I love these brakes (I bought them as a set so this review includes both front and back brakes). Great stopping power, but even more so-great modulation and control, plus they look about as sexy as a set of cantilevers brakes can possibly look.Even though the brakes were highly rated in reviews both on and off Amazon, I have to admit I was taken aback, more than bit, by the price -they are expensive. But I commute over twenty miles day, through Seattle on congested, hilly, and often wet streets, so my brakes are important both for quick-sometimes unexpected stops, and for slowing descents down monster inclines in less than ideal conditions -sometimes simultaneously. I bought both the front and back so the review is for both. These are some of the nicest looking Cantilever brakes I've seen. I'm not too mechanical but was able to install them and adjust them myself (so far so good). Nice and easy to control and fade. I'm sure it doesn't have the same stopping power as disc, but if you pulled hard enough it'll lock your tires just the same. Anyways, why would you ever want to stop on a dime if you're travelling at a decent pace? You know you'd just flip over if you did that. One star off for being so darn expensive.

After years of dealing with weak brake performance on my CX bike, I heard some reviews of these on the net, and I have to say they are as good as caliper road brakes. Very good design, very good feel. I would not have wanted to descend a mountain on my old Shimano cantis, but these are everything. And all screeching is gone. These are the best. I first just bought the front ones as a test, but immediately order the rear ones after a single ride.

I was building a new cyclocross/touring bike. The frame was set up for cantilever brakes and I wanted a quality brake that would also work with STI levers. I probably could have found cheaper ones but the look of these brakes really caught my attention. They are higher priced but the reviews I had read were all good. I have not been disappointed. They brake better than my Shimano 105 brakes on my other road bike.

Great looking and perform excellent. one point of note is that since the springs sit in front of the arms as opposed to behind, you may find that when opening them to remove the front wheel they hit the fork limiting how far they open up. In my case when running wider tires i was unable to remove then wheel without removing one of the brake pads as well. on anything less than 28c it hasn't been an issue.

Great cantilever brake! Powerful and responsive. Had some difficulty with installation, but then again, I'm not that mechanically inclined. The cost of these brakes might put you off, but if you are tired of wimpy OEM cantilevers, then you will be more than happy with these!! (Besides, they are really cool looking).

These stop like almost all other Avid cantis, solid and predictable. The adjustment barrel on the straddle is a nice touch, making an irritating fine-tuning job on other brakes seem dead-simple on these. Dialing in just the right amount of straddle tension takes seconds, and no tools.

Bought these for my cyclocross bike and they now brake like I wished they had years ago. Probably the best option short of making the jump to discs. These are very popular brakes among the cyclocross racing crowd and are well tested and known to be great brakes. Highly recommend!

Definaltey an upgrade from my Avid Shorty 4's. Stopping power is improved but not great. Unlimited adjustable spring tension is a nice addition. Fit and finish is nice.

Rather easy installation process, and much better braking than the stock units that came with the bike. Very happy with the purchase, and their performance.

Very easy to install..and is adjustable ...it make my braking quet and smoother braking..!!!!i use this brake on my singlcross tricross it fit perfect...

Great but very tricky to install. Use the newest 2018 instructions. there are special washers depending on the set of hangers you already have.

Sweet brakes. Best for cross as easy to adjust etc. absolutely love them. Recommend them to anyone looking for a easy to adjust brake
