Didn't expect too much but have been very pleasantly surprised. Wary of Chinese manufacturers that I don't know much about, but Xiaomi are a very successful company (Redmi is their brand), 5th largest smartphone maker in the world and using standard mobile components. They have a proper web presence and release regular updates to their software, which is reassuring. I do like their implementation of Android 8 and they provide loads of their own very useful software on the phone (anti-virus; clean-up; file movement etc). I was very impressed: I felt like I got a lot for my money.Good amount of memory and storage for a mid-range phone, plus you can add to storage with an SD card.Screen is bright and colourful with good contrast; octa-core (8 cores) processor copes well with multi-tasking and games. Can take 2x SIMS at same time which can be very useful; phone is unlocked (use any network you please).Phone is light enough to use one-handed for extended periods. Hard plastic shell but not too 'slippery' and feels secure in the hand. Only two physical buttons on right of case: power and volume, everything else is on-screen (forward/backwards in Android/browsers etc.). Does make for a flat front and more room for the screen so I like it. Camera 12 MPixels + 5 MPixels is good with some clever features (slow-mo video; clever portrait modes etc.).Speaker is on rear of phone so will sound muffled if laid on a surface. Does have a 3.5mm headphone jack on top. Good sound for video/games/music - but I wouldn't expect amazing quality from any phone speaker, to be honest.I was confused as to where the 2x SIM and 1x SD cards went - nothing in limited instructions with phone. Redmi give you a little, metal device (like an open paperclip) and you stick that into the holes on the left side of the case to make the tiny SIM/SD trays pop out. An opened paperclip does the same job (I've lost the supplied device already!).My only concern is how long the battery will keep a charge after numerous charging cycles; as the phone is sealed there's no replacing with a new battery (to be fair: many phones are now sealed and this is a common worry amongst users).

Spent ages researching before finding this phone, which has just been released. Needed a cheap but reasonable spec smartphone for my teenager, who has small hands and told me it must be no wider than the current phone (5" screen Wileyfox - the middle one in attached photos). This one is 2mm narrower, although has a larger screen - the difference due to the screen being longer and the bezels narrower.Xiaomi is not a well known brand in this country, and this is its first official release in the UK. However, it's a huge company, the 5th largest smartphone maker in the world - mostly selling to China, India and then to the US.The specification is also very good - 3GB of RAM is perfect nowadays, and 32GB storage also just right. This isn't flagship territory, but is more than my Moto G4 plus (2GB RAM, 16GB storage - the one with the white bezels in attached photos) which is still working solidly, so this phone has a decent memory to keep it working well for a few years. The screen's excellent (IPS) and has the current trend for long and narrow (18:9 ratio, without a notch). There's still a headphone socket and the camera is good - not excellent, but good. The fingerprint scanner works fast and reliably - it's on the back.Overall, the perfect smartphone for those on a budget who want a decent specification, decent-enough camera, narrower than most recent smartphones. It's an ideal balance, teenager is very happy with it - and of course, if it gets lost or smashed, it won't break the bank to replace.

ProsThe picture quality is excellent! Amazing photo and picture quality, I believe is 1980*1080?Finger print , wifi connection etc work perfectly.Great sound and audio.Great customer service.ConsI had some issues with roaming ( roaming was on constantly ) but the excellent customer service team was helpful and helped me out !I have to say battery life is just fine, it will last around 5 or 6 hours maybe? The USB charger is not a typical universal xiaomi charger** Please note I have a screen protector on and that's why the screen is a bit ......

It seems to be a very good phone for the price so far - I've been using it for about 2 weeks. The battery is not removable, which could be a worry in the future. The instructions for setting up the fingerprint reader aren't very good, but it works well once you figure it out - you need to move your finger by small increments every time it buzzes, not just take it away like I did!! The screen isn't very bright. The battery life is pretty good. I can get a couple of days of use from it.

i have big hands and i can operate this phone without problems. It is massively more powerful and effective than my ageing LG G4. What i like most about it is the responsiveness, the quality of the pictures and the battery life. The camera takes beautiful shots. Even in contrasting light. As far as I am concerned this is a great product. I never wanted a huge phone. I was always happy to trade off a tiny bit of extra screen for a lot more battery life and less faffing with charging.

Very happy with this phone right now, it has a good battery life (2 days when on battery save mode), I'm happy with the RAM and memory storage. The dual sims work well, and it's easy to choose which one to use upon calling or texting someone.I'm not a mass-photographer but the quality seems good to me, there's also an HD option when taking pictures.Overall very happy for the price I paid.

Brought this phone after some research as I wanted a decent smartphone for under £150 without being tired into a stupidly high contract.Works great, system is fast (way better than my previous samsung), camera is also really good, even in low light. You would easily pay double to get these features from a 'well known' brand. All in all I am really pleased!

An excellent specification phone and being used condition even better than description! It's Redmi 6 box looked new and well packed which came the next day to a local pick up point. It was difficult to navigate as everything was in Chinese but utube to the rescue and all is well now in English! A great phone with so many features to explore!!

Bought to replace the Xiaomi Redmi 2 which has started playing up after 4 years of constant use. Similar layout and functionality with this one but it's newer quicker and bigger screen. Android Oreo is a massive step up too. At less than £100 you can't get this level of quality for that value elsewhere.

It's worth the money. It says what it's described, it's absolutely bargain for the price. The fingerprint reader it's quick, the camera capture very good pictures, all good I love it.

As an entry level smart phone this is a really great product. For the price there really isn't anything to complain about. Fairly vanilla without too much bloat-ware.
