Haven't used it on the water yet but have been over the entire rig. Its a beautiful piece of workmanship. Smooth, effortless and very sturdy. Update, finally got to use the rig, absolutely love it !! Smooth and strong. Very happy with it. Will buy another soon.

I bought two of these to go on some custom made poles my Dad made over 40 years ago. Put both of them to the test fishing for Rock Cod, Ling Cod, sheepshead and other deep water fish. They performed outstanding.

Works great, but didnt blow my mind. I use it trolling for salmon in santa cruz, spooled with 40 # mono. The reel is too big for anything besides sitting in rod holder trollin. Handles 20 # salmon no problem

Love the price I got this one, will shop for myself when I see the sale on this again. I bought this for my uncle in New Zealand he is very excited and I will spool it and ship it to him soon.

I use the squall 15 for fluke porgy and sea bass I love tree reel I pair them with ugly stik tiger lite elite and big water. I use the 20 and 30s for striped bass best reel ever.

Perfect for the use intended. Bought two of these and they are typical high quality Penn reels. The price was excellent and the vendor shipped promptly with quick delivery.

Great reel, I've got 300yds of 80lb POWER PRO on it works great on Halibut in the Kachemak Bay and Lower Cook Inlet of Alaska. Very smooth and sure winding great gear ratio

This is a Great Rockfish Reel. Been using it every weekend since the West Coast Rockfish opening in March and it has performed perfectly. Geat Reel.

Awesome reel! pulled 18lb red snapper from 150 ft, on 40 lb test, just one of a few. The reel worked perfectly each and every time.

First impression..Beautiful! Very nice reel. I ordered 2 Squall 30's. They both came with the saddles. Smooth operating.
