Comfort from the outset, No breaking In, Even better comfort than a gel saddle.I have just started cycling again after a lot of years, In my early days I had the Original Brook's B series Leather saddle fitted to my bike Wonderfull Saddle after its broken In, But that takes a very long time and miles to do, but then you have a most comfortable Saddle, there is also maintenance to carry out ie use of Brook's leather treatment periodically, Tensioning of the Leather after some time, also keeping it dry or prevent prolonged periods of time in rain. Now This Cambium all weather Saddle is a Totally different Concept, No Breaking In, No Treatment,No tensioning. This Saddle is not leather its made of rubber with an all weather impregnated surface.Comfort is gained by the way this saddle flexes, the principle is like a hammock suspended from the nose of the saddle and from the rear, giving a suspension effect. This saddle model is the C19 and what that means is this model is more for the 90deg upright riding position, I ride slightly less than 90deg but still find this saddle comfortable. If you have a more aggressive riding style, dropped bars etc, then you should go for the Cambium C17 series. To sum up If i was doing a lot of miles each day I would probably have gone for the Original Brook's B series leather saddle, most uncomfortable until you eventually break it in, then you have yourself a very comfortable saddle, which will last for years.I don't do that many miles on a bike anymore and to break a saddle In would have taken far to long hence going for the Cambium, I don't think its as comfortable as a fully broken in Brook's Leather saddle by any means but its not bad either. In my opinion I don't think the Cambium will last as long as the original leather saddle, time will tell. The Original Leather B series Is totally British Made by Brook's, The Cambium Is made by Brook's but In Italy. My suggestion to anyone interested In A Brook's Saddle would be to go to the Brook's web site, Not to Purchase from there because on Amazon they are better priced, but just to check out the range and read all about the differences between there range and see how they are made.

This is my second Cambium, the first was a C17 (slightly more narrow). This replaced a battered and long suffering B17 on my Surly Pugsley, a bike that has served me as an all season commuter and snowy weather trail rider.Having ridden Brooks leather for going on 40 years now, I was both intrigued and put off by the though of a what is basically a rubber saddle. Rubber under my butt? We're a leather devotee, pal. Steel is real and Grant Peterson is a god.Couple of years, reading reviews and opinions, I warmed up enough to try one out on one of my fixed gears. I was pleasantly surprised. Took a bit of fiddling to get the adjustment right (more nose down than I keep my leathers), but once I got it,it was amazingly comfortable, comparable in every positive way to my B17. The C19 (this saddle) is a bit wider at the rear, not quite as wide as my B68 style, but noticeably wider than the C17. Its recommended for the more upright position, which is perfect for the Pug. If you've ridden Brooks leather, you'll still note a difference, closest I can describe it is riding in (leather) vs riding on (cambi). With the leather saddle you felt as though you were suspended, you don't get quite the same feeling with the Cambium. That's not saying the Cambium isn't comfortable, it is, its just not a Brooks leather.I love the fact the saddle is basically impervious to the weather, the muck of the trails. The B17 held up admirably, but needed periodic maintenance. The Cambium just says bring it on.The juries still out on long term comfort, I've only done 50-60 miles at a time on a Cambrium, the leathers kept me in comfort through 100 milers. I liked it on the fixed gear, I like it on my Pug. I'd probably like it on all my bikes.

Like many bicyclist who regularly go on rides of over an hour or more in length, I have bought several different bike seats hoping to find that dream saddle. Over the course of riding for 12 years I've owned over 10 different saddles ranging from $40 to $200 and while some of these only lasted a few rides, I've given all of them a fair "chance" of getting broken in and becoming comfortable. This Brooks Cambium saddle is one of the few I've owned that was immediately comfortable and it has only gotten more comfortable with use. I've not had any of the problems of discomfort with hot spots or tender areas that I experienced with other saddles. The saddle has no padding which I think for me makes it even more comfortable because I don't have to wiggle around to find that "broke in and comfortable" spot and it allows the padding in my bib shorts to do what they are designed to do. I have another Brooks saddle but it is leather and still extremely comfortable but it did require some breaking. The waterproof characteristic of this saddle is more appealing to me because I don't have to worry about keeping the leather conditioned nor do I worry about getting caught in a summer afternoon rain. I am going to buy another of these for my second, older, "rain" bicycle and I have no problem recommending this seat to someone who is trying to find comfort on their bicycle who does long rides on a true road bicycle. This saddle comes in three width to suit most people's riding styles and someone would benefit from going to Brooks' website and reading about the purpose and benefit of the different widths before buying one for themself.

Rode an hour straight out of the box. After some fiddling it felt quite comfortable. Some fatigue on the sit bones, but no pain, numbness or actual discomfort. One hour is hardly enough time for an honest review but I can say this much:- I’m not sure about what “they” say concerning sit bone-to-saddle ratio. By that ratio this saddle should be too small for my 130mm sit bones, but I feel the C17 would be entirely too big.- Reviews are largely spot on about there being little to no break-in time.- The cutout does take some getting used to. It’s nice and breezy and doesn’t pinch at all. But if you’re not just right in the saddle it does feel like there may not be enough material for support.Altogether I’m looking forward to more miles in the C15 and updating my review.Update: I returned it.I still believe it’s a quality saddle, but ultimately not for me. I use my bike mostly in the city and for more than just exercise. When I had my bibs on it was a perfectly fine saddle. The flex and the... umm... amount of me that went through the cutout were a little much, though, when just wearing shorts or jeans.Finding the right saddle involves a lot of riding and experimentation. The hunt continues for me, but I wouldn’t dream of accusing Brooks of making a bad saddle. It’s - unfortunately - just not *my* saddle.

I have found this to be a very comfortable saddle. Note that Brooks has multiple sizes and styles in their lineup, but I chose this one that had a similar shape and size to another saddle I like. I like the look. It is quite simple, so it looks good on most any bike.I have had it on my bike for over a month, and have done a lot of rides a couple hours or more, and one day of 12+ hours over mixed surfaces. It took me a few tries to get adjusted just right because there is flex in the middle, so what looked like a level mounting felt more like nose up when I rode. Once it is adjusted, though, that flex really makes for a comfortable ride. Since then, I haven't had any issues with comfort.Initially when I was finding the optimal position,I was sitting too far back, and found that the metal pieces along the back were digging into my sit bones. Since I adjusted the position, I haven't had that problem again.I can't say yet what the longevity of the material will be, but it seems to be holding up well so far.The only real downside I can think of is that it is a bit heavy. Not ridiculous, but noticeably heavier than a similar saddle I have, and about the same as a much larger, more hefty looking saddle. I think the comfort is worth a little bit of extra weight, though.

Purchased both of the above and they're super comfy, well made and suit my bikes better than the leather versions. The all black look good too, more discreet than the natural colour versions.C17This is on my bike packing bike, it's more durable than the leather. I can leave it out all night and not worry about rain damaging it. I find it really comfy but it doesn't appear to be as flat across the top as a b17, which I also love. It has a certain amount of flex which I find adds to the comfort. This all weather looks more rubbery on the top compared to my other c17, so less chance of holding any water. It also has bag loops for my carradice.C15carvedThis is on my gravel bike which has a 2inch bar drop and I find the narrow saddle more comfy. The carved bit helps for obvious reasons. It has all of the properties of the above c17.One thing that you need to know is about flex on the c15c, it's much more than the c17. When I'm holding the bars the flex is great but I wouldn't like to put this saddle on an upright bike. It would flex too much, especially if you're a larger rider. Take note on the seat post style too, the bolts on mine had to be cut down because they were very close popping into the carved section and going up my ****.Love them both.

I was hesitant at first to get this saddle. Wasn't sure it would feel and ride as well as the leather version, which I have on my road bikes and single speeds. I wanted something more waterproof for my mountain bike so I went for it. The only noticeable difference was the "feel" of the material. The leather saddles are a bit slick at first and you have a tendency to slide a bit. The Cambium has a slightly roughened texture on it which keeps you where you need to be. The flex that you get from the leather Brooks has been copied to a T. The feel is uncannily Brooks for certain as you ride. I was trying to concentrate on it while I rode, but quickly forgot several times that I was trying to look for differences.Being made of rubber I have no fear that it's perfect for wet, muddy conditions. If you love your leather Brooks as I do, and you're on the fence about the Cambium let me quell your fears. This is through and through a brooks saddle, acts like a brooks saddle too. I'm sold on it and if I get another bike, when I get another bike, I would not hesitate to buy this saddle again.

You know when you knowBike seats. I need to look over my ebay account to see how many I’ve sold off over the yrs. some were pro-deals other straight retail purchases. In the end, based on application, B17But it has its share of limitations as noted a million times on any number of forums or sites. Back in the days of cross the country and back on a go anywhere bike, the b17 is amazing. A few days of sweating on it, and it’s golden. These days the handlebars are lower than my touring bikes so the C17 is a given. I tend to think of it as a more flexible Fizik Aliante, esp in terms of shape. On my current gravel bike it’s been amazing. I’ve adjusted it a few times, small tweaks, against the suggestion of Brooks (for me, it feels best with the nose a bit higher than level to the floor (again borrowing on Fizik’s suggestion for their saddles - find the YouTube vid for clarity if you’re curious )).The flex you feel is almost like a broken in B17, but not exactly. B17 (without the laces) always felt like they flared out a lot. I’ve yet to notice anything close on the C1

This is one of my Cambiums, the other one which I've also reviewed is a C19 - slightly wider at the rear.I've been a Brooks man for 40 years, riding Colts and B17s, Flyers, various sprung variants of the B68. It took me a while to warm to the though of a rubber Brooks but after a couple years of rider reviews I decided to try one on my fixed gear commuter.I was impressed. Took a little time to get it dialed in but once it was settled, it was fantastic. On the fixed it felt better than the Brooks B17, that was probably more due to the 17 having a slight nose up attitude versus the Cambi sitting level. I found the C19 to be just a comfortable on a Pugsley though. If you've ridden the leather variants, you'll notice the difference. The fact that there is a difference isn't indicative of anything lacking or undesirable, saddles are a very personal preference. I find both to be very comfortable, with maybe a slight edge to the leather, but that might be simply the fact I've ridden them more.Come the time I need another saddle, I'll be hard pressed on the choice.

I originally tried this seat on a friend's bike for a few miles. I ended up ordering it two days later and have roughly 250 miles on it now. I ride primarily gravel with occasional road.I measured my sit bones and ordered the size I needed. This is by far the most comfortable seat I have owned. The cutout allows for some flex that really helps with the bumps. The unboxing experience is amazing, as well as the overall presentation. Attaching the seat and setting it up is fairly straightforward. I used a laser level to adjust the angle for initial setup and tweaked it through several rides for my overall fit.The build quality is outstanding. It does well in rain and dusty conditions,as well as very hot days. I drove with the bike about 800 miles on my rack to Colorado in the summer heat and it wasn't blistering hot or looking like it was melting. It held up great for several rides, as well as the journey back.I have recommended this seat to everyone who asks about it and will so for the foreseeable future. This is a buy it for life purchase. And your bum.

Previously ordered the 19 non cutaway. Loved the design, feel, texture etc. Just didn't fit at all. Texture iffy and sticky. Took the chance so ordered the 17c. Oh what a difference, realized I oriented the seat to far forward when wanted the opposite. Yes does make a difference. The cut out does as well. Have aligned in a favorable position to remove pressure points that I believed was designed to minimize.I believe Brooks has listened to their customers complaints regarding the prior surface texture of the Cambium seat being too rough and way too tacky/sticky. The present one I received appears to have an improved surface big time.Slightly less tacky/sticky......and less of a coarse texture. It feels much better as to a bit smoother texture by all means. I have no prediction as to how the ultimate wear factor will be. My regard/hunch is it will be a great comfortable seat with great traits until it isn't!! I received this package 2 days early, so salute to the seller from Vermont!! I do recommend this product as well as the seller.

I put this saddle on my Giant Toughroad, which has a more upright riding position. I found it to be one of the most comfortable saddles I have ever used. I'm a big guy and the C19 carved was a perfect fit. I have tried Brooks saddles in the past and quite frankly found them to be extremely uncomfortable. The "break in" period was more than I could take. But this saddle is truly "broken in" out of the box. One minor note on installing this saddle, you may need to tip the nose up, just slightly. I generally set my saddles level, but the all weather surface is a bit slippery. By tipping the nose, I was able to eliminate sliding forward. I also have concerns about the construction, since the frame of the saddle is made of plastic, rather than aluminum, so I'm not sure how long term or heavy use will affect it's durability. It's also pricey, but all Brooks products are expensive. You get what you pay for, right? At the end of the day, what matters most is comfort - and this is an extremely comfortable saddle. I highly recommend it.

I have five bicycles and all had leather saddles aged from two to 45 years. In the last few years (I'm 70 and a very experienced cyclist) I have found it increasingly difficult to sit on the saddle for more than an hour, even on my completely personalized Brooks Professional from the early '70s, upon which I have ridden many centuries. I thought I would try the Cambium as maybe having enough 'give' to allow me to ride comfortably for longer. This saddle did NOT solve my specific problem, which has to do with biomechanics. On the other hand, I put the saddle on my mountain bike, which I often ride if it is wet out, and I have found it works fine for an hour or so, especially if you change your position over varied terrain.A nice thing about this saddle is it won't be wrecked if you have it in the bike rack during a rainstorm. I messed up a leather saddle that way. I think for a lighter person, with a regular, balanced cycling motion, this saddle would be as good or better than any other non-leather saddle.

Look, you came here looking for a weather proof or vegan friendly version of the B17. I either of those two reasons are an absolute must, you likely can't beat the C17 for it's price point. However, you have to realize you are sacrificing a level of comfort. If comfort is of utmost importance, and you can no issues with leather, and can tend to it's extra care demands, go for the B17. The C17 is a great saddle, really. It's grippy, for better or for worse. Took about 80 miles to break it in and have a noticeable comfort improvement. It's not going to realistically compare to the feel of a broken in leather saddle, but it's still quite acceptable. It's relatively light, and well built. If you're use to saddles that go for half the price, you will certainly notice the difference upon using this one. Worth it, again, for a really good non-leather alternative to the B17, but not quite a B17. The trade off's are in the durability and comfort. You decide what's more important. No major losses either way.

Now that I have over 3000 miles on this saddle, I can give it a proper review. Overall, it's a keeper. It's definitely the most comfortable saddle I have ridden; and I've tried many of them. Everyone who see's it for the first time always comments on how uncomfortable it looks - and they aren't wrong. There is no padding and it looks like very uncomfortable. However supple padding is the last thing I want when sitting on a saddle for 4+ hours at a time. I ride 50/50 between the hoods and drops and it's just as comfortable in either position (I have the seat level with the ground).I'm sold and I will never ride any other saddle. I've ridden through the hot summer, downpours, snow, freezing temps, and the monotonous indoor trainer. It's perfectly comfortable and I don't get sore at all - even on centuries. I got the carved version but I'm not sure it was 100% necessary. It has held up to the elements well, and doesn't do any damage to my cycling kit.100% recommended
