I bought this helmet along with the Nutcase bell of the same design last year. I was happy that they have these products that you can pair together. Back to the helmet -- This feels very comfortable in many ways. When you put it on, you feel that the helmet is hugging your head, and I mean that in a good way. It's a snug fit, not loose as other helmets tend to be. I just hate riding and feeling your helmet move around as you turn. This doesn't happen with this product. You can also adjust the fit easily using the dial in the back of the helmet. This is probably one of my favorite features as it is easy and convenient to use.The chin strap buckle uses magnets to securely adhere to each other. At first I was afraid that this would easily come off, but this hasn't happened to me ever. You can also easily remove the strap using one hand. I don't know why you would need to do that, but it's very convenient and I like it. The chin strap also has some padding on the chin for extra protection -- this is very useful since it's quite irritating to have your chin scratched while you are cycling.I haven't tried to check the helmet's shock absorbing capability, and I hope I never will. I don't enjoy falling on my head. That said, this feels very durable and I enjoy using it. I feel very safe using it, and that's what really matters at the end of the day.

this is a review of the gen3. I also own a yakkay and a giro, so that's the extent of the comparison, and the nutcase is the best by far. the yakkay and the giro both work fine but the yakkay is not comfortable, and the giro is not modifiable.nutcase advantages:-it has a great stabilizer - it permits accommodating a mane of hair spiraled flat on top of the head; it's easy to reach, easy to adjust, and has a wide range of adjustment-the visor is detachable-the excess chin strap is wrapped in a cushioned fabric cover that keeps it organized and keeps it from digging into your neck (a very thoughtful and useful detail)-bonus: there are some companion accessories, like eye protection and ear covers,so you can alter the look of the helmet for practical reasons or just for funby comparison: yakkay is crazy expensive (yakkay's really about hats, not helmets), best for round heads, and the stabilizer cog is exposed (so hair catches on it) and difficult to reach and adjust. the giro surface multi-sport helmet (found at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047VH2LI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 skate/bike helmet at the time of this writing) has an integrated visor that cannot be removed, and no stabilizer.

Was looking for a bike helmet that was very comfortable and had a little personality and this definitely hit the mark. It has a very comfortable design including the interior pads and strap materials. Also the adjustable dial in the back is great to get the helmet fitting just right. I didn't think I was going to like/use the detachable sun visor but I actually love the looks and function of it. Ventilation is very good for this style of helmet and the paint job was excellent as well. A really cool feature is the magnetic clip the buckles the chinstrap, it can't pinch you like the old school clips do. Also if you have to bike at night, the logos and contrast stitching on the chinstrap are reflective and every little bit helps when it comes to that. All in all this helmet is a little pricey but there some things in life you shouldn't be cheap about and a quality helmet is one of them. My head measures exactly between medium and large according to nutcase, however the large was too big no matter what. The medium fit me perfectly even with the larger of the two supplied interior pads.

UPDATE I received my replacement helmet and will be trying to find a way to glue the visor to the helmet. I just love the helmet far too much to let the visor problem make me give it up. It is a very fun item. Easy to use magnetic snap and only had to adjust the strap first time using it.I love this helmet and so does everybody who sees it. It has generated many smiles on the street, but the first time I took it out and used it, the visor fell off and hasn't been found -- and I loved the visor. The visor not only made the style distinctive, it really helped me avoid the glare of the sun that I have a hard time dealing with. I did not know when I ordered the helmet that the visor came separate in the box (I thought it was affixed to the helmet).I am in the process of trying to get the visor replaced and I will be contacting the seller.I ordered the medium and the fit is perfect. I can usually wear my 9 year old grandson's helmets easily and this fits the both of us (not that he's begging to wear it but his head makes for a great sizing tool).

I've owned one Nutcase helmet and decided to purchase another when I bought a new bike. The new removable visor is a nice touch. The sparkle aspect is embedded into the paint of helmet and doesn't look like an added layer that would chip off.I've found the new sizing to be a bit confusing. My old helmet was the L/XL size from nutcase. My measurement was 23.5" which put me at the top of the new medium sizing. The medium felt a little too snug at the widest opening. I looked at the sizing on the nutcase site, and 23.5" is also shown for the large, so I exchanged it, and it was clearly too big even with the thicker inserts. That's when I realized that the sizing chart that ships with the helmet doesn't show a 23.5" in both sizes,it is clearly a medium, and the large starts at 23 7/8. I'm re-ordering the medium and will use the thinner inserts. Hopefully this will help someone else.

We got this helmet for our toddler after he outgrew his toddler bike helmet. The adult small is appropriate for toddlers (we discovered this after actually calling the company and having an in-depth discussion with customer service), and was easily be sized down to fit by swapping out the thinner pads for the extra-thick pads that were included. This does seem to be a nice, safe helmet for our kiddo, and the color is great. What we wanted was something very bright, so that vehicles would easily see our kid. This does the job.The only reasons that I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that the visor is constantly falling off (not sure it actually does anything anyway)and the velcro pad that corrals the straps under the chin is flimsy and and could be redesigned. However, these complaints would not be enough to deter us from buying this helmet again.

Bought this for my teenaged son to use while long boarding. It was a bit more expensive than the standard helmets (approximately $10 more) but has multiple certifications, and he really likes the magnetic strap, no more pinching so it was well worth it. The cool designs are also a plus when trying to find something that a teen will wear. He says it is comfortable and he likes that the visor and back twist lock are removable/adjustable. Also the range of sizes go up more. A lot of companies helmets sizes are too small for him. He is a big kid so the listing of the accurate measurements ie Large fits 23.5 - 25 as opposed to just large or XL is great. The company is also good to work with.I called them to ask some questions and spoke to a real, live person who knew what they were talking about and could make recommendations.

I recently just purchased a cruiser bike, and didn't want the typical "space-aged" sporty bike helmet. Nothing wrong with that style, it just wouldn't compliment my look while riding my old-fashioned American style bicycle. I decided on the Nutcase helmet mainly due to the shape of the helmet itself. I purchased it during COVID-19 so I assume that's why options were extremely limited. Nevertheless, the colorful helmet is awesome and compliments my yellow bike well. While wearing it I feel safe and it fits very comfortably. I also like that it has the fit dial in the back to give you that extra fitting. Even wearing a low ponytail the helmet works. I found that the little black visor would fall off the helmet,so I decided to Super Glue it in place. Awesome helmet to protect my awesome brain-Love my brain!

I really enjoy this helmet for a variety of reasons. The first is purely aesthetic, in that it looks super cute and I get many compliments. However, the important thing is that the helmet is very comfortable and the chin strap is fantastic. The strap is wrapped in a smooth fabric so that it is not jarring against the skin and the locking mechanism is magnetic which allows for easy snapping on and off (without the dreaded finger pinch or getting hair yanked out). The visor is removable, which is nice, though I can't say I find it particularly affective at blocking the sun, as it's quite narrow. The other thing that I appreciate is that the helmet body has enough head coverage to feel safe butdoesn't dip so far down in the back as to make wearing a ponytail uncomfortable.

Hey you on the bike! You have a nice looking noggin! It looks like it's protecting your brain quite nicely! But you know what your cranium would appreciate? A wee bit of extra protection! That's where Nutcase helmets can be a help to you! I love my high-performance head protection tool - I.e. My awesome new helmet. It's stylish (I have the cherry blossom design), it's comfy (with interchangeable pads to adjust the fit and an awesome easy to clasp chin strap), and it's tough (while I haven't had any accidents thankfully I have dropped it accidentally many times and it is no worse for wear). If you bike a lot and want a cool and comfortable helmet to keep that noggin looking nice and stylishly well-protected,this is the helmet for you!

I can't speak to whether this helmet is effective in a crash, but at least I can say I can get it on my head. I have an enormous skull for a woman (often have to get custom-made hats), and I was so happy to find that this comes in large, which is a perfect fit for me, because I prefer this style of helmet over the more aerodynamic style you see everywhere. Nutcase was the only company I could find that makes this style in my size. And in my favorite color orange, to boot! And the magnetic strap closure is awesome. My only complaint is that the helmet seems to scratch easily from seemingly light bumps that it's had from my setting it down too hard or hitting the back of a seat on the bus,so it looks a little worse for wear.

Very impressed by this helmet. High quality materials and craftsmanship in every feature. It has bonus features I didn't even noticed before I purchased it such as reflective touches on helmet body and straps. It comes with easy to use instructions and extra pads. It took me less than five minutes to adjust my perfect fit. My favorite part is the magnetic snap no pinch buckle. The style and colors are classic and sophisticated. I showed it to some friends and they didn't recognize that it was a bike helmet. Feels true to size. Coverage is excellent. I feel like my head will be more protected should I fall wearing this helmet rather than my old big box store bike helmet that only covers the tophalf of my head.

This was a replacement as the first one, that I paid fast delivery for, came without the packet of "stuff". I knew something was missing but found out when the replacement arrived that it was more than the detachable visor. Paperwork, extra pads, chin pad etc. The helmet itself fits great and is very comfortable. I can't tell how hot it will be to wear but it's definitely warmer than my mountain bike helmet. It doesn't look too big on my head, it looks like a helmet. Missing a star because I paid fancy shipping to get it fast and then had to go through the hassle of a return and wait for the replacement which put me beyond the free shipping I would have had with Prime.

This helmet covers more of my skull than my old Bell helmet. The chin-strap has comfortable padding. The chin-strap buckle is innovative and operates wonderfully with one hand. There are lots of reflective details for safety. The dial in the back of the helmet which adjusts the fit is the best of these devices I've used: very easy to dial tighter or looser, very comfortable, and the snug fit makes the helmet feel totally secure. I don't think about the individual features and details of a bike helmet until one like this comes along, that is so much better than the others in the field. This is my fourth bike helmet over 30 years. I highly recommend Nutcase helmets.

I bought the kid version for my son and was impressed so I wanted to get one for myself, but I was worried it was more baby blue than the mint green I was hoping for from the amazon pics. After doing a search of item online, I found another pic of it being worn it was more green than blue. I took a chance and couldn't be more happier - great match to my cruiser. It fit as expected (22"-23") and practically right out of the box - didn't need to switch out the pads but tightened the straps a bit an attached the visor... Super fast shipping, ordered late Friday night and delivered on Sunday in time for our ride that day!
