Having set a maximum price of £300 and a maximum screen size of 6" for an android phone I eventually decided to go with the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE.As I always use Nova launcher on my phones, I really can't comment on the stock MIUI launcher. The phone itself is responsive, the screen is excellent and I really like the fact that there's virtually no wasted space around the screen to make the handset unnecessarily large. Audio is acceptable, the fingerprint reader reliable and there seem to be regular software updates. The camera performs well enough and is a significant improvement over that in my old Huawei Nova.The biggest issue I have with this phone is battery life.

I bought this to upgrade from a Huawei Y6 II Compact and whilst the Huawei was a great phone and served me well over the past 2 years, the difference between that and this new Xiaomi is night and day. The screen is massively bigger, vastly brighter and the phone feels significantly (and very noticeably) faster. It's incredible to think what you can get for your money these days in comparison to just a couple of years ago.As far as the UI is concerned I've been a long-time user of Nova Launcher so can't really comment on Xiaomi's own user interface. What I normally do is set up Nova Launcher, then once that's done the OCD in me switches back to the stock interface temporarily just to tidy that up a bit (and 'have a play with it').

This phone is awesome! As soon as I got it I was surprised by the size of the phone - a lot bigger than my last one. The camera is probably the best thing about it. It is really fast and the dual setup lets you take blurred background photos. However the user interface needs a bit of improving - there is a lot of bloatware and pre-installed apps - but it did update to Android 9 as soon as I got it. It has face unlock, which is secure, but it can be fooled by a picture of you so I tend to not use it but I do use the fingerprint scanner, which is on the back of the phone and is so fast I sometimes forget that I turned the screen off- it's that fast!Performance is nice,

Did a bit of research before deciding on this phone but main requirements were fingerprint and facial log in, NFC and lots of RAM so i went for the 128gb version.Phone arrived on time and supplied with 2 power supplies. One had a Euro plug and the additional one was UK spec. The Euro one though was the best spec being QC Version 3 and charges phone very fast where as the Samsung one with UK plug was not so fast. However not a problem using a UK to Euro adaptor.Easy to set up using a restore from a previous Google back up. I then installed the Microsoft Launcher which is easier to manage than the Mi version installed.Phone updated although still on Android 9.

So, screen; excellent, sharp, vibrant colours and bright. Performance; I have the 4GB/64GB version so everything is running smoothly and the octa-core processor is powerful enough for nearly anything you should reasonably want (I don't play games but I understand from Youtube reviews that it's pretty good for that sort of content). Some Xiaomi's use their own MUI interface overlaying Android (some use AndroidOne). The Note 6 uses (at the time of writing) MUI 10. I have to admit I'm not a big fan so I've installed Nova launcher (which is free, with little system overhead) which allows you to configure your launch buttons and home screen to your hearts content.

Great specs packed in a pocket size phone making it superb value for money.I bought this phone to replace my 2 years old Samsung S8 and I am pleasantly surprised to have experienced that .The phone costed me less than thirds of the price of a flagship phone and it is simply brilliant.Certainly you will miss the camera quality of the main camera and some other frills like Samsung AR and samsung html enabled email when compared to a flagship phone but there is no compromise on the quality of sound, reception, sensors, selfie camera, battery life.Absolutely no nonsense compared to oppo, realme and vivo which come with a lot of bloatware.

I previously owned a redmi note 4, the build quality and value for money made me stay loyal to Xiaomi and even upgrade. I have not been disappointed, the camera is great for most shots, however portrait mode seems to require optimal lighting of the photos look a little hazy. My friend has an iPhone 8, and we compared cameras, the Xiaomi subjectively won in all departments except in portrait mode. Before buying I was a bit concerned about the smaller battery, but because of the OLED screen it actually lasts longer than my old phone which had a 4000 man battery.I don't game but the phone seems very quick, the display is beautiful, and it fits well in the hand.I paid slightly less than the price on Amazon,

Purchased locally as needed it asap. Finish on phone is spot on and has a meaty weight to it , not something you expect from Chinese phone.The camera is very good and low light is supringly good for price, the wide angle and selection is fast as well.I am not a heavy user ,but use nova as overlay and notice the redraw every time I wake the phone.If this type of phone comes out in the future with a faster processor I'd buy it , until then this phone is more than enough.Xiaomis miui takes getting use to ,so I know phone would be faster without it. I'm just afraid to flash it yet as its a nice phone :)

Bought this phone for my daughter, had just got fed up forking out for Samsung and iPhones and was looking for an alternative that did the job just as well for less money. My daughter has been very pleased. Build quality is good. It has a fast processor and a good camera,screen resolution is good and she happily watches Netflix etc. And from a parental point of view it won't break the bank if (when) she eventually loses or destroys it. Xiaomi offers great value, a great phone with a great price tag.

This is a good phone, ideal for every day activities.Actual characteristics of this phone are almost at the same level as SAMSUNG and IPHONE but price wise it is at least 4(four) times less than the IPHONE flagship.I would suggest to anyone who is buying this phone to get a good quality memory card as this will definitely effect the speed of recording of information. I have personally paid £25 for SANDISK memory card 64GB but this phone is capable of supporting bigger memory card if required.

I've had this phone for two years now and I love it. As good as the top brands for a third of the price. I owned iPhones, Samsung the lot. I favour Xiaomi as this is the second mi that I had. As for a previous review about screen rotation not working until rebooted. That's only ever happened to me on the sky Go app, so it's the app not the phone. Excellent value for money.

Just got this. Ordered and arrived the following day.Very happy with the phone so far (box had phone in it). Was simple to move all apps and data from my old flagship android phone.Seems really fast and smooth for the price.Only thing that is annoying, not sure if it will be fixed is that the notification icons dissappear from the top bar.

I liked the colour (Denim blue), and the price was good value for a phone of this standard.Xiaomi are a good brand and this is my second one, the battery life is amazing and it operates really well (I live in Ireland). It's beautifully designed and looks like a much more expensive phone.Am very happy with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 pro.

The phone is amazing value for money, cameras are amazing and the overall user interface of the device is detailed and allows you to customise almost anything. The processing power can handle any game or application to the optimal settings. For anyone looking for a phone with this sort of price tag it's an absolute no brainer.

Super! I need a second phone for bits and bobs (only used with WiFi) and my other phone is iPhone 8 Plus. Honestly for a fraction of cost of my iPhone 8 plus, this phone is fantastic. I feel the standard of smart phone nowadays are so good, I think I will just buy this range of phones when I need to upgrade my other phone.
