I just ride on the park bike paths because I have a knee that keeps me from walking and the no weight on my knee from bicycling doesn't make it swell or hurt . I also have had my spine fused and have severe pain and swelling in my upper body that vibration makes worse . I was having trouble with the washboard dirt roads to get to the paved park paths that are nice and smooth . This fixed it and no pogoing like those expensive shocks for off road riding can cause . This is just perfect . I am 200 pounds and I didn't even have to adjust anything . Travel is just perfect and it soaks up the little two inch washboards perfect for my spine .My arms on the bars are on their own but the vibrations up my backside are cut down to nothing on the dirt roads . One bike I have I must ride in the lowest seat position . The travel here is not so much so I may try to see if I can take a 1 and a half inch lift this would require . This is the best product out there for the normal rider and the price can't be beat for the quality . It is like having a new bike the difference in ride is so much improved . I have not felt it bottom out yet on my daily 5 mile ride if I do I will update . I am very pleased . I also have had no squeeking yet that others complained of . I will note how long it takes if it does occur . I would recommend this to any rider , though for all out competition off road I imagine the $130 dollar rubber band set up may be better if you can control the pogo sticking said to occur with 3 inches of travel . Enjoy your cycling . There are many posts at this price level truly this is the hands down winner selling for half retail now . Buy it first you won't be disappointed and have a bunch of rejects that you just get by with and never know how good it can be .Note : I have returned and purchased more seat posts . None have made noise for me . I was able to build strength and now can ride the large frame with the lift from the seat post just over 2 inches . I have quick change no tools seat mounts on my bikes so I just bought one of these for every saddle I use and can switch between bikes . I was lucky and did not need shims both my ebikes have 27.2 inch posts . I ride a prodeco outlaw and fat sand bike with the electric front motor . Fat tire bikes make the best all around bike path rides IMHO . Work great on all surfaces , even snow and sand if geared properly and with the cushion those large tires provide paired up with this you will have a much improved ride over a rigid frame stock touring or conventional bike . I use WALD baskets on my bikes too . I like the ones with the quick release one bag shopping baskets . Some complain they come loose but never have I had that happen even on dirt trails .

Read a lot of reviews before I ordered for my hardtail Trek. Here's my take on it. This is not a springy seat post that you are bouncing on as you put your weight on, even sitting straight up. I'm 185lbs with the spring tension at the lowest setting. I am probably just at the threshold of compressing the spring with just my static weight, which is perfect in my opinion. If you are heavier you may feel the spring with static weight only. Note this is not a substitute for rear suspension in any way. What this seat post does is absorb the harsh bumps during a ride without me even noticing it is working. I have a couple hundred miles on mine now and I noticed a huge difference in my lower back after the first ride.I love this seat post. It takes the edge off those jarring bumps that go right into the lower back if you have too much weight on the seat at the moment.UPDATE: I have way over 500 miles with this post on the hardtail Trek, still really like it. Since I have it set at the absolute lowest tension, added a little blue locktite to the threads to keep it from creeping from vibration.Added bonus is the front to back angle adjustment that was not part of my OEM seat post. I was able to adjust exactly as I want.As far as squeak, not an issue, mine had grease and I added a little graphite for insurance, not hard to lubricate if needed.

Sometimes you have to write a review just because other people write one. The XLC Suspension Seatpost, 27.2 x 350mm, is one of the best things I ever bought for my bike. So this is written to counter the negatives so the next reviewer who is contemplating a seatpost purchase will have the facts. Riding the mean streets of Chicago where potholes the size of Volkswagens is common and no road surface for a half a block is also common. My 29er had only front suspension and a ridged frame. Ouch! Yes, it was that bad, actual spine compression and tooth jarring was common. So here it is: 1) the people who wrote the bad reviews do not know how to adjust or setup the suspension properly, this is their fault not the item’s; 2) weighing 225lbs. and reading reviews I adjusted the set-screw all the way up, too stiff had to back down to one half it is now perfect. 3) this made a HUGE difference is ride comfort and now can double my ride time; 4) mine did not/does not squeak, but did spray lube before using; 5) this is the only real rear suspension for a bike because of the direct up and down motion directly over the torso; 6) had to buy the shim and it fit perfect. 7) if you need a suspension seatpost this is a buy, buy, buy.

This seatpost is EXCELLENT... and is much better than the original Trek/Bontrager Suspension Seatpost which eventually broke on a Trek Pure. It is easily adjusted and readily dampens bumps, even with riders over 200 lbs. There is ZERO lateral "swivel" (which can occur with some cheaper suspension seatposts). The seatpost I received did NOT squeak when I tested it directly "from the box to the bike". However, based on the feedback from other reviews, I did decide to remove the seatpost and lubricate it (per instructions that you can find posted here in the reviews). The manufacturer must be listening (or they had a good day) because mine was sufficiently lubricated inside. However, since I was already "in there", I wiped off their grease and generously applied some teflon based Super Lube. It was a simple process and I was back on my bike in 10 minutes (should you happen to get one that squeaks). To reiterate, mine did not squeak and was properly lubed... however, for the value, I would not hesitate to buy another one of these seatposts with or without factory lubrication. Great bang for the buck!

I bought a bike without rear suspension because I believed the rear shock would rob me of some of the power I put into the pedals. The ride was very rough compared to my friends bike with rear suspension. When I saw this seatpost, I figured it would solve the problem and it did. It fit perfectly on my mongoose. Just like the other post said, It started squeaking before I even got it out the door. I took it apart thinking there would be no grease inside but it had plenty. I'm not sure where the squeak was coming from so I just sprayed a coating of telflon on the whole inside. That fixed it. I wish the spring wasn't as strong as it is because I am not a heavy person and it don't really move unless I hit a large bump. The softer spring would help on the small roots and stuff. If I am going down hill or over large bumps, I'm usually not sitting down anyway. I don't see any downsides to it. My friends also like it and plan to get their own. It looks well made. Hard to believe its only $25

After switching to a narrow tires bike from the wide tires mounting bike, I started to experience some low back pains while riding my bike for 15 and more miles at a time on a solid seat post and a small performance seat. I bought this suspension seat post and installed a new larger and softer seat. It made all the differences in the world. I have no more back pains and easily can go through a 20-25 miles ride. However, there is a known small issue with this suspension post, it squeaks while you are ride on uneven pavement.I actually took it a part and put some grease on a nylon plunger and on the spring as it was suggested from the Internet research video. Well, it's still squeaks but less frequent.I have learned to live with that as it did not effect the overall performance of the post.I would definitely recommend this suspension post to any bike rider with a narrow tires.Michael.

Seat post arrived promptly which is what I have come to expect with Amazon Prime.Installation was simple as you just swap out the seat post. Just remember the old angle of your seat when you put it on new seat post, otherwise it will not feel the same when you first mount up. I did grease the post as some have recommended - supposedly will stop corrosion as there are two dissimilar metals touching. On gripe is that I needed to oil the suspension mechanism as it was a little noisy at first - not really a squeak, but more like a pop. This pop was evident in the quiet of the house, but on a ride outside, you would never notice it.Lubrication took care of most of the noise so all is well and it is nice to have the cushion when riding. All bikes should come with a suspension post!!

This actually works for me, a 6.2, 215 lb person who rides a mountain bike on the road and maintained trails for the most part and who was tired of being beat up. Yeah, I shoulda bought a comfort bike, or one with both front and rear suspension, but here I am with what I have. Sort of a cheap way of getting rear suspension. Takes off some of the jolting. Can be adjusted for your weight, trial and error but a good feature.I combined this with a bigger foam seat and some hybrid type tires and this has made riding much better for me.It wiggles a bit from side to side, the anti-twist mechanism a bit more loose than desirable. This can be a little annoying,or ignored which isn't to hard to do.I think the price is very reasonable.

My only complaints about this product are that it came with NO instructions and it squeaked. Upon first mounting it, I hated it. I weigh right at 200lbs and it was too soft. I could tighten the top collar to dampen it, but then it just felt rigid with very little travel. It would have been great to know that there is a spring preload adjustment at the bottom of the post that you can adjust with a 6mm allen wrench. So after adjusting the spring and greasing the rails of the plastic inner cylinder, it works great with no squeak at all! It just would have been nice to have good directions on how to do that from the get go. (Many thanks to the reviewer with the youtube video!)

I don't necessarily notice the absorption in the rear of the bike when it happens (I mean that I don't ever feel like I'm moving up and down), but since I got this seatpost it makes me notice the stiffness in the front end. Essentially, the seatpost has smoothed out the bumps for the rear of the bike and now all I notice/feel are the bumps in the front end. Also, I have had no squeaking issues that others have mentioned.Nice product - buy it - with your money.

Great seat post, has a slight bit of "wiggle", a little squeaky, but totally makes riding my Puma Nevis commuter bike more comfortable. I did an initial 11 mile test ride, and it's nice. For the price it's a worthwhile investment. Now, off to get a better seat on as well. The Schwinn one I have isn't cutting it - time to swap it for one of the better distance models I own.

I am 330 pounds, yes i know, so I figured it wouldn't hold up too well. I have used it for two weeks now and it acts just as it did when it was new. I have a rear suspension on my bike but I bought it anyway. I t seems to work well and I don't notice and play or side slop. So far so good and my bike seat tensioner was able to grip the post. No complaints here.

This seatpost is a very good upgrade, it absorbs bumps very well and it's lightweight, I definitively recommend it, and will buy it again, the only downside is that the paint is easily scratched and I don't think that it will last too much time painted, It would be great if it will come with a better painting and with indicators to adjust the height.

I really do love this Seatpost. Delivery was very fast and it was well packaged. It had been years since I owned a road bike and I forgot how stiff they could be compared to a cruiser so I did my rear end a favor and bought a suspension seat post. This one was a perfect choice. Just the right amount of give to offset bumps in the road.

It works. About .1 mm under diameter, which is closer than the one it replaced. Hopefully being closer to nominal, and with the shock absorbtin, it will not slip lik the solid one I replaced. Couple months and so far, so good. If you are a Clyde lik me, be sure to crank the preload down so you don't constantly bottom out.
