Our 16 month grandson had mastered an ELC first shapes puzzle and was ready for the next challenge so I ordered this puzzle.When it arrived I was impressed by it sturdiness and surprised how big it is.Our grandson loves it; the knobs fit his fist comfortably and he also uses the pieces as cymbals.I think it has several educational values, as well as being fun.Some of the shapes are not easy for him to fit exactly into place so it encourages concentration. The pieces can be classified in various ways (green, triangle, door).Unlike some sorting puzzles the smaller pieces will fit into the largest hole - but 'real life is like that too, so maybe this is not a drawback.

The design of this toy was exactly right for an 18 month old little girl. The handles were easy to grip ( most puzzles have small ones) the shapes were simple and the limited range of colours was very easy for her to recognise the individual colours. Plus the shapes made up an easily recognised object. Most of these types of puzzles are too fussy and fiddly for this age. Thank you!

I absolutely love the size of this puzzle, and it is so much nicer looking than in the photos. However some of the edges are rather scruffy looking and poorly cut. Easy enough to tidy up yourself but wouldn't expect to have to so found that disappointing, especially as it's the second item from M&D I have found that with recently. It seems their quality control isn't what it was!

My grandson loves these puzzles. When I bought it he was only 17 months but within minutes he was able to do it. Very chunky hand pegs just perfect for tiny hands and quite strong. It has been thrown on to the floor quite a few times as he gets very impatient with having to wait for his puzzle to be got for him that he gets it himself.

I have bought this as a gift for a first birthday present and I'm sure it will be very well received. It's big and colourful, with lovely chunky knobs on the puzzle pieces - perfect for little hands to get a good grip. I'm very pleased with this - will report back on what the baby thinks after he's played with it!

My daughter likes this puzzle a lot! It is easy to play with.But since the little ones even over 1 year of age still like to chew on things the puzzle is not very safe as there are bits of what looks like cardboard material peeling off the back of the shapes & I have to fish them out of her mouth all the time.

My toddler loves this! Great first puzzle as he loves grabbing the handles, smashing the pieces together to make a slapping sound and then trying to fit them back in board. The edge of the pieces 'paper' of the puzzle are starting to lift, after not much use.

Brilliant build quality with thick puzzle base and pieces. Its had a good few days of toddler bashing and stood up to it very well. Another great Melissa and Doug product.

Great first puzzel. The large knobs makes it easier to pick up the pieces. Very sturdy and excellently made. Arrived early well packaged. Would definitely recommend.

This is a very robust puzzle and my little girl loves it. The knobs on the shapes are great for little hands to handle and it looks really good quality

Love this jigsaw. The large pegs help my small granddaughter to grab the pieces. Lovely bright colours and large pieces attract her attention.

Still haven't given my daughter this puzzle as we are doing one toy at a time, but it is of good quality and is a good basic wooden puzzle.

This was ideal for my 2year old grandaughter,, its a few years old now but still used by other siblings thankyou would recomm end .

Very nice well made and big sized puzzle. It is made of wood but the pieces are light so easy for baby to lift. Very happy
