First of all,There are certain new rules that you have to adjust to.If you played forbidden memories, you may get disapointed with the new rules. So forget everything you previously knew about Yu-gi-oh! and start fresh.There are deck costs, and you can only have a few high attack factor cards in the deck.so that was a huge downer, i am used to play forbidden memories, and have all the good cards in one deck... without restrictions.Then you have the summoning points too.you only have a certain ammount of summonuning points per duel,so if you play: Red eyes black dragon,you can only summon low attack cards on the next turn.However, once you get used to that, it becomes real fun to play.you start to value all the cards,and not just the high Atk factor cards.Many cards have special effects. that will come to your advantage.Graphycs are good, and the new "chess" like environment is fun to play.Controls are also easy, not complicated atall.The intro is to long, and you may find your-self falling asleep.But stay awake, for now you have to choose sides, and offcourse your deck.After you choose wich side you want to take first, you then get the choice of who you want to duel!But your deck may not be strong enough to beat anyone.One of the best things is that you can have three different decks, so you can have three different ways to suit your foes.you also get a deck leader which you have to protect.let it vunerable, and you lose!your leader gets promoted the more you win, so it will unlock special leader abilities, which will also come to your advantage.Another thing is that each duel will last at least 10 minutes, no more quick wins... and if you lose, you will fell like it was a waste of time.sometimes you get really rubish cards after the duel, so that may also feel like a waste of time.Resuming:Learn your cards well, there are very cheap cards that are better than a blue eyes white dragon, etc...Good graphycs.gets fustrating at times.But it's fun... once you have a really good deck.If you are a yu-gi-oh fan, get this game.If not, i would not advise.

It is a great game I personally like the monsters coming alive and how you can move around.Not as in the Game Boy one's were you put them on the field and they stay put its allot closer to the TV series in that way.The game play itself is a bit harder than other games of Yu-Gi-Oh ,the field gives your monsters a advantage and disadvantage, it also reminds me of the dungeon dice monsters cos u move around.In the latest series you see they have a special monster as the deck master the game also has this isn't it.Your deck is a bit less powerful than your opponents but that gives the strategy ago as you have to think about every last move in the game,and eventually build the deck up with cardsthat you win.You don't get booster packs for winning you go on a slot machine and get 3 cards instead which gives the game it's lifespan, but I would have preferred booster packs in the end.The AI is way smarter in the game as to other games as well.The game is based around the War of the Roses hence the name Duellist Of The Roses, yu-gi being Henry Tudor which is all wrong as we all know that's all MADE UP, that the war of the roses was not fought with cards.But that's the story line which is quite good once you get into it, at the beginning you get to choose which side you want to be on YuGi's or Kaiba's also the choice to have a practise duel which I recommend.Now the graphics are pretty good if you ask me ok not the best in a ps2 game but this is only a card game really is it not.You also get 3 cards but I wont tell you what they are as its a surprise.Last but not least or well ok it is, the music it could have done with some different music.Overall I recommend this game to fans of yu-gi-oh with points off.lifespan-9.graphics-8.playability-8.storyline-7.music-5.

If your a fan of the series this is a MUST buy!Life span - 9Music - 1Graphics - 7Story - 7So the story basically you chose 1 of 2 sides, pick a starter deck out of a choice of 3 , and fight your way through a series of known characters from weevil, rex raptor , yugi, joey and many many more. When completed you go down the other story side with all your cards and victories still in place :).You can be beaten very easily in this game if you don't take the AI seriously. You battle in an arena which is almost like a chess board but much bigger, you summon monsters and move them around the board to destroy the opponent , thrown into the mix you have a deck leader. The deck leader can gain special powers through winning,although this is a lengthy process its worth it. The game shows you how to play it quickly and explains it thoroughly. You can also skip the animations of the battles to make it faster.It has all the monsters from duelist kingdom and more. From Dark Magician, Blue eyes white dragon, Exodia and many many more.I really with they would make this again and add more cards for the PS4 ! this is one of the best strategy games of all time.*Just a hint.* If you are a fan or if you have played before or are serisouly into it, there is a action replay cheat disk you can get, and it basically allows you to get 1 of each card in the game, and unlocks cards you CANNOT win, e.g blue eyes ultimate dragon !I'm not sure the name of the disk but definitely worth getting.

This is a great game. I have it and I am late in the game. Not for the casual gamer, but for those Yu-Gi-Oh fanatics it represents a new challange.The cards are now with new abilities. This game comes away from the usual basic battling of Yu-Gi-Oh and creates a movement terrain system using the much talked about Deck Leader system. This makes for heroic combat and battling in what would otherwise be a dull PS2 game.I also like the use of the proper characters. I love gaining the good cards off th seires characters. These include Yu-Gi, Kaiba, Pegasus, Bakura and many more.This game also offers fantastic 2-player tactical battling.Friends can prove their worth against each other and competitions can be organised.During the game the battle graphics spark a great deal of interest into the game and allow usual Yu-Gi-Oh fans to see their favourite monsters in glourious 3D.The only downside is that you can only save one game on each memory card. This can make the game a bit frustrating if you get stuck and need to start again without deleting your current data.This is a fantastic game for Yu-Gi-Oh fans and strategy anoraks alike. Well recommended to these but not to others!!

Duelists of the roses is another of those underated gems.A game of strategy, logic and foresight. Step back to a time when wars were waged by these principles and battles were decided before the first blade was drawn.(The 3+ rating is for cosmetic purpose only, don't be fooled into thinking the game is simple and easy.)The battle system is both challenging and refreshing using the deckmaster system.The deckmaster acts as your general to deploy and lead your troops (the cards), utilising the terrain you can bolster your defences, strengthen your attacks and lay traps to fool your enemy as you move around the field.In the beginning you will feel overwhelmed by your opponents cards and cheated by your lack of powerful cards and the point limit which is where most give in,instead use strategy and tactics to decoy and feint to allow your strongest to take the enemy leader.Though not especially long in storyline the game offers enough variance in battle and tactics to keep you interested.

Before you say anything I am not a Yu-Gi-Oh card freak (sorry fan) and my younger brother bought this for one of my birthdays.This game does have some historical content and tries very hard to make you think that you have free will by letting you choose at the beginning whether you can be good or evil (With Kaiba or Yugi.)That aside though, the rules are different to regular duelling. It involves a grid of sqaures where each card is moved like a piece on a chess board and you have to defend your king known as the leader of your deck. I'm used to complex rules in games and once you get to grips with the rules this can be quite a strategic game with advantages being affected by the terrain,monster affects and trap cards.Yu-Gi-Oh nuts will love this...if you're not though you'll get bored in the end. But then again isn't that the case with everything?

very good game its the best wrestling game evar since shut your mouth.the charictors are so realistic.you can unlock ledgands like rowdy rodey piper and sgt slaughter and many more in order to unlock them you buy them on season and also you get to use your created player in season.there is 3 more great new matches.the brutal elimination chamber which personly i thinck was a let down,first blood match and the oh so dazling bra and panti match.the envirments are good. in the times square you can jump onto a flying helicopter and move it and then also jump off it on too your oponent put in the smackdown arena you cannot climb onto the fist and jump off like in shut your mouth.the create a playerwas a let down and in game is a very high tech and great game fans of wwe go out and get this game

A really great concept, taking in Yu-Gi-Oh and a "chess"-like board, and combining it = Duelist of the Roses. You start with a Deck Leader (your main chess piece), and your deck consists of monsters, traps and magic - much like the real game of Yu-Gi-Oh. The way you summon these is much different however, you use "Summon Points" each turn to play your cards, and you move them around the board to attack the opponent Deck leader. It's very easy to learn.There's a lot of familiar faces in the game, such as Yugi, Seto, Joey, Pegasus; though they're named differently to work with the story of the game (which I found brilliant).One of the best games on PS2, and up there with the best of the Yu-Gi-Oh titles.A must try for any fan of the series, or if you're into strategy and cards.

The Duelists of the Roses is a 100% MUST buythere is menny decks to chose from each name u type for your player name u get a differant selection of cards and the deckmasters are fun to use yep Deckmasters u may of seen them on the recent yu-hi-oh tv serise when thay fighting in the vertual world against the big 5 ( big five are a bunch of cheerters ) i got in to the tv program first i used to like pokemon but pokemon is nothing comperad to yugioh SO GO OUT AND BUY Yu-Gi-Oh! I love this game, the gameplay is EPIC. It is by far the best yugioh game on ps2.i wish i could play this on my xbox because my ps2 broke. It's just such an amazing game. Although the gameplay is pretty complicated, It's so much fun.It's very different from all the other yugioh games; the newer ones all have the same dueling layout and rules, but duelist of the roses has a different rules. i think the 'deck leader' idea is great and i hope they make some more games with this.i rate this game 5 star, i'ts just so much more enjoyable than all the other yugioh games

I bought this game as I'm an avid of the Yu-Gi-Oh series, and to be honest it was nothing like I expected. The plot is naff, and this game was obviously put togethor fairly quickly. Despite that, I've completed the game three times and am half way through my fourth go. If you can ignore the bad story line and the typical subtitled scenes that seem to come with all japanese based strategy games, its a actually quite fun and takes real commitment to win.

I sold it and bought it back, which doesn't happen often, Konami should consider remaking this, maybe change the storyline from the Tudors and work the title into another theme, gardening perhaps? Ahaa I wouldn't recommend a garden theme but as an example, all the game dynamics are sound and entertaining. I'm sure it's up there on the PS2's best-sellers wiki.

I think this is the best game i have ever played in my life. It is a great adventure strategy game with loads of cheats and secrets, to be revealed. Battle through both sides of good and evil. Can you master this great game.

Fun game, I hope there will be another Yu-Gi-Oh! game with the same gameplay style as this one. Very unique. However it is not a game, that is very funny to play, when you have finished the story line.
