Ok, so I've owned these for about 5 months now and I have to review them. They're amazing, and I want to walk through what makes these bags so great.Every detail of these bags is considered. They are fully waterproof, we filled it full of water and with the top rolled down properly no water leaked out, even when turning upside down. The material is very strong and feels to be good quality. The bag comes with reflective patches on the side to catch the attention of cars, and stuffing stuff into these bags they always seems to keep their profile and don't bulge out too much. How these lock onto the pannier frame is genius. The plastic frame ensures the pannier bags don't sag and give a good structural integrity which allows easy lifting on and off the frame. The handle unlocks the clips when lifted and when dropped onto the frame automatically lock on, ensuring this bag won't fall off when sat in the frame. Having two bikes with different style panniers, the ability to adjust the position of all three clips allows me to put the bag in the optimal position using only an Allen key and they hold an incredible amount of weight. I've carried crates of beer in these, overloaded them with heavy shopping and one time I didn't clip it on right and found it was holding a load somewhat comfortably in a single clip. Over 5 months of daily abuse I'd have forgiven some damage.I love the roll down flap, it's simple with little to break. The bag is designed with loops either side to accommodate a shoulder strap - sadly, sold separately, and I think this can be used in conjunction with the rat pack?Anyway, you won't be disappointed if you buy these bags.

Before picking up these bags -- on the recommendation of a bike-commuter friend -- I'd thought there were only two options: Get bags that go on and off easy, but aren't very secure, or get secure bags that are a hassle to mount and dismount. The back-roller city model not only mounts faster than anything I've used before, but it's absolutely secure on the rear carrier.I'm also impressed by the flexibility of the mounting points. The lower mount, which looks like a grin in the product pix, can actually be reversed so the curve is upside-down -- although for this you will need the proper Torx driver. The two clips at the top, attached to the carry handle, are on tracks and can be moved fore and aft to fit your rack. It's hard to imagine a rack that these bags can't easily be fitted to. And although I've yet to carry this bag in the rain, I'd be absolutely confident carrying my laptop to work inside it.Perhaps best of all, the materials and workmanship seem to be topnotch. You do get that new-rubber-swimming pool smell for the first day or so, but this is quickly gone. And the reflectors on the sides of the bag are big, and bright.

Came just fine and a little earlier than expexted. They are large and spacious panniers, extremely adjustable, completely waterproof, and will be very sturdy after you adjust it to your rack. I was worried my heel would hit them while I biked, but I've adjusted them to allow considerable leeway for my feet. Its also effortless to remove them; thoughtful construction! One of the cheaper ortliebs I've found, and by no means of lesser quality because of it! Although I have yet to tour with them, I am very comfortable with the buy.Only setbacks: from handling, it got one or two small scrapes. Only a rubbing on the glossy surface. It'd take a LOT more than handling to actually break these things. Also, this is a simpler version than the back roller classic pannier, which I found to be a bit more expensive. Personally I don't think these extras are very necessary. These panniers seem more than adequate for touring across the country (my intention with these!) without the extras. Great purchase! As I've expected from ortlieb...

Ok I did a lot of reaseach before purchasing the Ortlieb City Panniers. These bags are wonderful, they fit my Bike like a glove though I was a little concerened about security because they do gone and off very easily. The little grin hook changed my mind about that, though I never leave my bike alone with the Panniers on it. The material is thick well waterproof I can fit a weeks worth of groceries in the bags. My computer and other tech gear fits without crowding. There aren't any inside pockets but I prefer it that way. I will be purchasing the shoulder straps from Ortlieb. I can't recommend them enough!

I commute to work on my bike and needed something waterproof and durable. I was worried that only using one bag would make the bike handle differently but my fears were unfounded. Changing from a backpack to using a pannier was a world of difference and made the ride much nicer. The bags are 100% waterproof and surprisingly roomy. The only downside is that they're a bit of a pain to carry when off the bike and loaded full (ie with groceries) as the handle position/centre of gravity makes them hit your legs as you're carrying them, but really that's just a minor nitpick.

I have bought these for a 9 week cycle tour that I'm going on. I haven't actually used them yet but I was able to get so much stuff in there it's unbelievable. The way the y're designed is incredibly user friendly and I was able to fit the following into 1 bag: 4 pairs of socks, 4 pairs of underwear, 3 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs of tracksuit bottoms, 4 t shirts, a jumper, some cycling shorts, a cycling jersey, 2 gas cannisters, a cooking pot, kettle, a bowl and cutlery. And honestly if I squished the items down more I could probably get some more in.

Best commuting bag ever! Easy in, easy out. Bone dry. It mounts and dismounts very easily. I liked it better than the Ortlieb Classic which requires rolling and buckling. I had two Ortlieb Classic bags break because the buckles broke and they are sewn in such a way that repairs were not possible. This bag uses a zip-lock that has been dependable so far. THe proof will be in the durability. The Classics only lasted one year.

Very pleased with these. Perfectly big enough for my commute and upcoming cycle holiday - no need to go for the larger and more expensive back roller classic. Slightly disappointed though with the quality of the plastic fittings, especially the add ins for thinner rack bars which broke the first time I used them although to be honest it's absolutely fine without them. Other than that perfect, a great purchase.

I was really happy with these panniers. I can see why they are the industry leader, the material is really thick and I'm sure it's going to last a long time. It's worth mentioning that these panniers do NOT come with a shoulder strap as I was expecting. After looking on the Ortlieb website however, these models do not get supplier with them. They do have the fixings though to fit one separately.

27.7.2013

I have not used them yet but looking at the construction, it is well made. The panniers should withstand any conditions you may find yourself in. To improve its versatility, shoulder straps were purchased from another supplier as Ortlieb were quite expensive.I intend using them in the coming month and should be able to give a better assessment on its performance.

2.8.2019

The panniers are good, waterproof, great space, however, the adjustable clips are not easy to adjust and this makes hanging them on the rack cumbersome and time consuming, the newer version is much easier and more convenient. That said for the price they are good value and if you are not riding over very bumpy ground you will not need to adjust on the move.

I use these for bike commuting.they hold enough for my computer bag on one side, and all my exercise/biking gear on the other.good build quality.a bit difficult to mount, they could have easily done better.overpriced, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of competition for high quality water proof pannier bags.

29.1.2016

Well made and sturdy. I was initially concerned the bags would not be big enough. In fact they can ably accommodate lap top and the collections of text books and exercise books needed for a school teacher, and even extend to cope with picking up the shopping. Now colleagues all want one. Nice work!

5.11.2015

You cant fault these they are totally waterproof as i was riding with these in torrential rain for over 2 hoursthe insides were bone dry the water just bounces off these. The only minusd to these is you cant lock them so nobody can access themas there are no securing points for padlock

10.12.2016

These are excellent good quality. Very easy to lift off the bike. Water proof. Securely shut and securely attach to the bike....they look like they are built to last. I haven't used the full to capacity yet but I'm sure they will do that job just as well for my touring in the summer.
