I use it 24/7 in an extremely high-crime, high-theft, in particular bicycle-theft, area, where police storm adjacent buildings in groups of 8 armed with submachine guns and three dogs (in the United Kingdom), infested with heroine addicts.On another occasion I saw someone out my window punching someone around to interrogate him about how his bike got nicked; the assailant went in the adjacent building with the back of his head burned/scraped raw, victorious with his bicycle.That's the kind of area I live in. And this lock has served me well to protect a bicycle I bought for around £340 at an ordinary bicycle shop, one that people think is really valuable because they see me maintaining it and being a serious cyclist with five panniers,

I bought a new bike for my commute to work in Central London and wanted an ultra secure portable lock. I used to use a single U lock and a cable, but after watching YouTube videos of how easy it is to snip through a cable, I opted to up my security. I use a Kryptonite U lock on the front wheel and this Chain to lock up the frame and rear wheel - I read that it's better to use two different types of locks as thieves rarely carry tools to defeat two different kinds of locks.This lock is definitely heavy duty!! The weight is a bit of a challenge when going up hills (I keep my locks in my backpack) and have definitely noticed the added weight.But the proof is in the pudding - thieves targeted where I lock my bike at work and 4 bikes all got nicked at the same time and thrown in a truck.

Our garage was broken into this week, the door was completely wrecked by the thieves. We had attached two of our bikes to a ground anchor with this chain, they were left in the garage by the thieves, despite them having a bolt cutter (which we discovered discarded nearby). Finding that we checked the chain and could see where they must have tried to get through but failed. I'm sure an angle grinder would get through it, but anything shot of that and I don't think a thief would have a chance.Very heavy, I wouldn't take this with me to chain up anywhere, but for security at home it's amazing. £40 very well spent!

Excellent security for my mobility trike - It's so strong and heavy I can't see anyone even bothering to try it. Also, it came with spare keys which is always a bonus. The chain cover is excellent quality and will definitely prevent rust.Cautionary note: I ordered one that was way too long and it weighs a tonne so if you can get a shorter one to do the job that would be a good idea. The chain is so heavy and strong that by the time it arrived (really fast delivery) the box was burst.. Overall I'd give it 10 out of 10 though, would leave my very expensive trike anywhere using this lock.

After researching different chain types I went with this one as it has hexagonal links which so say are more resistant to bolt croppers.It's a heavy chain so best suited as a fixed form of security as in a shed/garage.Wouldn't fancy carrying it on a bike.The length us prefect for securing through an anchor and around several bikes.As with anything, a determined thief might get through it if they've got time. But hopefully with careful routing through bikes and strong anchor it might just put them off or at least make s Thief work for it!

This is an amazing chain lock, it's not really portable and as such I leave it where I lock my bike in work! That said it's not the heavy and being a chain will fit snugly into a bag, but I'd still recommend a unlock for mobility (short stays) purposes and this monster for long stays i.e during the work day! Had no issues with the lock mechanism however as with any lock it will no doubt seize if not looked after! Highly recommend!!!!!!!!

This is a great chain and padlock. A good balance of weight and security for smaller bikes in my opinion. I have been using it for around 3 months now on my Honda MSX125, would also be suitable for scooters. The loop feature gives you that extra bit of length when securing to bike racks etc. and the material of the padlock has a rubberized feel to avoid scratches to bodywork. I bought a small tailbag to store the chain while riding.

I've brought a few top brand locks in my time, This is the best I've ever brought. Looks very good security and the 5 keys is just great as I've lost a few of these and boy they are hard to replace. It's heavy but that's the price you pay if you want to stand a chance to keep your belongings. It's a good price you get a good lock. July 2019 Update still using this lock and still got my bike. All works as new.

Quality lock and chain, unlike most who have reviewed I actually take this with me wrapped around my push bike. It's extra weight for sure but can easily secure both wheels and frame around any pole or fence etc. Would recommend but be warned it might not be suitable for everyone as a portable lock!! Bulky and heavy but very sturdy. Also had to lubricate once but no big deal. The extra keys are a bonus too.

This is a heavy lock, it is long enough to go through the back wheel, frame a fairly chunky immovable object. When it is in use it serves as a massive deterrent, there are always easier targets. It could also be used in self defence, it's heavy, do not drop it on your foot.The key with the little light in it didn't work and you can't lock it without the key (this is a good thing).Did I say it's heavy?

This is some lock and chain, and then some more. It is VERY substantial, excellent quality, and will put any thief off stealing your bike.I done a lot of online research, reading reviews etc. and this set was highly recommended. I purchased it to lock my Electric bike, and I have no doubt that it will do the job. Also the Amazon price is 50% ( Yes 50%) less than other sellers.

Good value for money when compared to other options. Sold Secure Gold rated. No lock or chain provides complete protection so just make sure it covers your insurance requirements. Kryptonite are really no better and a lot more expensive. Its incredible how fast a thief can go through a lock with a cordless angle grinder!

Long enough for nearly every bike-securing scenario. But it is very bulky and heavy. It is not a nice thing to Have to carry in a backpack, and it feels a bit too heavy in a front basket.All that Size and weight means it Appears very secure: very effective In ensuring any thief looks for an easier target.

Excellent Lock Rated Gold Secure' and with the Cynch Loop design gives you far more ways to lock your bike making it really versatile I think it is a good lock for deterring thieves. And although fairly heavy it is not to heavy to carry on your person and its worth it to keep what is yours.

I KNOW THIS WILL KEEP THE BIKE SAFE, GREAT QUALITY AND SEVERAL KEYS TO LOCK IT, WE CAN ALL HAVE ONE. I WOULD RECOMMEND AS LONG AS YOU ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO PUT IT OVER YOUR SHOULDER TO CARRY IT WITH YOU. IT IS DESIGNED TO KEEP YOUR BIKE SAFE AND I WOULD SAY IT WILL.
