I bought this headlamp for a trip to Kenya. Background: I am a runner (ran at a D1 school, Olympic Trials in the marathon, I live in CO and run at night here and in OR). I needed something I could easily use, pack and not take up space, and be very versatile. This headlamp clicked all the boxes (except for one, I'll share that later).First, it uses 3 AAA batteries: Easy to find, replace, etc. I bought some Amazon Basics rechargeables for the trip and was very happy with them. These batteries + the headlamp are the lightest HL I've ever had. (I've had the PrincetonTec EOS and a Fenix HP10). Due to the new tech, this is also the lightest + brightest HL I've ever owned.I had zero problems navigating trails while running with this unit on.Because it's so light, it didn't bob up and down on my head.I really liked the slight touch feature on the side to make this unit go to full power simply. The battery feature works fine, though at night the blue indicator light was an obnoxious hue. I'd rather they use red or green to not destroy my night time vision. The red light is a simple and very usable feature, this is the first time I've had a HL with this option.I like how there were flashing modes (if needed to use as an emergency flasher). The only downside... was the case. It's not waterproof. There is no obvious seal around the battery enclosure, thought the plastic door closes on a rubberized part of the HL case, there is still some space here and especially around the hinge. If Black Diamond wanted to make this bombproof and the best HL in this area, add the waterproofing! I didn't try this in the rain, I can't comment on the unit's ability to hold out H20, but I didn't want to be in Kenya with a paperweight in case it broke.All-in-all, I give this 4.5 out of 5 stars. Thanks Black Diamond for making a great product. Now, go make it amazing!

It's not the kind of thing that I really want to go cheap on as I expect to use this for many, many years. So I don't mind paying top dollar for a high quality headlamp. Nice tight beam, easily adjust the brightness. You can read all about the features in the product information. For me, worked really nicely.I strictly use this for camping trips, not daily use. I took it to Boundary Waters and as I was alone going solo and it was supposed to rain the next morning, I decided to enter into the park at around 11:00 PM and do a nigh time portage. Did a very good job of lighting the trail which was somewhat rocky but mostly dry, and getting me through about 1/2 mile of narrow stream with shallow water and many sandbars and rocks.Crossing the lakes it could not light the shoreline very good until I was about 200 yards off and then did a really good job from about 50 yards off. Moon was Waxing Crescent so had a little bit of moonshine to help out. Got to a camp site and finished setting up around 3:00 AM and was able to setup easily enough with just the headlamp.Quite satisfied and hope to get several years of use out of it.

The white light is bright enough, though a little weak if you're using it as a headlight for bike riding. The red light is also pretty weak, although I think suitable for my application. What's really good about this light is that there is a dedicated on/off switch so you don't need to cycle through the various modes just to shut the light off, as is the case with so many of these headlamps. Also, it has memory. After you turn the light off, it comes back on in the same mode it is switched back on.The real problem with the light is that one of the two headband adjusters is on backwards. That makes it a little uncomfortable to wear. The adjuster cannot be removed from the headband,so it can't be turned around. I sent the original unit back because of this but the replacement was the same. Somebody needs to figure it out and start putting the adjusters on correctly.Another good thing about this unit is that it comes with Duracell alkaline batteries rather than some off brand or non-alkaline examples.

After reading many websites that compare headlamps, as well as a heck of a lot of Amazon customer reviews, I decided on this headlamp, and it's exactly as I'd hoped it would be.The bright light is quite bright, and lights up a select area well. The dimmer light illuminates a large area, without any noticeable rings or other inconsistencies in that wide beam of light. The red light is, well, red. (That is a headlamp feature that I believe is highly underrated by most people.) The headlamp is very lightweight and straps securely to my head. The angle of the beam is very adjustable, up and down, and shines downward without glaring in my eyes, which my last headlamp did (what a detrimental flaw!).Haven't tested the battery life yet,but I certainly recommended this headlamp without taking that into consideration.

Bought for fishing, and it was pretty terrible for that, BUT for hiking and night walking I can see that this would be a very good choice.Having spent some time outdoors in various environments I would say (with a small amount of qualification to do so) that this has the functionality needed to merit a pace in your kit. The main beam is good enough to give you the road ahead, whilst the secondary white light is sufficiently diffused to make for in-camp activity ease. Not sure what the red is for - I’ve never actually used it, but then I’m not in the military or aircraft directing game.Would I buy it again? No, but I’m really fussy and I like the build quality of Petzl or the performance of Lenser.Would I recommend it?Yes. It works really well and there’s is a reason it’s popular with trail types.

Wow, I hit the jackpot. Had to return the junky Petzl I ordered, couldn't be turned on/off properly. The Black Diamond just arrived and I did a 10-minute test in my basement. Recently bought a country house and the garage, basement and attic are swathed in spider webs and I needed something to illuminate them for removal. This item (vs Petzl) was packaged in an ecologically sensible way. It appears to be far higher quality, it's simple to use, has an elegant design and WORKS! The lights are nice and bright and I realized now that there are far more spider webs than I ever realized! Thank you Black Diamond for making a excellent headlamp. REI is the website that recommended it as their No 1 General Headlamp.I'll now be using this for many things like spotting bears at the end of the driveway, etc!

I had to return this particular item because it did not arrive on time before departure from the UK, but have since purchased it in the US.I don't know what more you could ask from a headlamp, it simply caters to just about every option imaginable, and does so well. If interested, I recommend you read the specs and features directly, rather than pointing them out here, since there are simply too many of them to do them justice in this limiting blurb. Only to say, I am more than happy with this purchase: it's weight, it's functionality, it's quality, etc.Only thing to watch out for is the correct battery specs, since they are grossly misrepresented in the packaging, and in some advertisements, but correctly stated on their site.

This is the best thing I ever bought that I didn’t know I needed until I bought itI am not an outdoorsman. I bought these to work around the house. I always thought it was a good idea. I just never pulled the trigger on it. I have no idea why I waited so long. My sister who is very outdoorsy recommend the brand while we were working on a house. The controls are very natural. Just read the instructions and you’ll be fine. The battery life is great. Just don’t leave it at full power constantly. Which brings me to my favorite function, the instant full power button. That with memory feature are why I am so glad I upgraded to this model over a slightly cheaper model. Very convenient.

This is not my first headlamp but for my purpose that’s exactly what I was looking for I’d like to do bicycle touring and hiking not always convenient to use recharge batteries or UBs charger have not found a solar powered battery charger worth lugging around yet so I wanted something that uses aaa batteries small waterproof dimmable tilt red light option lock long battery life and most of all it’s comfortable to use stays in place you don’t even know you have it on also really like the feature where it remembers last setting definitely would recommend it I’m actually going to buy two more one for my wife and one keep in my truck

After reading many reviews on headlamps, this one showed up near the top on almost all the lists. I hiked the Sky Pond Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park. Started at 5:30 in the morning. The pictures on show the first level of brightness and I never tried the higher secondary setting. I was very happy with the headlamp. Has lots of features. As you see in one of the pictures the trail was very Rocky and you needed good light and the lamp provided it. Extremely happy with the headlamp. Extremely impressed with Campman the company I bought from. Purchase email, delivery email and follow up use email. Check them out!

I don't know how I've managed without this. I bought this for use around the house, and it's been very helpful. I've used it when I've had to work under the sink and need hands free. Likewise, it's been useful in my crawlspace and up in the attic when I need hands free. Most recently, I've used it in the awkward space beneath my car's glove compartment where I had to bend like a pretzel in order to remove and install a fuse. In the past I've had to balance a flashlight on the floor in order to work with my hands. No more. I congratulate myself on finally getting smart and springing for this very useful item.

I have already requested several items from the store, of which I added another Black Diamond model last season that is excellent so far. However, as I like to be cautious and take advantage of the opportunities presented by TreKKing, I now bought 2 of the Black Diamond Spot 325 models, first to have a backup flashlight and the other because I recommended it to another of the hiking team members . Of the Black Diamond products, only to highlight their quality, as well as the store since I have not had any problem with the items purchased from Chile. So thank you and we will continue to trust you Cristian

Great product. Used on the Inca Trail when it got dark and we still had a few hundred meters to descend. The different beams are very useful as is the lock function. But, I'm not sure why it's listed on here as "Men's" as this is irrelevant to the product, and if you look on the manufacturer's website there is no mention of gender. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case with many kit items for outdoor adventures...So, regardless of what gender you identify with, this product is great to light your adventures and is probably the best price around on here!

I took this light on a backpacking trip in the Uintahs. Because of the wonderful battery meter on the headlamp, I knew that I should trade out the batteries before going. I used it every night, sometimes for hours, and I had plenty of juice for 4 days. I love how you can easily adjust the brightness to conserve battery and to prevent blinding yourself or others when you don't need a super bright light. The very bright option is there when you need it, which is great as well. It is pretty light weight, durable, and all-around fantastic.

I took to the Peruvian Amazon, and was really really happy with it! My favorite was the ability to find spiders (soooo many amazing spiders!) in the jungle, but I kept with me at night when I didn't have quick access to other light forms, and could use to read, find things etc. It also was comfortable, easy to switch between types of light and turn on and off- something that I have found frustrating with other headlamps. The light was really good in all three modes, and I am really happy that I bought it.
