I cannot compare this to similar cutters from other brands as I have previously used hacksaws to cut outers and pliers for cable. I frequently renew the outer near my rear mech as the friction levels take no time to build up in that area on my bike (probably suffering from using cheap parts). This tool cuts really cleanly in a fraction of the time it takes to use alternative tools and I now consider it to be an essential tool for anyone doing DIY on their daily commuter. I have used other Park tools (stand, chain whip) I was really surprised to see this tool on Amazon for such a low price (~20GBP) so snapped it up.I might have hesitated a price closer to the RRP but the other Park tools I have were well worth a little extra money.

I needed some wire cutters to trim some thick tensile wires that came with a set of mudguards I was trying to fit. I had been to a couple of cycle shops and they had lent me wire cutters similar to these, but I wanted to get a pair myself as I needed to make further adjustments/trimming.Although these cutters are designed for brake cable and casing, they also do work on the mudguard wire, though it requires a lot of effort. That said they did the job and I was very happy with these cutters. In terms of cutting through brake cable, they cut it like a knife through butter! Also found the built in crimper very handy for attaching caps to the ends of the brake cable.

Definitely worth owning, I got mine from a local retailer sometime ago and they are still going strong and for me they are thus worth recommending an ideal investment for anyone that is looking to own a bike, swapping cables is maybe less common as fixing a puncture but as common or more for replacing tyres and even casual amateurs will soon feel the tool has repaid itself after a few rounds of maintenance & cycle tlc!!. simple put, it pays for itself in time alone after the 1st of 4 cables you may replace, not maybe in parts cost, but in time and frustration at damage and loss incurred through less reliable/lower quality or inappropriately used tools.

In the past, to cut the cable housing I've tried wire cutters, pliers - the cutter bit - and even a hammer and cold chisel which works quite well if you clout it straight and hard enough! So I bought this item for a bit of variety and what a simple and effective tool. It slices through the housing cleanly and effortlessly, the cable itself was a doddle and then not forgetting the crimper for closing the cable cap. So worth the expense and it just shows when you have the right kit the job is so so much easier. Recommended without caveat.

This cuts through cables with ease. I've used it so far to cut through some bicycle brake cables and a thick, standing lamp mains cable that had been damaged by an unruly rabbit that needed chopping, stripping (not the rabbit...) and re soldering. The clip is useful to keep it together in the storage box and the bit below the snippers can be used to crimp bicycle cable ends which is a very handy feature. I like the feel of this in my hand and the metal part feels solid. Hoping this will last a lifetime.

Used this on my restoration of my Vespa Scooters and it's done a fantastic neat job of cutting them off at the ends. Very neat. I had originally tried to make do with my metal snips but after ruining the end of my clutch cable I decided to invest in these. I also bought some of those soft alloy top hats to crimp on the cut ends to stop them fraying and this tool as crimped them on a treat. Glad I've got them. I can't comment on any other brands of cable cutters but these look and feel very good.

Bought a cheap pair for around £8 which went straight in the bin, didn't cut so much as chew. Hey ho, buy cheap buy twice, I am an idiot. Read some of the reviews of this tool and bought it on the strength of the positive comments. Glad I did because it cut very cleanly though some 3mm braided steel cable and left a lovely finish for the end cap which I used the cutters for crimping on. Job done. I can safely put these cutters away in my toolbox and not the garbage bin!

This is an excellent tool. You get what you pay for, me thinks. After reviewing several makes of a rope cable-cutting tool, this came out on top. So I bought it and was not disappointed. Not only does it cut through bike cables with ease, it also had no problem cutting the brake cable housing too. Thus the rear brakes on my mountain bike were fixed in no time. Extremely pleased with this product and very highly recommended.

I was looking for a reliable, top quality but affordable cable cutter and although I only wanted to spend £20 at the most I decided to pay a little extra and I'm pleased I did. Straight out of the box they cut through my replacement gear cable no problem at all and saying as I've only replaced one cable on my MTB in 2 years I expect this Park Tool cutter to last a very long time. Very pleased with my purchase :-)

Made of drop forgings and finished to high standard. I like how its spring loaded, that does make it nice to work with. It can be disassembled making it easier (possible) to sharpen when that day comes. Only thing I worry about is that I'll cut something when the screw aren't tight, that could damage it. If u only want to cut wire, this might be a little to big for u!? But make no mistake this is a QUALITY tool!

Superb 'Rolls Royce' quality as you'd expect from PT. This is the mk2 version of this tool that they have made for many years. This is what you need to carefully cut brake and gear cables and outers cleanly and squarely and without grief. It also has a crimping section for squash the ends of the cable tidies, etc. Highly recommended and actually a good price for the quality you get in return.

quality cutting tool. I used for fancy metal outer brake cable sleeve that wire cutters and pliers made a squished mess of. These cut through the outer and brake cable easily and I also used them on mudguard stays - they cut through the metal successfully but make sure your thumbs are not between the levers! Normal wire cutters and the cutting bit on pliers are useless compared to these.

Been using these for a while, cuts through cables with ease and leaves a clean cut with no fraying, after spending years struggling with snipper pliers these are much better. Quite expensive but if you do a lot of maintenance on your bikes then I would say these are a worthy investment. Also cut through other parts such as spokes etc. easily so could be used for many other DIY jobs.

Can't say I have owned many cable/housing cutters in my time on earth but I have attempted to use various pliers in the past for the same task and this tool is waaaaay better. If you have to fit cabling to your bike more than once or twice this tool is perfect and will make your life so much easier. Expensive but well made and works well.If it was £5 less I'd give it 5 stars.

Brilliant ! Highly recommend that you buy a pair of these cutters. The name Park Tool guarantees quality but I cant rate these cutters too highly. These cutters snip through cables easily and cleanly, leaving a very neat end.. These cutters aren't cheap! But the quality is well worth the price.Don't faff about trying to make do with disappointing results . Get a pair.
