Firstly, I avoided leaving an immediate review for this SR alarm range as I wanted it to be more of a slightly longer test to make the review more meaningful. I was wary of buying this alarm due to the highly varied reviews. However, I took the plunge and bought the basic kit, adding on the extra sensors that I needed. I live in a 4 bedroom house built in 1910, so the walls are solid. I did have worried about the 30 metre range and if it would be restricted by the thick engineer brick walls. So, onto installation. Firstly, I plugged the hub into the mains, removed the battery back up rubber plug and connected via Ethernet to one of my WiFi externders. This is an Apple Express which communicates over the WiFi to an Apple Time Machine, which is connected to a Virgin router. To say it was painless is an understatement. I plugged it in and within seconds, I had green lights. The. It came to the sensors. The ones from the kit synced to the hub immediately after I removed the battery protectors. The extra sensors synced perfectly once I had put the hub into learn mode. The only thing I had a problem with was the extra keypad I had bought for upstairs. But that turned out to be my fault, as I was pressing the wrong keys on the keypad to put it into learn mode. Once I got this right, it worked perfectly. With all of the sensors on and the hub on, I downloaded the app, registered, scanned the QR code on the hub as part of this and straight away it all just worked. After this, I modified the way that each sensor operated to be either immediate alarm of entry zone. I also bought an extra siren for the rear of the property and had to learn this into the system. This caused me a few problems as the dip switches had been moved in the siren. After a bit of googling, I managed to clear the memory in the extra siren and it learned into the system no problem. It’s a nice touch to have the tamper switch disabled for 3 hours to allow you time to mount the siren! To be honest, this was the most difficult part of the whole installation - getting up high on the ladders. The only sensor adjustment I had to make was to move one of the PIRs. They are very sensitive and the kitchen PIR was picking up people in the hallway. Because this sensor was set to burglar and instant alarm, it was defeating the entry zone hallway PIR. Easy fix, moved the kitchen PIR so it did not pick up people in the hallway. In terms of the app, I really don’t understand what everyone is whinging about. It is logical and navigates perfectly. I have mine set to send notifications when the alarm is armed or disarmed (to make sure relatives are putting the alarm on!) I also have emails and text notifications set for when a full burglar alarm is triggered. All works perfectly.I think the only thing I would agree with for those critical reviews is, it would be nice to have a SIM option in case the power goes off and the WiFi with it. That would be a nice touch. But if the WiFi goes off, it still continues to operate as an alarm, it’s just the notifications don’t work. The fact this works so well and there is no ongoing subscription is brilliant. Batteries reportedly last for 2-3 years and it is only the siren batteries that will pose a challenge to change due to the height. Cost is negligible really. Having no mains power to worry about removes the common fault on mains alarms where the backup battery causes false alarms. And my solid walls were no match for this system. I have full range bar display on all my sensors.I suppose there could be more configurability in terms of siren length but there’s not much could be done to improve this brilliant system. As long as you are a competent DIYer, you will have no problems!EDIT: Yale have now modified the app and you can adjust the siren length.

I bought the SR-320 model because I already have a CCTV system and don't need the interior motoring camera. I read the app was letting the experience down, So before I purchased I downloaded the iPhone app and learned that it had been updated since a lot of the criticism was aired and went ahead with the order. I also purchased a few add-on Motion Sensors, a couple of extra Window\Door contacts and a partridge in a pear tree - the whole house is covered and the option to customise the package for a decent price, and the knowledge that it now included anti-jamming\scanning technology was paramount to my decision to go with Yale.Setup was fairly simple and straight-forward after watching a couple of YouTube setup video's,adding the extra's was a simple matter after you familiarise yourself with the options in the app and on the web portal, I initially had a spot of bother adding other users, but an answer in the Q&A's here solved that issue. I registered and emailed Yale support because my sms balance was stuck at zero, 24 hours later they emailed me back to let me know they had added 50 credits. I installed the system at the weekend and can say I'm happy with it in general and my settings seem to be relevant to our personal lifestyle, the only reservation I have is the notification of events seems to be either all or nothing - to every user! There's no happy medium ...which is unfortunate! I suppose all users need to know if the status quo has changed in a way that might affect them arming the system, but there should be a way to notify users based on seniority. Minus 1 star for not implementing a separate alert system for master and sub user accounts. The SR-320 + £100 of add-on's is fairly good value (it's also gone down a tenner since I bought it two weeks ago) when you consider it will pay for itself in 15 months when compared to my ageing A*T monitored alarm, which was ultimately monitored by an automated response phone call that any burglar could pick up the house phone and respond to in order to have the alarm cancelled ...rip-off. So here's hoping for at least 15 months of trouble-free operation - If not, I'll be back to update this review and take stars away.EDIT: Hardly anybody seems to return to their initial review and updates with positive feedback, so I thought I would, with good reason.I've had zero issues with this kit in the months since I installed it. Arming and disarming is such a breeze even my Wife finds it easy to get on with! The web portal has now been closed down - possibly due to security concerns, but that doesn't affect the setup or usability of the Alarm in any way, and anything that makes the system more secure by lessening the possible vectors of attack is a good thing.5 Stars.

It's amazing how a break-in changes your buying priorities when you've only been in your new home for 4 weeks! Did a fair amount of research before deciding on this system and I'm thoroughly impressed, Was relatively pain free to get going, but be aware that the app you need to download differs from the one they tell you in the manual (download 'Yale Smart Living' app). Both sirens (internal in the hub, and external on the wall) are ear-splittingly loud, and the sensors on the external alarm box, which set the alarm off if tampered with, are far more clever than I expected. The system is very easily extended (have added another keypad, and 3 more sensors). You also get a very good wireless range from the router, within which to mount your sensors/camera/door sensor. Having had the system fitted for around 6 weeks, the battery level indicators on all sensors don't seem to have moved at all. It's easy to group your cameras/sensors for full, and part arm modes too.I didn't think I'd find use for the smart plug socket but I now have my TV/home entertainmenr running through it. It's generally on for when I'm back from work and ready to chill out, and is set to go off to remind me to limit my screen time. I suppose it's no different to those analogue timer switches, but this is more aesthetically pleasing and low faff to adjust, as another brucie bonus. The only slight disappointment is the still camera (with sensor). I mounted at a height recommended in the manual and it's definitely too high. The resolution seems terrible and any amount of background light makes the foreground too dark to identify the faces/people within it. You can, however, buy better cameras to fit with this system. All said, this is incredible value compared to the cost of going through an alarm specialist, and I can't tell you how much better I sleep at night knowing this is armed downstairs. Highly recommended.

Good points (SR-320 KIT):Easy to configure using mobile appEasy to install (Hammer Drill and Screw Driver)Sticky pads for door/window sensors work really well (I made sure surfaces were cleaned)Turn alarm on and off via phoneConfigure different pin codes for different users (e.g. if you have a cleaner / builder you can give them their own pin code).Seems to be pretty secure, smart hub and siren are loud. Everything has tamper switches and the smart hub has a backup battery.Phone notifications when alarm is set / disarmed / burglarAlso supports email notificationsNotifications also show who armed or disarmed alarm (e.g. Cleaner example above).SMS alerts for burglar (Although shows a limit of 50 SMS in app,not sure if this limit ever resets, I used 1 testing it)Bad points:Found the range on the PIRs isn't great. (UPDATE: I've since found out that you need to set the Jumper 3 to on on the PIRs for increased sensitivity and now working much better)Keypad is small and feels cheap, but functionalFor the price would like to see a couple more sensors bundled inI did have one issue where the alarm was fully working but I couldn't see each individual device within the App on Android. Deleting and downloading the App again resolved.Future improvements:I would like to see integration with other services like Alexa & IFTTT. "Alexa, set alarm" or If alarm goes off, turn on

Excellent system , easy to install once you know how to do it. Phone app works well, had no issues so far. When installing it doesn't tell you that after you set the alarm the PIR's go into sleep mode for 2 minutes , so we were setting it and then walking back in to set it off to test it but it wouldn't trigger because of this reason we thought we had done something wrong. We added an extra keypad, it would set the alarm but it wouldn't turn it off, turns out the pin code doesn't get passed to additional keypads you have to program it in , instructions below.1 Press the ‘A’ key followed by factory defaultkeypad code ‘0000’.2 The LED will now flash slowly indicating it is in test(programming)mode.3 Press the ‘A’ key followed by the ‘7’ key to set thekeypad into PIN code mode.4 Press the ‘B’ key and enter new four digit keypadcode followed by the Arm key.5 Quit test mode by pressing the disarm key twice. The keypad code and mode setting has beencompleted. So in all it seems an excellent system but the instructions let it down badly and only my research allowed us to put it in , the full system, took about 4 hours to install, we used velcro to fix (command medium picture hanging strips) the PIR's . (these are not pre-drilled for some reason). So if you read this I have hopefully saved you a lot of frustration , so overall I would recommend highly.

Easy to install, app is abit lathargic but buy the extra keyfobs they work better than using the app majority of the timesI found it easier to install this way:1. Drill and attach main alarm outside (without front cover) and leave alarm to ‘off’2. Drill and attached sensor alarm back covers in required positions3. Connect the hub to router and download app4. Turn on the outside alarm unit to ‘on’ (you have (three hours now to connect everything)5. Follow instruction on the app and set up, create an master email account.6. On the app, select learn mode from settings,7. On each sensor click the button. (This puts into learn mode) on your app it should show a device has been connected and rename it.8.Once you have done point 7, on the app select’by pass’ and then connect them to the already connected back covers on the walls as per point 2.9. Once everything is up, through the app - disable by pass on all devices. Activate the alarm and test it.10. To understand part alarm (which took me an age) you will need to select the certain device as ‘by pass’ from the app. For instance I have all my downstairs alarms activated and my upstairs on ‘bypass’. Set all drives to be on burglar mode- if your house is not occupied then disable by pass on upstairs alarm and activate full alarm.Hope this helps!

The first Yale Smart Home alarm I received did not work and was replaced immediately by Amazon after I had been in contact with the Yale technical Depertment. The second system was easy to install and I received quick advice from Yale technical department. After installing the system I found an error in the arming sequence from the keypad. I tried to contact Yale technical for help as this error did not appear in the FAQ section of the Yale website. Yale had changed the telephone support system and I was put in contact with a customer support assistant several times after a long wait “on hold”. The customer support assistant promised to get a technician to contact me in the next few hours. This never happened. Yale obviously do not have the staff to offer adequate support for their products. When the system works correctly it appears to perform to specification it is a pity technical support is now not working to the same standard. I have contacted Yale support approximately 9 times by phone. Each time was on "hold " for up to 25 minutes. I have talked to a technician 3 times. The error has not been solved. It is now a week since I contacted the overflow customer service team. As yet no further contact from technical support.

So after being quoted a mates rate price of £520 for a basic system in our house I took to the Internet and found this.I’ve found the kit well thought out and very advanced for the price, all the sensors have tamper switches and communicate to the hub if the tamper switch has been triggered and of their battery’s are low ( only had it a week so can’t comment on battery life, but expecting 2 years ) aswell as if they detect anything of course.Nice features such as being able to set your alarm from your bed / check to make sure you armed it are a nice piece of mind.I’ve found the app very good with lots of options to customise, the alerts are really good also - it can email, text and bring up a notification on your / several members of your family’s phones / accounts.I’ve also found adding additional sensors is a breeze and all sensors in my 4 bed house have full signal strength with the hub.Summary - this is the only solution you should be looking at if your getting an alarm, it’s smart, subscription free and doesn’t need horrible wires running all over the house.

As a DIY disaster I was a little anxious about setting up and fitting this myself but it was a breeze. I used a combination of the user guide and app. Just have tools to hand..cordless drill a must..and it was done in no time. All the devices work well. Initially I used the set up wizzard but since buying we have added. A few more sensors and smart plugs. Don't worry too much about it all we actually didn't set it for a few days then did a few staged tests and built up confidence that we'd got it right. The phone app is great. Less than a week and we are pretty on top of it all. As an aside watch when fitting cameras..lots of fiddly wires .One came unattached which has rendered it useless. That said I realised too late that you can disconnect the small connectors from the camera when fixing the back plate to the wall which would have saved me a futher£79. My fault entirely! Well pleased with the system though. One last thing.. site the pir camera well ..watch for doors or beams which can rebound light and draw focus from the distance

Just about everything you need to get started on a complete home alarm system, it even includes a smoke alarm. The system connects to your ISP router via RJ45 cable so you need an internet connection to make the system fully workable though certain features can still be used without any internet connection. When purchasing this kit you have to bear in mind that the Yale hub needs to be in a central position to make sure you get the best possible range and coverage. To keep an eye on your house while away on holiday etc and peace of mind you can check everything with the app and have notifications sent if there are movements in the house or other issues.Everything is wireless except the router connection and there are no wires to connect.Future expansion? There is room for expansion and you can add more items to the system which are optional though as far as I know there is no CR02 alarm available which would have been nice. They may well add one later as an option.

On the first unit sent out the hub was faulty and would not connect to the Yale servers. After troubleshooting with Yale support they advised to return and get a replacement. The second unit arrived within a few days of requesting a replacement and worked perfectly first time. Bought this to upgrade my Yale EF Telecommunication alarm. Deleted all the sensors from the old unit and re-learned them on the new hub within 5 mins, it was really quick and easy.As an upgrade to the EF alarm there a few improvements on settings and options. One nice additional feature is any sensor can be made to activate the chime to sound even if not a entry sensor.Used this on all outside door sensors and the PIR in the garage. The user manual is not very well written and doesn't explain setting up the alarm in enough detail.Giving this 4 stars because the first unit was a dud and I wasted hours trying to get it working.

I bought SR 340 model. My idea was to avoid any smart video camera and I thought PIR camera is a good replacement to get some pictures. So I went for SR 340 as it includes one PIR camera. After installation I noticed few annoying things with this camera.1. Picture quality is very poor2. It takes up to 2-5 minutes to get the pictures in the app or by email ( with fiber optic broadband)3. It's a narrow angle camera4. It takes up to a minute some times to respondI had few issues with syncing my external siren with the hub but Yales customer service is really good and sorted this out. Probably I would have bought SR 220 with additional motion and door sensors and spend the rest of money on a goodsmart video camera.

Great Alarm product. Did make it a little more expensive adding on extra sensors, but definitely worth the money overall. It seems high in quality and works flawlessly. I hope I don’t ever need it to work for the purpose intended, but I feel happy in the knowledge it’s advising me of what’s going on in my home as soon as I’m away for it or in bed with the part-arm function. Sensors appear to be very sensitive and flexible, notifications come through on my mobile as a push notification virtually instantly.Set up is a doddle, I would imagine even for a novice (my 75 year old grandfather who is loosely tech savvy set this up in minutes after seeing and being impressed with mine).Excellent

Overall I'm very pleased with this smart alarm . The sensors are completely wireless so setting it up was easy , I have tested the senors many times and they always pick up any movement ,Once movement is detected a countdown of 30 seconds begins and then the alarm goes off , it's really loud .The main advantage that made me go for this alarm was the alerts sent to your phone in the event of a break in , this gives me extra piece of mind when I'm away from home .Their was an initial problem where I was getting alerts for ' supervision error ' sent to my phone but I contacted customer support and a software update was sent to the hub which cleared it .

This house alarm kit is very easy to install and fairly easy to setup and add devices.Note of caution. The hub Needs internet access to set up correctly and adjust all areas. (Alarm/ part alarm) If no access or the below is not active the hub will beep constantly in thirty second intervals. On the bottom of the hub there is a hidden on/off switch. This needs to be switched on to prevent the smart hub battery dying. It is Not switched on as a default! The Siren is loud and the extra devices are easy to find and rename.Search the various packs to make sure you are getting the devices that you need as it can work out a little cheaper.
