I love this tire. After a decade of mountain bike racing, I learned that you don't need a heavy tread to shred on all surfaces, and in fact, light and minimalist tires tend to beat everything out there for an all-conditions tire. I live in Western Pennsylvania, and ride a mixture of rough country roads and double-track trails in the forests. My Cannondale Topstone 1 came with 37mm Riddlers on it, which worked pretty well, but I couldn't travel really fast in rough conditions without getting my teeth rattled out of my head. After bumping up in size to a 40mm tire, everything changed. These tires really soften up the rough roads and trails, and do so at a variety of pressures. I ran these at 35 and 55,and to be honest, they handled everything about the same at both pressures... high speed descents, knarly trails, rutted and rocky country roads... you name it. The extra volume really makes a huge difference, and absorbs a lot of road vibration. Of course, I'm 200 pounds, so I can run some extra pressure and still enjoy the dampening effect of a larger tire.As for longevity: I've been running these for some time on all surfaces, and the tread holds up well. With regards to tube vs. tubeless, I run with tubes and haven't had a flat yet, nor any leak issues or beads not holding. All good there. As for best ride conditions for these tires, they seem to handle everything well, from loose, heavy gravel to sand and wet surfaces. I haven't noticed any performance drop-off except perhaps in really wet, slippery conditions with lots of mud, and in spite of that, they still did okay. To me, this is an excellent do-it-all gravel tire that I'll keep putting on my bike again and again. For full disclosure, I have two wheelsets for my bike, and I run a set of 32mm road/touring tire on the other wheels, so I don't have to find a compromise tire.I give this tire 5 stars. Great product that lives up to the advertising claims. I'll buy them again.

My bike came with a pair of sweet Maxxis High Rollers II 2.3 EXO TR. These tires get great reviews in the areas they were made for and I will slap them on when I go AM riding in CO. I ride trails that are created and managed by community pros. We do not ride when wet. So, we only ride dirt in dry conditions in basically flat Minnesota ... we don’t need real meaty tires— well I don’t. I rarely get passed but when I do the guy is flying— I never get a good look at their tires, they might need more beef. Most tires in Minnesota have a lower profile tire and XC use. Another favorite here has been the Small Block Eight. What’s great about the WTB Nano is the centerline tread,it’s nearly continuous so it behaves fantastic on roads, it’s quite and fast I’m 10 miles from great trails by road in three directions so I can ride avg.15 mph to the trails, ride hard and go home on the same tires without comprise. I love these tires. I don’t write enough reviews but I’m inspired now because I want them to continue to make this tire. I want to have this tire on any mountain bike I own so long as I live in Minnesota = forever. I noticed it comes in 27.5 too. I have no affiliation WTB— I wish I did...

I bought these tires last fall for a little gravel riding. They worked flawlessly on a few rides. The only thing I'd change is to make them wider, but 40mm is a feature, so I won't knock them. I do a lot of road riding in the spring, and at first I left them on because I figured they'd endure the crappy spring roads better than G-One's I had in reserve. I might just leave them on all summer. With 108 miles this week alone, I can say these tires ARE fast on pavement. I'm not even running them tubeless, yet. Better yet, when I do encounter the occasional gravel trail, I have no worries I'll wash out. It's all hammer down! Now, I know most are looking at these for hard-core gravel riding, and I haven't done enough of that yet to comment. If you're looking for a fast all-around tire that can handle both pavement and road, then given them a try.P.S. The guys at the shop I bought the bike were marveling over the tires. They have a high respect for the Nano's. FWIW.

I wanted to try a wider tire than my 33c Specialized tracer pros so bought a pair of Nano 40c tires to mount on my Hed ardennes rims to ride on Iowa gravel. My first two rides were on hard packed dirt, soft dirt, 1.5 inch new rock laid 4 inches deep, mud, grass, sand, and regular gravel. In other words, typical Iowa gravel rides. I was hoping for more stability and fewer hairy moments when I it feels like my tires are going to fail me and slide right out from under me. These tires delivered. They did not eliminate all the hairy moments but they reduced the number of them and made all of them less hairy. I was able to ride with more confidence which translates into more fun and speed.I ran them at 40 psi and they were quite comfortable over the rough terrain. I recommend these tires for gravel biking. A little knobby for pavement.

I’ve tried out several different tires searching for the perfect one and the Nano’s are my favorite! I like pushing my gravel bike to it’s limits And have never had any issues. Feels good on the road but on gravel they feel unstoppable. The grip like no other and roll extremely well. I take my bike down a lot of single track trails that are clearly meant for mountain bikes but with these tires I feel like I can conquer them all! I like them so much that I bought the tan wall version and the all black. I’m running them tubeless and have rode around with 20 PSI on singletrack trails and not had a single burp. I’ve rubbed the tires sidewalls on tons and tons of sharp rocks and have not had a single scratch on them.I honestly can’t express how much I like these tires!

I bought these for riding dirt roads on my cyclocross bike. Apparently I'm not the only one doing that nowadays, so there are a lot of new tires on the market that attempt to find the right balance between dirt traction and good ride quality on pavement. These ones are a bit knobbier than a lot of the other options out there, but the solid ridge down the middle of the tread pattern works brilliantly to create a reasonably smooth ride on pavement that doesn't feel like you're being slowed down too much (it's not going to feel like a real road bike, but close enough). At 40mm width, these tires won't fit in every cyclocross frame, but if you can make it fit (I just barely did),this is a really fun tire to ride.

Daughter wanted knobby tread on her bike which she often uses for trail riding. They are for a Giant Cypress model with 28" rims. I learned a LOT about buying and sizing bike tires doing the research on the multiple measurements (that all fit the same rim) and came a cross these which fit well within her birthday budget! They look good and she is very happy. No problem on the road or the dirt. I used her existing inner tube and swapped these out without any trouble. They are about as wide as you can get and knobby as you can get for a 'normal' width tire and fork assy.

Bought the tires for gravel. Had them before and love the tread, speed and weight. Ordered two mounted them and filled with stans.Unfortunately one was defective and leaked air and sealant from the sidewall in several areas. I immediately filled out a return and ordered a replacement. Got new tire two days later. Works perfectly no issues. Would be a 5 star tire if not for the defective issue. Return and replacement was super.

Love this tire! Had it on for two gravel races and couldn't be more pleased. Great traction in a variety of conditions, rolls fast and smooth. I run tubes in all my gravel tires as I switch tires around depending on the conditions at each race. Even so, these tires ride smoothly at 30psi, with a tube, no pinch flat issues mounted up on 24mm rims. These run true to size, mine measured right at 40mm mounted, knob to knob.

So far I love these tires. I have mainly been riding on 33’s on gravel just because it’s my CX bike. These are working great and a bit more comfortable due to being able to run lower pressures. These were very tough to get mounted however, but they did go on and setting them up tubeless was super easy.

Had some 32 'gravel tires' brand new italian somethings.. they were ok but dicey on inclines and rough terrain.. these Nanos are sick, so much better.. better ride, more stable, still can pump them up for road and less gravelly travel. <3 these tires, such a difference between the two.

I was mounting it and put the sealant but it already has puncture or factory issue in the borders / sideway and the sealant was not enough to fix it so it still presenting problems. I would like to have a review of it and some answer from the WTB brand / factory solution.

I got annoyed at all the mountain bike riders racing in my cyclocross category with their fat tires so I thought I’d join them and mounted these bad boys. Light and fast tubeless tires that mounted first try and have yet to burp. Highly recommended.

Great tire even though one of the tires while having them professionally installed leaked Stan’s sealant around the side wall and wouldn’t hold are. Sent back for replacement and next one held so far. Will update after I put some serious miles on.

They easily heel, are rollers and have very good grip. In the asphalt they do not penalize and in the earth they are fast as in the asphalt. You have to play with the pressures to catch that maximum point of the rolling capacity it has.
