I'm not sure why no one has made a review on this product yet. Here's the quick report.I wanted to buy a good spotting scope for when I go on nature hikes or whatever (I'm a bio undergrad at UCLA), so of course i'm interested in observing natural phenomenon. Anyways, looked online, found this one (but no one reviewed it yet), took a chance and ordered it. My logic was, it didn't have all the accessories that come with other spotting scopes, plus a cheap looking bag, cheap looking tripod, and had a high original listing price. So I figured, most of the quality was invested into the scope itself.Ordered it, and got it within two days via amazon prime here at UCLA dorm.Tried it out, at night,by viewing from within my dorm out the window to another window of a dorm about 100-150 meters away. It's extremely clear, at least in my opinion. Now take note that I have never had one of these devices before, and am brand new at the hobby or interest, so I have nothing to compare with. But to me, it seems extremely clear, at 20 magnification all the way up to 60 magnification (fine focus knob helps a lot). I mean, from 100-150 meters away, at night, I can read the evacuation plan in the other dormitory room. And I can recognize facial expressions very clearly (yeah, creeper status, I know). So, in my opinion, it's an awesome spotting scope, for a good price too. It's got an included lens cover, eyepiece cover, and is simple yet slick looking. Rubber coated, feels nice and light weight, yet feels like it's made of great quality. I'm really happy with this product. I can't wait to use it out on the field. Impressive device, overall. 5 stars based solely on the quality of the scope to price ratio, not anything else (tripod, bag, etc.)

During a recent nature walk with an avid bird watcher, I had an opportunity to see nature through his very expensive spotting scope. The sights were breathtaking, and I got "hooked" on seeing nature up close and personal. Not being able to afford his top of the line scope, I chose the Barska (entry level) spotting scope, knowing that I would most certainly not get the crisp, clear view that I had experienced earlier. Wrong!!! The Barska is intuitively easy to spot and zoom in on an almost secret and overlooked world ofnature. Being a novice, I can't really find a difference (though I'm sure there are differences) in the two scopes beyond the thousand dollar plus price difference. I have experimented, with limited success so far, with digiscoping with the Barska and hope that with a better camera adapter the results will improve. I highly recommend this scope. I do need to say a couple of words about the tripod. It stinks! I also need to say that Amazon's shipping was very frustrating. The scope was "in stock" and, though I chose free shipping, I found it maddening to see the unit marked as "ready for shipment"(or something like that) for an entire week after the order was placed and paid for. When the scope was finally shipped, it took only two days for it to arrive locally. I could have enjoyed this great scope a week earlier. I've got to think that Amazon could do a better job, though I obviously have no idea of the logistics involved.

Overall, this is not a 'great' spotting scope. But for the price, and if you only plan to use it at shorter ranges, it's well worth it.Pros:- Optics (short range): Decent optics at near distances (less than 400 yards). Clear enough to easily read road signs and make out rust and medium to fine detail at those distances.- Overall Build: The waterproofing seems to work well. I haven't left this in a strong storm, but I have had it in drizzle and damp conditions without any fogging. And overall the housing seems well made and reasonably sturdy.- Price: Getting this level of quality at the price I paid is extraordinary.Cons- Optics (long range): At longer distances (350+ yards), the optics become difficult. There's a hazy or fuzzy quality once you hit 500 yards that makes you lose any fine detail no matter how carefully you focus it. You can still make out what objects are down to items maybe six or eight inches in size, but the clarity is not there. For target shooting or serious bird watching, I wouldn't recommend using this scope much past 300 yards.- Focus and Zoom: The controls for focus and zoom are a bit sticky and the grip ring on the zoom will continue to turn past the stop points with very little effort.- Tripod: This is not a quality tripod and you should not depend on it if you want to enjoy your scope. Spend thirty bucks on a decent camera tripod and you will be much happier.

This scope was definitely worth the money. However there are better scopes out there with clearer images for the same price.Out of the package this scope was ready to go. I got it set up and adjusted the magnification and focus to see the other side of my house. After setting up the scope I took a bottle of lotion and was able to read the product description on the back of the bottle (letters about the same size as these). The scope focused very well and the magnification was great. The tripod it came with was not much but fit the bill. It has sturdy aluminum legs and it collapses in for easy carry. The legs are not adjustable however. The piece that hold the scope in place at the top of the tripod, can be loosened or tightened to move the scope or to hold it in one place. While this is a solid buy for the money and I would recommend it. There are better scopes out there. This scope was great but when looking through the lens there where small spots that could not be cleaned off or wiped away ( defects in the glass). The tripod, while sturdy and perfect to set up on a table at the range. It did not have adjustable legs or as sturdy of legs as some other Barska products that where at this price. Also I've found other Barska products that do not have the lens issues that this scope had.Overall awesome buy but there are better Barska products for the same price.

Great Spotting Scope for the price. I received it 3 days ago. I set it up and tested it at about 100 yards. I could read the alarm company sign in a neighbors yard on the next block. I used it today at the shooting Range. I could see .22 and .223 holes on paper at 100 yards. I could also see the hits great on shoot n see targets at 200 yards. That is all I needed it to do and it did Great. The tripod worked fine for me. I set it up where I needed it to be, on the table. I had it focused on My target and my buddy was on the target to the left of me. I could look at my target, or just look from the right side of the eyepiece and see his target. So I could spot for him without moving the scope. No issues with the tripod, it swiveled and locked when and where I wanted it too. However I will put it on my camera tripod next time I take it out. A Quality scope for a Great Price.*Update* I used this spotting scope last night to view a Full Moon. WOW, It worked Very Well. Crisp and clear view. The adjustments worked Great. I'm impressed.*Update* Today I got to use this spotting scope at 300 yards to spot .223 holes in a reactive target and on paper. I could see ALL of the .223 holes on the shoot&see target center. I could also find Most of the .223 holes on the paper once I Fine Tuned the focus.Next Stop.. The 500 Yard Line. I'll update at that time.

Read all of the different reviews on several spotting scopes and ordered this one with some reservation. Arrived today and of course, I had to try it out on something. I scoped a street sign right at 100 yards and went through the powers and focus routine. Clear even at 60 power. Felt like I could "reach out and touch" the sign. Taking it to the range tomorrow for the real test. I only have access to 50 and 100 yards so that will be the extent of the test. I think you would be satisfied with the quality of this scope unless you are a scout sniper and plan shooting beyond 200 yards. So far the only thing that I would even consider dropping a star from the rating for is the warranty. As another reviewer put it, this is pretty much a disposable scope as the cost of repairs under the warranty is not really an option.Update: Went to the range today. Overcast with periodic rain. Scope was clear from 20-60 power at 100 yards. No issues what so ever. The tripod is just the right size to use alongside your scope at a shooting table. I am comfortable that this scope would yield the same results at 200 yards. Decent two compartment nylon carrying case to separate the tripod from the scope. Nice screw on eyepiece cover and attached rubber front lens cover. So ......, if you are looking for an economical spotting scope, this is the one.!

I like this spotting scope for the price of $60 or so. I have been using it to spot targets at the shooting range and it has been fine but I have not really pushed it further than 50 yds. or so. Regardless of what I have read from other reviewers, it has worked very well at that distance. I am not a "telescope guy" or someone that knows about these types of tools. This is the first one I have ever had and it meets my expectations just fine. The only reasons I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it really is very lightweight and feels like if it fell once on a hard surface it may be the end of it. I don't want to find out but it really feels a bit too lightweight. The other reason is that the eyepiece is on the back, designed horizontally, in line with the scope. I am using it to check shots at a shooting range and would have really preferred a spotter with the eyepiece on top, designed vertically so I could more easily just glance down the eyepiece as opposed to sliding over and having to bend and look through the eyepiece. Overall it works very well and looks great also. For the $60 price range I would recommend purchasing this item. Shipping arrived one day ahead of schedule and packaging is excellent.

I am giving this scope 4 stars because it's a good example of getting what you paid for. This scope is exactly what I need, and with the Gold Box deal the price was right. Even at the normal price, it's still a good deal. I can't give it five stars because the scope is just not a 5 star product. The focus is good, not great, and it does not let in quite as much light as you would expect from optics this size. Also the tripod is stable but a bit flimsy. It is, however, good enough for my purposes and probably the best you will find for the price.I had to think long and hard about the 4 vs 5 stars. I know many people belong to the school of thought that the star rating should reflect the overall value of the product.I belong to school that the number of stars should reflect the quality of the product. In my opinion; this is a four-star product at a three-star price. That is the best way I can put it.On a side note: it was shipped to me requiring a signature. This was unnecessary and inconvenient. It did not say anything in the description, at the time I purchased it, about needing to sign for it. This is just FYI and does not affect my rating of the product.

I'm a Canon guy shooting photos with L series lens so I might be a little critical to lens quality, but should translate to general public regarding this Barska.I bought this with the intent to use at a shooting range - indoor or outdoor - to reduce the times I have to pull back the targets or wait for break to run out to the field to view the results. While the Barska will work in most cases, the lens suffers from high levels of chromatic aberration where if the target has any reflective surface such as light hitting metal objects, you'll see double or triple vision which affects your ability to analyze the results. For example,if you're outside using a paper target against metal bullet catcher and if any of the metal show as a frame surrounding the paper target, then the glow from the metal will greatly reduce your ability to determine the shooting results.I've never had this issue with my Bushnell Range Finder so maybe their glass is higher quality. The tripod and carry bags are very nice. For the price I paid, this is definitely a keeper and will accompany me to the range.Strongly recommended except in "high glow" target situations.

I researched and researched and finally pulled the trigger on the Barska CO11502 20-60x60. I received it yesterday and couldn't wait to use it. I took it outside immediately; I used my rangefinder to range a wooden fence at 200 yards. With the scope, I could see the heads of the lag bolts on the hinges! They were black bolts on black hinges and could see them pretty easy. The sky was fairly overcast and humid. none the less, it was easy to see the bolts on the 52 and 60 powers. Today, I HAD to take it to the local outdoor gun range. Again, it was easy to spot 30-30 holes at targets 50 and 100 yards on paper targets. I then switched to a splatter targets at 200 and 250 yards and could see the impact holes very easy.I didn't notice any of the fuzzy or distorted sight pictures other reviews do. Again, today was very overcast and slight sprinkles of rain. It's very humid in south Texas after all the rain we've gotten, but the scope worked better than I had thought. i was worried about the quality of this scope after i read some of reviews, but mine is awesome! I can't wit to see how it works in the full sun and heat, but for now, I'm very happy.

I've been using this spotting scope for more than a year and love it. The price is certainly right.Pros:1. Price2. Carry case3. Tripod included4. Clear-enough optics5. 60x optical magnification6. Easy to focus7. The lens caps have a nice quality feel (odd that something like that would matter, but it somehow does)Cons:1. I own some medium-high end scopes that out perform this guy in edge clarity and brightness, but at 10x the price that is not very surprising. Bullet holes at 100 yards are easy to spot in daylight, and clay pigeons on a berm at 200+ yards are still in the very acceptable range.2. The tripod is not the most stable, but again, what do you expect? It's good enough for me.Final thoughts:I should have purchased this long ago. It's paid for itself many times over in convenience when spotting long range shooters. I wish the eye relief at 60x was a bit deeper, but it's quite passable. This Barska 20-60x60 goes with me on every range outing.

I was really impressed with this scope right out of the box. Waterproof, lightweight, nice feel to it with the rubbery exterior, sleek black look, gives you impression of ruggedness, but its compact with a smart carry bag plus tripod. 1 minute to set up on the nice light yet sturdy tripod. Flip/screw off the nice lens caps and tested at 20x to 60x without my glasses on. Perfectly focused on my very near sighted eyes in the entire mag range. Super clear I could easily see high detail on street lamps over 100 meters away. I had to come back and check the price $80!! Wow. Now the mag could be higher but for what you get here its just an amazing scope IMO. I looked long and hard at a happy medium that was low cost, lighter weight, moderate size, waterproof, not to extreme mag.. this totally works! If your on the fence just buy this. I'm so happy and satisfied with this scope quality, appearance, and general design. I think you will find it is high value for the price.

I was in need of a scope. Binoculars were really getting tiresome to hold for over an hour while I lay stomach down on my couch perusing the city for that perfect replacement to my favorite reality show since I recently had my electricity turned off and had my cable canceled. I know want you're thinking...why wouldn't I just get a bionic sound amplifier and watch the third floor hipster's Reruns of Ink Masters on Spike TV while he oils his beard and drinks a $14.99 craft brew six pack in his gray hemp-smelling beanie he crocheted himself. I'll tell you why, because after viewing high powered rifles I found this amazing BARSKA 20-60x60 waterproof spotting scope.Amazing range and high definition quality unless you are viewing a plasma screen (suggest finding a middle-aged wealthier male who has the best pixelation) plus it works at night and is great for inner-city bird watching for you aficionados out there. 5 stars here for the a view that's clear!

Lets make this plain and simple for all to understand. The scope is rubberized for waterproof protection. The scope is not fragile or light weight. It is built to last. The scope is easy to dial in and adjust the settings to focus for anyones eyes. Several guys tried it and no one had a problem adjusting it to see the paper or the holes on the targets, at any distance up to 175 yards. That's as far as we shot...sorry. You can put it on your tri-pod or the one that comes with it. The soft case is just that, a soft case. No it doesn't have a hard case. So don't throw it around. That was easy enough. The eye cover for the back sight unscrews and you have to store it in the bag.It is not attatched to the scope like the front lense cover. Do i like this scope? I love it, and so did all the guys who went to range with me. So much so they all bought one for themselves too. Can't go wrong with price and name brand!

Not disappointed at all. We got this for a 25-yd viewing distance and got a nice, clear picture. Just for fun, I zoomed it out long range and was able to count the roof vents (7 in all) on a house exactly one mile distant - even caught the heat waves coming up from the roof. I'll be able to deer-watch nicely, too!The scope worked pretty well on my cheap camera tripod on uneven ground - a little jiggly, but nothing to complain about. I also set it up with the tripod included in the package, which is sturdier than you might think and was actually a lot steadier than my regulation tripod. It'll be just fine for our intended purpose. The focusing mechanisms are pretty tight, hence the 4 stars. If they operated a little more easily, I'd give it a 5-star review for the price paid.Shipped promptly, packed well and arrived on Amazon's scheduled date. We're pleased with the purchase.
