I would give this between 4 and 5 stars.Material: The plastic from which this is made was much thinner than I was expecting, but the ratings from heavy-duty backpackers and campers on most user websites are consistently high, so my hope is that this pad turns out to be quite durable given that I will take excellent care of it. Upon unpacking it from the convenient storage bag, I noticed no smell or off-gassing, which is very important to me (I am sensitive to toxins - well, most of us are, but I am someone who actually will get a headache or feel sick from plastics that off-gas). It's a very soft- to-the-touch and non-slip material too, which is helpful in keeping the sleeping bag from sliding around.Baffles and Comfort: I first tried this on my clean tile floor and I noticed that I definitely felt the hardness of the floor on my knee and hips when I was crawling onto the pad, but that once I was actually lying down, the baffles seemed to cushion me well, particularly having them with the V shape facing up. I then tried it on a thin rug over the tile floor and that was even more comfortable and finally, I rolled out my thin but very cushy yoga mat and with that underneath, it was very comfortable - again, I could feel the hardness when I was getting on the pad, but once I was on it, it seemed to provide cushion and support. I am 5'7" and weigh between 135 and 140 lbs., and am a side sleeper, so having my hips and shoulders cushioned when I am sleeping is ultra important to a good night's sleep.Size: The 30" width seems perfect for side sleeping and I could definitely tell that the shape of the baffles combined with what Klymit calls the "side rails" would help keep me from rolling off. I am not comfortable ever on tiny narrow pads and have always found that I can't manage to stay on them during the night.Weight: and under two lbs, this may not be for the minimalist backpacker, but it feels very light to me. I would rather get an ultralight backpack and sleep on this plus my yoga mat (which would add weight) than get up with an aching back.Overall: I believe I will get plenty of use out of this pad and will combine it with my yoga mat for complete comfort when camping, car camping and on shorter backpacking trips when weight is not as much of a consideration - when weight is the main issue, I'll try ditching the yoga mat (but with some injuries under my belt after 48 years on the planet, I might not do as well without the added cush). As an addition to their varied series of sleeping pads, I would like to see Klymit come up with a slightly heavier material and thicker pad (adding maybe a pound or so) with the same width and baffles but with enough loft to completely eliminate the need for a ground pad underneath this one (for those of us who are side sleepers and need the additional cushioning on our hips and shoulders). Back sleepers will probably find this existing pad perfectly fine solo.I am eager to try this out on an upcoming road trip where we will be camping along the way. Now to find a new lightweight sleeping bag...

Amazing sleeping pad. Definitely the only design I ever want to use at this point. Sleeps amazingly better than foam pads, yet it also packs so much smaller and lighter. I'm over 6 feet tall, and yet this pad stows to less than the size of a 2-liter. Last time I tried to get this same quality out of foam pads, it was like a movie where cowboys have to lash a bedroll to their horse. Only warning: This mat is better for back and front sleepers, than for side sleepers.Pros:-Stows in a tiny bag. Weighs next to nothing, and takes up as much space as a medium-size coffee can.-Enormous when inflated. As said, 2 people could easily share this in an emergency. Will easily sleep anyone with wide shoulders or broad hips comfortably.-Big enough or 2 people in an emergency. This pad is not the best for side sleepers so I only add the emergency tag since you'd probably be sleeping on your sides. 2 slim-framed people could probably sleep shoulder-to-shoulder without much trouble, but I wouldn't recommend it.-So comfortable. I used the regular version- and I'm not kidding- to sleep on a floor during an all-night event in a theater. I woke up more refreshed than almost any time I've ever been using lightweight camping gear. This version is even more comfortable, thanks to being so much wider.Cons:-The mat is quite thin, meaning it's not great for side sleepers. Personally, I like a firm mattress so I'm fine on my side. My girlfriend who likes softer beds is more skeptical. With an extra blanket I can sleep on my side comfortably for several nights, but this mat is certainly made with back sleepers in mind. If you're a side only sleeper, definitely hold on to your box in case you need to do a return.Overall:-Almost disappears in your pack compared to traditional bedding. Gigantic when inflated, it's comfy for anyone. The only downside is that it's pretty thin for a side sleeper. It's hard to imagine a sleeping pad that could be any better for back and front sleepers. I'll update after my next camping trip just to verify this pad on a proper shakedown, but given my experience with the original I'm sure it will be great.

I am very pleased with my Klymit Static V Luxe Sleeping Pad. I purchased the: wide, long, un-insulated version. If there was an award for honest advertising on Amazon, Klymit should be given one. As I toss and turn like a mummy on hot coals I was very skeptical where the posting says "Side rails: integrated into the patterning and construction, Side rails help provide a secure, comfortable sleep by centering you on the pad" On my past pads I always found myself on the bare tent floor. However, on my Klymit I have never woken up chilled on the tent floor. Another claim I was leery of was their 15 breaths to blow it up. Holy yellow moss campers! the first time I blew this up (about 3 min after opening the package)at 15 breaths it was inflated. The first time in the field I think it took a couple more, but I may have lost count or put some more air into it. Another thing to point out is the pad did not loose air. I was camping in the fall and temperatures were already dropping into the 40's air zapping zone on some of my other pads. As for the big one-Comfort, Klymit gets another 5 stars for honesty. Who is really ever comfortable on a sleeping pad in the middle of the forest? Most of us are dead tired after a day of activity and could fall asleep on lava rock. I have often been called a big guy, and at 6-4 340lbs I tend not to argue the point. So for me to be comfortable the pad has to have something to it. This Klymit kept me extremely happy for a sleeping pad. I did not bottom out the pad while laying down on my side or back. Sitting on the pad my fat as.....er...tush did bounce off the ground a few times. Kneeling and elbows did bottom out the pad. But sleep was almost cloud like. I am not talking 5 star Trump Towers clouds but most definitely Yogi Bear Comfortable. One last point to make is that this pad did not slide around the tent floor. Where I laid my head down is where I woke up.This pad meets or exceeds all the claims Klymit makes. Purchase this pad and you will not be disappointed.

I just turned 40, and at my age I no longer enjoy sleeping directly on the ground (like I ever really did). My sons are venturing into Boy Scouts and the demand for outdoor tent camping continues to grow. So I found my self in need of a light weight yet functional sleep pad system. I have tried several different options ranging from foam padding to the self inflatable, and none of these seemed to suit my needs. I viewed a You Tube video, and the host began talking about the Big Agnes inflatable sleeping pad. This prompted me to begin looking into similar type pads. While searching Amazon.com I came across the Klymit sleeping pads. What immediately caught my eye was the size of the Klymit Static V Luxe pad and of course the price!!!.The V Luxe Pad I ordered finally arrived!!! I was very impressed with its compact size in its stuff sack; the V Luxe measures 8″ x 5″ and weighs in just under 2 lbs. I removed the rolled up pad from its stuff sack ,and enlisted the help of my wife with the virgin un-furloughing. Let me tell you, this thing is massive at 76″ x 30″ x 3″. It took me approximately 20 breaths to fill the pad up tight (just a hint this pad has 2 inflation valves so make sure they are both closed before you start filling the pad with air). Once the pad was completely filled it was time for the real test. I laid the pad out on the hard wood floor and put her to the test. I will tell you this I am 5′ 9″ and weigh 240 lbs. This pad fit great with some extra length left over and there was plenty of width as well. The thing that impressed me the most was that in while laying in any position from on my back to my stomach to my side I could not feel the floor beneath me. My closing thoughts on this pad are all positive and as of yet I am not aware of any negatives. Below you will find a link to the Klymit Static V Luxe Inflatable Sleeping Pad on Amazon. If you are in the market for a great sleep pad I would highly recommend this pad.

So to start I am 6'2" and weigh around 270 lbs. These pads are awesome. I have never slept on a pad that was more comfortable on my side. Most pads I have tried are comfy on your back, but when you roll (as i constantly do) you just sink into the ground. That doesn't happen with these pads. They stay soft and keep you well off the ground on your back and even on your side. Now if you are debating on whether you should spend the extra money and get these or the standard thats up to you, but i ordered the standard sized v2 and returned it. It was very comfortable and just as supportive, but for a larger guy like me it was just a little narrow and my arms always fell off the side in the night. These are wide enough that hasn't been an issue yet. Also if you are any taller than me, be prepared for your feet to hang off. I barely fit, and just to make it better i usually sleep on a pillow of some kind with my head off the end. The luxe pad is wider, but not any taller from what i can tell at least. Finally, even though it does take a little effort to inflate the nozzles to do it are awesome. Instead of twisting to open and close they just snap up or down. That means when your really close to having it full and need that extra pressure, you can quickly snap it down, take a big breathe, put the nozzle in your mouth, open it, blow the rest of the air in, and close it while its still in your mouth so that you don't lose even a little air. My wife and i have bought $200 self in floating pads that are cushy and easy and heavy, and these are better.

I've only used this once and will try to update this review after using it a few more times. This is a very comfortable sleeping pad! It is super compact once it's deflated and rolled up. I can't quite get it small enough to cinch the little draw string bag it comes it, but it definitely fits in there and sticks out like an inch from the opening of the little pouch. Honestly, I could probably get it to fit more perfectly if I wanted to, but the point is I was too lazy to. The instructions say the pad will inflate in like 10-15 breaths or something ridiculous like that. It doesn't. It takes probably double that amount of breaths (30 or less), which is still fine. It's do-able, not a big deal at all. There are two air valves so it deflates pretty quickly. I am 5'4 and 180ish lbs and when I am laying on this pad I don't feel the ground at all, even if I lay on my side. When I woke up the next morning the pad hadn't noticeably deflated at all, and I was still off the ground. When I used this pad I had a super hot sleeping bag which I eventually kicked off. I thought that sleeping right on the pad would feel very plastic-y, but it was surprisingly nice to the touch and very cozy feeling. Overall, this is a very nice, compact and comfortable sleeping pad. Just note that I am NOT a hardcore camper or backpacker so I used this pad in very comfortable elements (ok fine, I was using this indoors but I was sleeping on the ground with it). So I can't say how comfortable this pad would be if you were sleeping in the mountains on rocks.

I bought this for probably a different purpose than most - I travel a lot and those hotel beds kill my back. I spent quite a long time researching something that would add a layer of "squishy" between me and the hard mattresses without totally filling up my suitcase. I ultimately decided on this one and couldn't be happier! It is a very nice size - I can even sprawl out on it a little bit and it covers a king size mattress from top to bottom. Because I wanted something really soft, I only partially inflated it but it stayed at the same level for 3 days straight. It was super comfortable on a week when I was already having back issues. That's my question above on a pump to inflate it.I guess people who spend all day climbing hills for fun find it to be super easy to fill but I struggled. Ultimately I bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I0IBPQC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it worked out ok. None of the attachments fit on the mattress but it is a very quick fill so I just hold the nozzles next to each other for about 20 seconds (for a complete fill) and that works fine. I found the little nozzles on the mattress to be a bit difficult but the trick is to twist, then pull to open. Push to close, then twist to seal. Deflating couldn't be easier, fold and roll. I suppose you could do that multiple times to make it extra tight but once was enough for me to fit it easily back in the stuff sack. Between that and the pump, it fills up the bottom 4-5 inches of my carry on.

This is absolutely the most comfortable, backpacking-appropriate camp mattress I've ever tried. Background: I backpack camp and have my 3-season base pack weight (excluding food, worn clothing) down to about 16lbs.I'm six feet tall and tend to turn in my sleep but at 30-inches wide, my arms stay on the mattress rather than falling off the edge. It's a plush 3-inches thick as well, keeping both my back and hip bones from getting sore.At 750-grams, and rolling down to approximately the size of a Nalgene bottle, this mattress is slightly heavier than some but still backpacking appropriate. I reduce gear weight in areas like clothes, tent, and sleeping bag so that I have some extra carrying capacity for a mattress that I enjoy. So,here's the thing: Klymit's quality control is more problematic than Therm-a-Rest's.I got one of these that had a slow leak. My suspicion is it's a valve issue. Klymit uses two valves (for fast deflation) with a "pull to open, push to close, twist to lock closed" action. It's not a simple screw valve so there's more to go wrong and more failure points.Given that these are the ONLY 30-inch wide mattresses light enough for backpacking, I'm exchanging mine under warranty. My camping is much more enjoyable when I get a good night's sleep. I'm still giving the Klymit Static V Luxe five stars as you can keep exchanging any defective units until you find one that's perfect; you'll certainly get a perfect night's sleep on it.

This is the 1st true sleeping pad I have purchased and VERY surprised at the comfort level. This is a replacement for a cheap but thick Coleman Slim Twin air mattress that sprang a leak. Was pretty tough to justify the price with how seldom I use it since I don't go camping and this is actually for use on military aircraft and the occasional emergency sleep spot when visiting (or have visitors). The Coleman just couldn't take the cold- the plastic bottom would become "brittle" and developed pin-hole leaks. My concern was that it would be too thin and I would bottom out on it and it would be basically an overpriced pool float. Took it out, blew it up (pretty quickly I might add)and still wasn't very enthusiastic looking at it. Looks thin, funky design and weighs nothing. Then I laid down on it (on hardwood floor) and was blown away. Never thought it would work, especially laying on my side (I'm 5'11" wide shoulders and 205 lbs) but no hard spots. Even wound up letting a little air out to soften it a touch! My wife, who is a "big-boned" lady was VERY perturbed when I purchased this instead of another $20 Coleman begrudgingly agreed that it was pretty astounding when she tried it out. Very comfortable overall and wide enough to fit perfectly under my rectangle sleeping bag. Will test it out in the coming weeks on the hard, cold steel deck of a military cargo plane with my trusty sleeping bag but my expectations have already been far exceeded.

We bought 3 of the smaller klymits for my hubs and kiddos when they took a backpacking trip. My husband had taken the trip with a foam mat before and he said never again. I found Klymit while searching on amazon for an alternative to the foam mat. They were no bigger than a can of soda, so we blew them up to the tried out at home before they left for their trip. They were amazing! Who would think something so small would be so comfortable!! We've had other air mattresses before and they are cold and usually by morning, you are on the ground anyway. My husband is 6'2" and around 250. These little mattresses kept him up off the ground and comfortable all night. When we planned a family camping trip,I needed a mattress for myself. This one happened to be on a lightning deal, so I snatched it up. Everyone wanted my mattress. Lol! This one is quite a bit bigger! I would say it's close to twice as wide and it's a bit thicker. When folded up, it's about 2.5 times as big as the smaller one, so still very small. Maybe about the size as a small bag of suger? If space is a concern, buy the smaller one. If you are car camping, get this bigger one.

I did not have super high expectations for this product, mostly because I figured that something that folded up so small couldn't possibly be any more comfortable than the standard self-inflating camping pads I'm used to using. Boy, was I wrong. Although this product does not have the convenience of self-inflating pads--you do actually have to blow it up using your mouth--it more than makes up for that with its small size, light weight, and improved comfort. I am a relatively small female and was able to blow up this sleeping pad by myself in about two minutes. Once blown up, this pad is incredibly comfortable. It is thick enough that even if I am lying on my side,I don't feel like I'm coming into contact with the ground. The best part is that this can fit INSIDE my hiking pack, so I don't have to strap it to the bottom of my pack as I have with my other self-inflating pads. Overall, I highly recommend this sleeping pad for just about anyone who wants to have a little bit of luxury on their next camping trip.

These sleeping pads are the most comfortable pads we have ever used. The product images and videos can be a bit deceiving, they are not as huge as they make it look, but for me that was a good thing. The small versions are just way too skinny for me. I roll around a lot at night, so I would just fall off the smaller version. My wife has the smaller version tho and she loves it, perfect size for her. The only thing that I do not understand is why it has 2 valves, and why they made them stick up instead of out. I did knock my feet against them a couple of times and they are uncomfortable. Not enough to make me want a different pad tho, these are very comfortable. My biggest concern is if they were to puncture and go flat.Therm-a-rest has padding on the inside that would still protect you from small rocks or sticks, but if these pads go flat you are directly on the ground. I guess that is the price you pay to be able to pack them up to the small sizes that these can get.

Three nights in the rain, and so very comfortable! Not much sliding around, grips your sleeping bag pretty good. I'm a wanderer in the night, and had minimal problems with slipping. Very, very comfortable, and easy to inflate. Pay attention to how it is packed because I had problems fitting it into the bag, but because of somebody else's stellar review I was able to repack easily! Packs small, but probably a little bit heavier than others, but this thing is BIG, and comfortable..., worth the extra ounces. Very well made; feels thick, and comes with a patch kit.3years later and I still love this “bed”! I use it camping, and traveling to families houses I use this “bed” to free up other beds for family or friends. It’s actually more comfortable than a bed to me. Winter camping I put a wool blanket underneath it and the baffles don’t get cold then if sleeping in a tent. If winter backpacking I put a survival blanket underneath and it works. Love this big beast!

So I finally got to take this pad backpacking in the high Uinta mountains of Utah. I am 60 and have long since needed plenty of room and warmth (all the comforts of home) if I am to sleep at night on a backpacking trip. This pad's extra size was just the ticket to found my oversized Coleman sleeping bag and is light and compact enough that I could fit it, a 39X80 0 degree sleeping bag, a SHO pillow, my mess kit and stove, a fuel canister, my food for the three days, a first aid kit, and a two liter water bladder inside the combined main and sleeping bag compartments, with other items in the pockets of my 75L High Sierra pack, all for less than 40lbs. So much for having to go minimalist.Nighttime temps hit the mid 30's. And.. And.. I awoke in the morning having slept with no aches or pains. Two of my sons had other Klymit models and also had no complaints about comfort. I could really start to like backpacking and I had better because my sons are not stopping!

Don't expect this to have the same comfort as a big air mattress; it is what it is. However, it is surprisingly comfortable and plenty wide for one person. I use this on a piece of thick plywood I fashioned into a bunk in my truck canopy and as long as it is blown up all the way, I don't feel the wood below me. The truck is an older full size 3/4 ton Chevy and the pad reaches all the way across it side-to-side perfectly. It seems quite strong, but I wouldn't trust my huge dog stepping on it and not popping it. It takes quite a bit more to blow up than the description says, but I can blow it up in a few minutes by mouth without passing out. It does deflate back down nice and small and is light. It is a bit expensive, but I have searched a long time to find the right thing and nothing else has been as good as this one. The wide width is worth the extra money. Remember - you get what you pay for and you pay for what you don't get.
