At it's pricepoint of roughly £40, the unit represented good value for money. At their most basic, UPS devices are basically sealed lead acid batteries with voltage sensors and their version of an inverter. 12v lead-acid batteries typically cost in the region of £40-£50 alone, so this UPS is cheaper than setting up your own equivalent backup battery.I was fortunate enough to experience several very rare power outages. It switches to backup fairly quickly. The unit does make an incredibly annoying periodic beeping sound when it detects the power has gone out, so don't keep it in any bedrooms. It is possible to disable the beeping sound via an APC utility program (Linux has apcupsd with apctest, for example), but that requires a USB type-B cable, which is not supplied, which is mildly disappointing. It takes a long time to recharge, approximately 5-15 minutes per 1%. That said, during power outage testing, back-of-the-envelope calculations suggest the battery can run a 90W laptop for roughly 3 - 3.5 hours (depleting roughly 7% charge every 15-30 minutes). Although this isn't what UPS is typically used for, it was the purpose it was serving in my case.Unit comes with two plug sockets, however be aware, when the unit is turned on, the more devices plugged into it, the vastly more heat it produces. With no load on, it produced heat comparable to an overly active laptop. With one laptop plugged in, it produced heat equal to a tower PC running on full. With two laptops plugged in, the unit was effectively a radiator. Users in colder climates might want to consider it as a dual-purpose discount heat source. In summer heat, this is a big problem. UPS can only tolerate a very limited range of temperatures, with a particular limit focused on high temperatures, which means this UPS unit contributes to it's own demise. Rooms with it in will either need to be well ventilated with cool air flow, or have a working air-conditioning unit. Alternatively, the unit should be placed in a cooler room. The only other way to reduce heat is to either turn the device off (it will continue to charge but won't power any devices) or to reduce or remove any power loads currently running on it. This is a big problem if you intend to power, say, a desktop PC.It's not entirely clear why it produces so much heat, but if you have a room with already high temperatures, you might want to look for a cooler or more energy efficient unit.Despite the heat issues and beeping, the unit works extremely well, and for it's price, represents good value for money.

The item itself is simple to set up and does what it needs to given that it can't run more than three devices, and I only wanted it to run three devices. But if there is one thing that drives me mad more than anything else it's when a seller fails to mention something really important about a product. In this case the unit should be plugged in to a fused socket or run through an RCD, for safety reasons. Given that it's an electrical device, safety seems like a sensible precaution. After all, who wants to find that the device has overheated and burns your house down when you are out. Fortunately I had a spare RCD to use. What I didn't have is a USB to USB cable to connect the unit to the PC so you can monitor the unit status and get alerts sent if there is an issue.Hugely annoying. The product is good, the supplier not so.

The power outlet options are ideal for home use, 2 x UK socket and 1 x IEC.USB HID allows connectivity with a computer. For my purposes this unit is being used to power our BroadBand Router and a Raspberry PI as a UPS monitor. The UK sockets allow the PI to be powered with a standard phone USB adapter and the Router from it's mains/DC power supply. When the power trips or there is a power failure the PI receives a signal from the UPS about being on battery and sends an email to me notifying me of the power outage. This UPS will be able to power both for hours.

This is a Nice little UPS, we wanted a compact one to tuck behind a bedroom TV, after a previous TV had been blown up by a SSE post brownout power surge. Being in a bedroom, the most important USP for us was that it should be quite and this one certainly is. I haven't checked how long it will support the TV in a power outage, but I guess that it will be long enough. Definitely recommended.

I connected this UPS to my synology Nas as I’ve been experiencing some power cuts recently so I thought I would invest in a UPS and this powerwalker basic done the job very well I tested it out turned off the power mains and it run my synology for about 45 minutes Found this was great because the power cuts only Last for around 5 or 10 minutes..

Does exactly what it says on tin. Quiet compared to even well known UPS brands. Haven’t had an actual outage to test but a dry run worked as expected with NAS.
