I have used this tent for seventeen days of camping. I am very pleased with it. It's the toughest (material and poles), most spacious and best value for money tent I have ever owned. Although this tent is a 4 person tent, it is larger than some 5 person tents I have seen. It is by no means a small 4 person tent, but I recommend it for up to 2 people if they have a lot of camping equipment/ supplies. I am really pleased all the tent poles are steel as this makes the tent much more sturdy. Some tents of a similar or slightly higher price have a mixture of steel and fiberglass tent poles. I do not think this combination of poles are sturdy in high winds. There was one camping day of high winds of at around 30 mph.The tent did not flap around much and was very sturdy. The wind was hardly noticeable when I was inside the tent but very noticeable outside the tent. With my previous tents, they flapped around so much in windy conditions that it appeared to be more windy when inside the tent than it actually was outside the tent. I can only fault the tent with two things: The nylon 'step' is too high at the foot of the main door and when I was tired I kept tripping over it. Also, in storm wind conditions I think it would have been better if there had been two side doors opposite each other, as they could both be opened to allow a storm side wind to pass safely through the tent, known as ventilating a tent. However, if I ever think the wind is too strong for the tent, I could possibly collapse it by removing the easy to remove Delta Ground Anchors (I purchased separately) from one end of the tent and just sleep in my car overnight. Hopefully I will not have to do this. Most of my previous camping expeditions were with a motorbike and I have not had the opportunity to do this and have had to put up with tents either collapsing or almost collapsing in high winds. Overall, this is a fantastic tent and I am very pleased with it.

The tent is big, and easily accommodates 2 adults and 2 kids. It's not the perfect tent, as I could still improve it in minor details, but for the price it's rather close.Being able to merge the two bedrooms is nice, if you have small kids. Also being able to completely separate them (the divider zips all the way round) is also nice. The steel poles are sturdy and easy to assemble. The structural rigidity is fine, I didn't had any fear of the wind tearing it down, so I don't mind it being heavier that a carbon rod counterpart.Cons:My only minor complaint is the ventilation: dew can actually accumulate over night despite all the ventilation slits open (but the two doors closed). Also,it would be nice to be able to open the huge window opposite the side door. There is no rain cover over the side door, so if it start's to rain, you better run and close it, lest water comes in.Also, it would have been nice to have the outer surface of the ceiling to be white, as it can get rather hot in there if you can't find a nice shaded spot.Pros:It's a quality product, never leaked, not even in an intensive rain.It is sturdy, not just feels sturdy. Having small kids this was a major selling point for me.Versatile: if you buy the front extension too, you can have anything between 1 (but why would you do that?) to 4 rooms. It is possible to erect by a single, but determined person (if you are tall enough).Completely enclosed, no bugs can enter it.I recommend getting the carpet as well, it's really nice. If staying more than a few nights, the front extension comes in handy too. I added some carpets to the bedrooms and the front extension as well, those really makes the difference. Also: get the footprint too.I would recommend this tent if you are looking for a big family tent for a family of 3 or 4, and weigh is not an issue.

Just back from a weekend in Snowdonia with this tent. It is a massive improvement over our old 4 man dome tent, and we are really happy with it. It was reasonably easy to set up with two people but took about 30-40 minutes our first time setting it up. Sub 30 minutes seems reasonable for our next trip, now that we know how it works. The steel poles were a huge selling point for me, but one criticism is that the crimped joints don't do a great job of preventing rotation about the pole axis, hence only 4 stars. After 6 hours of gale force winds and heavy rain that broke and blew away other tents, this was still standing with not a peg askew. Also, thanks to the bathtub ground sheet, clever venting, and separate bedroom, we were completely dry despite there being about 2 to 3 inches of water on the ground around the tent after the storm. The interior is really spacious and people 6' and under will have absolutely no problems standing up and moving around. The 'living room' section is great, with a window and two large doors. During the storm we opened the front and sat on chairs in the living room and watched the rain lash the lake (we pitched the other end of the tent into the wind, obviously). This is a great couples tent, but I think 4 would be a little cramped although totally dooable, there is room for two double airbeds. All in all this is a great tent that makes being in the rain actually kind of nice.TLDR: Great tent with lots of space for 2 to get up and walk around in. Incredibly sturdy and waterproof. Relatively easy to set up. Steel poles are a great bonus -- better joint design would give 5 stars. Would buy again.

Good solid tent with plenty of head room, surprisingly easy to put up for such a large tent, having got the hang of it I can do it single-handedly in about thirty minutes. The trick, incidentally is, after getting the frame in place, anchor one end with the central guy, then go round the other end, with a peg and mallet ready, and from there pull it all up like a ship in a bottle, anchor that end, adjust everything, then peg it all down. Steel frame great in wind, used it on the North West coast of Scotland last year in gale force winds. Also means it weighs a lot, about the same as a heavy suitcase (it says 17 Kg on the bag), and is fairly bulky, probably not a problem if travelling by car.Two slight down sides, the "porch" is really just styling, and the wings flap uncontrollably in very high wind and are impossible to keep pegged down, I ended up taping them to the frame with gaffer tape. The manufacturer would do well to lose this feature altogether, though to be fair we are talking about extreme conditions. Also it is impossible to get back in the bag after use, I now put the inner tent in a separate bag. Why not loose pack it? It is never going to be a hiking tent!

I've used this tent in some fairly extreme weather and it took all a Scottish autumn storm could throw at it. I demand a lot from my tents, I normally use Hilleberg, but this Coleman Da Gama4 has proven to be great value. The tent is very heavy at 22Kg and is extremely difficult to get back into it's bag. Other than that, you have a sewn-in groundsheet, over 6ft/180cm of headroom, a spacious bedroom that can be divided into two, a large, airy, lounge area with room for two recliners and a large kitchen. The material used is strong and we haven't had any tears or holes despite having two large dogs. The Da Gama4 has two door options so you can always have one door out of the wind. The zips are somewhat weak and this is where the tent loses a star. The heavy steel poles are very sturdy and if you pitch the tent correctly it will handle 45mph+ winds coming in off the Atlantic. Would I recommend this tent? Sure, it's great value.

This tent is an example of what proper camping should be. The way it is put together and the ease with which it is erected is terrific, and when it is up it is as secure and sturdy as any tent Ive seen. There are a fair number of guys that need pegging out, though to be safe, you need 'em!! All the linking and folding back is done by neat toggles that link together in seconds. The sealed in groundsheet is nice and thick and if you go for the extra carpet, it makes it really snug. I don't really understand the "porch" jobbie, which Coleman claim to be the place for your wellies if it is wet!! Well - you COULD put them there, if you want to collect the rainwater! That is a small raised eyebrow from me because this roomy tent is just the job for couples, families, or just a load of good friends! Theres room in the living quarters for a dinner party.Heartily recommended - and good value for what you actually get.

Fantastic tent - bath tub style means ground sheet sewn into the tent itself means no drafts keeps tent nice and warm, stands steady in the high wind. completely dry by far my favourite tent I've had, brilliant design plenty of space. big front door. nice big side window and side door.nice sized bedrooms. used this tent 3 times now, on the first night it rained and it leaked slightly i was concerned, but i have been away twice since then in worse conditions than the first night of using the tent and not a drop of rain has come through. I was told this is something to do with the fibres in the tent, so its good to get your tent out first time round and let it have a good shower,i was told once its been rained on the fibres then seal the tent completely making it even more water resistant.

Very happy with this tent. Solid in the wind, Much more stable than the other tunnel tents on the campsite! Large living area, and cosy with the optional tent carpet. The sleeping area is not massive but adequate. We used the separate ( removable) section for bags etc and turned the other 2 bedrooms into one, ideal for three single airbeds but not much else.Easy to pitch. Look it up on utube as the instructions are rubbish.Fly screens on both doors a nice touch. It is heavy though, almost to heavy for me to carry any distance. I keep the poles out of the main bag to keep it manageable. That's what you get for sturdy steel poles though! All in all very happy,a good tent at a very reasonable price.

A perfect tent. All fully sewn in which is great for cooler camping that we did in Scotland. The two doors both have mesh fly nets too which keeps out pesky insects and would be brilliant to use in hotter climates. Great height in the lounge and bedrooms. The sleeping area can be opened up to be one large bedroom but the zipped divider is much better than some others I have seen in other tents. It was our first tent with steel poles. Heavier but sturdier! This tent met every specification that we wanted.

We've had this tent for a good 5 years now, with no issues at all. It is large - particularly with the "porch" extension, sturdy and comfortable for a family of four. We've got it up in 12 minutes flat during a thunderstorm, survived freakish coastal gails, and lived through record breaking heat in this tent.It is a big tent to haul around - we have a 600L roof boox, which it nearly fills when a groundsheet and carpet are added - but we love it.

20.7.2015

Ideal tent for me. Easy enough to set up with only 3 poles to make up and feels sturdy on the two occassions I have used. Plenty of room in the bedroom and living areas. It feels a lot more comfortable being able to stand up in a tent after years of use smaller tents. I am very pleased with this tent.

2.6.2016

Excellent tent wind rain no problem the metal frame is incredibly sturdy would say it's quite a lump in the bag but worth the extra weight as it really can withstand battering.purchased a couple of extendable poles for the front flap to get a great site awning ..I can't fault it

16.8.2015

Excellent sized tent for family of four and still ok with 6 persons. Easy to pitch. Large front door allows easy access and gives open view from inside out. Inner rooms are separated clearly from outer tent avoiding contact of layers. Outer tent dries quickly.

12.7.2016

it is a very nice tent. i used it for two days camping (two nights), and it was very heavily and long duration raining at one night, there is no leakage of water, very dry inside. and the material of the tent is very strong. and it is easy to establish.

This is a great family tent, really strong poles that won't break, good head height, loads of space (6 man). It stood up to some reasonable strong winds and kept cool in the midday sun. Well made, feels like this will last a quite a few seasons.
