I cycle year-around until the temps drop below the mid-20s . My hands get cold easily. I had been using a bulky pair of cross-country ski gloves - they kept my hands warm but they were cumbersome to use and there was nothing grippy on the palms so my hands had a tendency to slide around on the handlebars. Then I bought these. My fingers stay warm and I feel like I'm in full control of the handlebar again. Unfortunately, I bought them late in the season so I only had two chances to wear them before the weather started warming up. My first ride with these were in temps in the mid to high 20s. They were very comfortable. Unlike other lobster-style gloves,it's like you're inserting your hand into regular gloves with each finger separately encased and then into the three-fingered lobster arrangement. Except the gloves are built as an integrated unit - not as a separate glove with a shell. They kept my hands nice and toasty and the outer fabric cut the wind. :^)My second ride with these started with a temp of about 30 and ended with the temp around 40. My hands were - again - nice and toasty to start with but I'll admit the gloves started to get pretty warm towards the end of the ride. That's how well they insulate. My hands didn't end up sweaty but if the temps had gone up another few degrees I would have had to take them off. They do take a little getting used to but I quickly adapted to only having three fingers. As other posters have noted, the wrists on these are pretty snug and they do take some tugging to pull them on. The payoff is that you won't get any chilly breezes blowing into them while you're riding.I'm 63, 5' 10", and about 160 lbs. I normally wear Mediums in just about everything. I bought these as a Medium and they fit perfectly. As a previous poster mentioned, as we get older we DO get colder more easily. For me, I figure these are good for rides down to about 25 which is about as cold as it ever gets around here during the daytime anyway (Northern Virginia).

Size: I am 6'3" and these gloves in XL fit just right, but are not roomy enough to accommodate liners. Other brands in size XL usually fit my hands more loosely. For reference, my fingers are not long enough to palm a basketball, so I don't have unusually large hands for my height.Temperature protection: my 30 minute bicycle ride to work this morning was in 13 degree F weather (-10 degrees C). The tips of my fingers got very cold within 10 minutes of riding; the warming process at work was painful. On a similar ride last week at 25 degree F, my fingers were slightly cold but not uncomfortably so.Dexterity: I can shift my Shimano STI levers just fine. For general use,I can manipulate a ring of keys well enough to select one without dropping the whole set (not doable with mittens, in contrast).Nose wiping: yeah... both gloves have a soft, fleecy portion between the thumb and wrist. The position is not ideal for wiping your dripping shnoz while cycling, but that feature is usable.Looks and overall functionality. Pros, black goes well with red, quality seems very good, and they provide good protection down to non-stupid temps. Cons, stay out of the teens and below...and you look stupid giving drivers the finger.

I really like these gloves, I use them for commuting in Austin TX and since I got these gloves no more frozen fingers. Now I know it doesn't get that cold down here for very long, but tell that to my fingers when it gets down to 30 to 40 deg F. These are as warm as mittens but with the split fingers they still allow shifting and braking at the same time. I have ridden with them down to 30 degrees F and my fingers are warm, I don't know how much colder you can comfortably go, but they are big enough inside so that you could put one of those small hand warmers in there to keep you toasty. As a final comment I have big hands, my fingers are not long but they and the rest of my hands are wide,I got the X-Large, my hands fit, and there is plenty of finger room left for all of y'all that have long fingers.

These gloves do the best job of keeping my fingers warm than any other cycling glove and they were surprisingly nimble when it came to handling the bike, shifting gears, braking. In the low 40's, they're great. Haven't used them in temperatures colder than this as I live in sunny Southern California. But I'm glad to have these because we'll have morning temperatures in the 30's this Winter. I'll update the review after some colder rides.

-All of my other cycling gloves are medium but I took a large in these.-I bought them but did not need them for the rest of the winter season. When I finally broke the seal on the package 12 months later I had two left gloves! Craft was great, made it right with no hassles.-Finally got them out on a cold weather ride (below freezing, though not much below I suspect) and they were perfect!-Great product and great customer service.

I bought these for my husband at his request so I am reporting what he said. He expected more for the price but is not dissatisfied. The best features are the sticky grips on the palms and fingers. He also likes the glove inside that has a slot for each finger. This feature allows for more control with the grip. They are useful for winter weather--cold, wind, and snow--but are not for extreme winter weather sports.

Super warm, as promised and keep the wind and moisture out. I ordered the Medium (which tends to be the size I typically wear) and they fit pretty good, but the thumb is a bit loose.Unfortunately, the touch-screen compatibility is spotty at best and one has to be very gentle and deliberate with any finger strokes for the phone to register any input. Texting is out of the question...

All my friends who are serious cyclists here in Colorado use these gloves during winter. They are truly outstanding. I ride in sub 20 degree temps and haven't had a problem... and I get cold easy. On really cold days, I used them inside my pogies on my fat tire bike. They were too warm with the pogies. Great wind protection and ok in dry snow.

Does feel windproof. Not terribly thick. I've worn them comfortably for my half hour bike commute to work in 20-30 degree weather, but under 20 degrees you'd definitely need hand warmers (or different gloves). Do appreciate the bright color, reflective patches, and the "nose wiping" soft area

I have thin fingers having poor circulation, they get cold easily when cycling. These are somewhat better than my previous pair of "lobster" gloves but I was hoping they would be warmer. Still, they are well made and work reasonably well for me.

Great mitts for bicycle riding in the winter. Garish color - just what I want, so that those drivers can see me. I have very large hands and XXL was probably the right idea. But I'm keeping them. I use them everyday.

They run a tad small, otherwise outrageously warm gloves, I intended to wear them while I bike to work in the morning, I could only wear for the handful of days in the single digits last winter these are that warm.

8.1.2015

Use them for winter bicycle riding so far so good down to about 40 degrees F. Have not tested them in more extreme cold but at 40 plus wind at least 15 mph created by bike riding they work for at least an hour

Great Lobster Gloves however they run about one size too small. I'm a large and had to purchase and extra large. they keep me pretty warm. so far I've been out in sub 30 degrees F and my hands were warm

These gloves have a great fit! They are comfortable, and flexible and kept my hands very warm in 35 degree weather. I strongly recommend for biking in cold weather.
