We've been field-testing this CamelBak tumbler for 3 weeks now and give it a lukewarm recommend rating. My wife is the primary user, a former marathon runner and now active mom to a 2-year old. Because of breast-feeding and taekwondo, she's needs to stay hydrated all day and evening. She keeps a water bottle with her all day long, and since discovering vacuum insulated bottles, will never go back to a non-insulated one. For the hot summers we've been getting, an icy cold container of water is so refreshing! We've gone through many many water containers over the last few years, from various manufacturers including CamelBak, Contigo, Nalgene, Kor, Klean Kanteen, etc. Most of them failed specifically because of their poor cap design, which over time leaked, or more frequently, was impossible to clean due to all the crevices that bacteria can grow in and colonize. The worst example is Built NY's bottle, which has a silicone stopper. After a year, bacteria penetrated the material and it was disgusting. It could not be cleaned and had to be thrown out, which felt like a waste of $ (and more waste for the landfill). If you want your bottles to last and be sanitary, the best ones are the ones with simple screw off caps that you can get a scrub brush into and thoroughly clean. There's a trade-off in convenience. The popup one-handed caps usually are difficult or impossible to disassemble and really scrub out.I can't say that Camelbak has solved this problem here. I really don't like the S shaped valve. Yes, you can operate it single-handedly, but flow rate is slow. For hot beverages, that's great, but if you want to chug cold water to quickly quench thirst, it's not ideal. I end up just unscrewing the entire lid. The valve can be completely separated from the lid for cleaning, but it's cumbersome and you will still need a toothbrush to get into the grooves.I do like the rest of the design though. It's a stylish looking beverage container, and the product works as advertised. No sweating is important because my wife keeps it in the bedroom at night and we don't want to ruin the hardwood floors or the night stand with a sweaty bottle.

Last year, my husband and children bought me a new stainless insulated coffee mug to take to work, and I thought it was the height of travel mugs. I think I'm changing my mind and going with this one as the best! The wide mouth is easy to fill, and it keeps the coffee hot for hours. The one I am abandoning as my favorite had a leak-proof lid, but it flips back, and gets in the way sometimes. This is also leak-proof, and I love that you can drink from any side you happen to pick up. The stopper is a twist that allows your drink to emerge from wherever you tip it. It really does not spill at all when it's locked down. The only little nitpick is that you cannot tell easily by looking if the stopper is open or closed.I could see trying to drink from a closed cup, or unfortunate accidents if you think it's locked down and it's not. This isn't a game-changer, you just want to double check it before you toss it in a bag by feel rather than by sight. The wide mouth also makes cleaning easy, and the "normal" diameter of the circle bottom fits better in my car's cup holder than the slim one I currently use, which rattles around some.I highly recommend this item!

What this travel mug excels at is keeping hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. The vacuum insulation works so well! For example, this morning I poured a cup of coffee before leaving the house at 8:30. I sipped at it to and from my son's orthodontist appointment, when I went to drop him off at school, and while driving to work. When I walked into my office at 10:40, the coffee was still so hot it was borderline burning my tongue. This travel tumbler will absolutely keep your hot beverage hot for hours at a time. How you feel about the lid will depend on what you drink. If you want a vacuum insulated mug to keep a beverage cold, this will work but you will only be able to take small sips at a time. When the lid is fully open, you can drink from any side of the mug, but the liquid comes out very slowly. For hot drinks like coffee or tea, this is fine. If you want to chug some water on a hot day. this lid will frustrate you. On the other hand, you can fill it with a nice cold adult beverage and sip away all day!The tumbler fits into my car's cup holder just fine. It doesn't leak when the lid is fully closed, it looks nice, and feels comfortable to hold.

For years I had the CamelBak Forge mug but I accidentally left it in a stall inside the men's room at Miami International after Super Bowl LIV and the person after me took it. Like who does that? Anyways, I bought the Hot Cap Travel Mug and have been suing it ever since. In comparison to the aforementioned Forge mug, this product is more of a thermos than a travel mug. Your hot liquids will not cool down for at least four hours and you will burn the inside of your bottom lip. I make tea every morning and drinking from the Hot Cap Travel Mug is akin to sipping boiling water right from the kettle. It is not uncommon for me to make tea at 6am and finish it, still warm, around 10am. That said, the top is a lot simpler and easier to use and clean than the Forge, but you don't have a lot of control of how much liquid you release at every sip so be prepared to wipe your face, neck and collar. Maybe CamelBak could include a bib. While the Forge was more functional and ergonomic, I sill like the Hot Cap and will keep using it until I leave somewhere and need another.

Well made and seems like the simplicity of the drink-thru lid will ensure it will last a long time. No leaks!! Insulates pretty well, though, at times coffee starts to cool before I finish drinking (probably around 4 hours). Durability seems good. Have already noticed some scratches within first month, but purely cosmetic. Cleaning is easy but a larger diameter would help with that. What I miss most about my other travel mug is a handle. If there was a detachable handle I could remove it when I put it in my backpack side pocket, then attach it when I'm at my desk, airplane, or car for easy drinking. Without a handle it has slipped from my hands a few times, but it's understandable why there isn't one as it would compromise the portability and if it were built in, would likely affect the insulation. Overall an excellent purchase and worth the money.

I travel frequently and am very picky about the temperature of my drinks. I want my cold drinks cold and my hot ones hot. Luckily this sleek cup delivers. Hot beverages don't slip off into that disgusting tepid range and cold ones don't becomes unappealingly warm. Capacity is good and it fits in most standard cup holders. I only have a few quibbles. The first is with the cap. Would be nice if there was an indicator or an arrow to showwhen it is closed. Yes you can figure it out but any one who is pressed for time can let this slip. Make it easy to asvoid spills. If it is closed properly it is basically leask proof. But if not, you will risk a spill. The second is that the top pasrt is dishwasher safe while the bottom is not.Have it all or nothhing. However. these are minor points and I am enjoying the cup immensely.

To test this, I made a cup of tea. I poured the boiling water directly into the tumbler with the tea bag. I was happy that the outside of the cup stayed the same temperature. Even without the lid, this cup kept the tea blistering hot. After about a half hour, when the tea was a drinkable temperature, I sealed it up and went out for errands. When I went to drink from the cup more than 2 hours later, it was just as hot as when I sealed it.The only 'problem' I had was figuring out the lid. It's very different from any other lid I've had. Once I figured that out, it was easy to drink from. I highly recommend this tumbler to anyone who wants to keep hot drinks hot. Even when the lid was 'open'(cap on but center thing turned to drink), it kept the drink the same temperature. Definitely worth investing in this tumbler.

This isn’t my first insulated coffee cup, but it has easily become my favorite because of the lid. Being able to drink from any side without thought is a game changer. It performs to my expectations, as well as any cup ever has and can be washed in the dishwasher. The only thing that I found lacking was the amount of time it keeps coffee hot. I filled mine up and then left it on the counter when I was interrupted. I returned in the evening and the coffee was stone cold. It’s not a huge deal for me, I drink my coffee pretty fast. It rarely lasts an hour. My one negative comment would be that if you have reason for keeping contents hot eight hours, consider one of the more expensive vacuum cups.Otherwise, I recommend this tumbler for doing all I need and for its 360 degree cap.

I originally got this bottle for my husband as he uses insulated tumblers and bottles daily for work. However after using this cup it quickly became a favorite for me so I use it for myself. It keeps my coffee hot during my busy day which is great. I did test it overnight with a cold drink and it was still cool the next morning but I prefer bottles for cold drinks. The cap works well, no spills so far and I have dropped it a few times while walking the dog. I like the twist option and not looking for which side of the cup I can drink from. It washes up nicely and thoroughly, no funky scents after using it daily for weeks. Overall it is a great hot beverage tumbler, and decent for cold drinks as well,I really love the lid and how convenient it is to carry.

This is a nice-quality cup, as are most CamelBak products. So why only four stars? Because you have to twist open the top and twist it closed. That might be fine in some situations. But in others, it's very inconvenient. You might not have two hands available; you might be driving, for example. And if you don't close it each time, you risk spilling liquid everywhere. Plus, it's not a great idea to be out in public and constantly opening and closing your drink with your fingers. The cup I prefer has a button you squeeze as you grip the cup to access the liquid. Finally, the cup is not dishwasher safe, though the lid is.Perhaps the extra insulating is worth these trade-offs for you. Or maybe not.

I love everything Camelback! I already owned a hot& cold thermal bottle. I was asked by some friends and family" do you go to bed with that bottle?" because I take it everywhere with me! When I found out about the hot lid, I couldn't wait to get one! Now I can take my hot coffee in one and my ice water in the other! Great design! No spillage and hot coffee that stays hot for most of the day! I have about 5 or 6 other mugs & bottles but none of them ever stand up to my Camelbacks!! My search is over! I've found the best of both worlds!I urge everyone to give them a try! If you're not amazed, you can always return them to Amazon. I know that you won't!

This is my third product from camelbak. Keeps hot drinks hot for ages. I've made my. Own coffee/tea in it and had it filled at coffee shops. The seal is amazing, no leaks at all. Easy to drink out of with a twist of the cap. Cleans easily, the drinking/sealing cap comes apart, there isn't a sliding or groove section that gets gunged up. Goes in the dishwasher. It holds a large latte from the shops which then goes in my bag. It lies horizontally, gets knocked about, no leaks at all. I love it and have ditched my other travel mugs, bought one for my friend and recomended it to others who now have them too.

I love the high quality of the thermos. Liquids stay hot (or cold) much longer than any of my other thermos cups. That portion of the design is excellent and for that I gave the thermos part five stars. My problem is that it leaked on me twice after I thought I had closed the top. It is easy to close the top improperly and end up with a spill. I took off one star for that because it is a design flaw that could easily have been avoided by providing closure indicator lines. I finally solved the problem by adding my own marks with a red magic marker. If I die from ink poisoning I will take off another star.

*update after a week of using the mug*Hot coffee with added cold cream stays piping hot 8 hours with the stopper closed. It insulated significantly better than most tumblers, so we'll that I've found the coffee stays a little too piping hot in the morning. I typically leave the lid off for 10-15 minutes to let it cool at first. The screw in stopper does not need to be in place to use the mug. You can remove that stopper and just use the mug similarly to a capless yeti or Ozark tumbler. I've found this is the easiest if you use it every day, the coffee doesn't spill and it still stays very hot.
