Finally, a career mode that really is a career - starting in a junior formula (WRC2 or WRC Junior) you get to impress (or not) prospective teams and manufacturers, with team goals to hit as you power through rallies across the globe. You manage your crew, from mechanics and agents through to personal trainers, and get to decide the development arc of the car - all extremely detailed and adding to the overall experience, rather than just driving and avoiding trees.The graphics have improved over previous versions too - it's not photo-realistic stuff, but as you snap and twist and buck and slide your way through Great Orme or feel your stomach lurch on Ouninpohja, it's as good as it needs to be.The sound (in 5.1)is awesome, engines banging and batting as you power slide, gravel scattering underneath the car, water splashing over the windscreen - epic.Driving controls are also much better - you get a real sense of controlling (and losing control) of the car, as the back end steps out and you power slide your way through mud, or the sickening loss of traction as you flick into a handbrake hairpin on the Col de Turini and end up ignominiously facing the wrong way.Keeping team, crew and car happy is a constant struggle - the crew will flag if not rested, the team will be unhappy if you miss objectives, and the car will handle like a pig if you drive it like a dodgem car. Then you have your budget to consider - do you employ the best Agent or the best Physio? Can you afford to enter a Manufacturer Try-out ... and can you afford not to?There are some niggles. The co-driver voice is dire - he sounds disinterested, monotone, doesn't repeat anything if you miss a corner, and is pitched too low to be clear above all the other action going on. The drone cameras that zip in front were cute the first time you see them, then they just come across as gimmicky and unrealistic. The historic cars are almost laughably uncontrollable - to the point where even driving at school-zone speeds sends them spinning and crashing embarrassingly into rock faces.The game rewards dedication - if you like to just jump in and hit the dirt roads, then maybe this isn't the game for you (Dirt Rally 2 may suit you better), but if you like to immerse yourself in a game, WRC 8 is superb.For this who lie to know these things, bought as a download rather than a hard copy, PS4 standard.

This game is excellent. I have played a lot of rally games, mostly Dirt Rally and Dirt Rally 2.0 (DR2) and I can safely say this stands up proudly beside those two titles. I play using a Logitech G29 and the handling, physics and "feel" (force feedback, vibration etc) are all top notch. I love the handling in this game, especially how the cars have weight which you can quickly lose control of if you aren't concentrating 100% and using acceleration/ braking accordingly. The way the car will start to fish tail and fight with you to keep it on the straight and narrow is excellent.In my opinion this game overtakes DR2 when it comes to the stages and surfaces and the sheer amount of content on offer.One aspect of DR2 I didn't like was the lack of a meaningful single player campaign. Nothing in DR2 made me want to continue improving and playing, whereas in this game you have a rich single player career with various training scenarios, real rallies and other interesting events.This is a must for any rally enthusiast.

I held off buying this for ages, partly due to the negative reviews and how unrealistic the handling was on a different game produced by the manufacturers, but I'm really happy with my purchase.I suspect the negative comments are from people who (like me) have mastered other rally games and expected to win straight away with WRC8. The variation in surfaces and grip levels within stages is a true challenge as are the realistic changes in camber and additional pot holes and puddles. Add in the need to warm tyres and brakes and that some stages are 20+ km long it s a real test of concentration.While the driving aspect is superb, I dropped 1 star from the rating as I find the team management element of the game a bit tiresome,but overall if you like rally games and are up for a challenge you won't be disappointed. I only wish I'd bought it when it first came out.

I’ve ignored the official WRC Rally games for years and years as they always disappointed with awful arcade physics. WRC8 has turned everything around for the million-times-better! It’s at least as good as Dirt 2 in all areas that count. Better overall in my opinion. Yes the sound isn’t as on point as Dirt 2 and the visuals are rough around the edges but in the every other respect this is a Dirt 2 beater! The stages are long and spectacular and most crucial of all the handling has been completely overhauled to be as good as Dirt but definitely better when driving on tarmac. Finally we have a spiritual successor to the great Richard Burns Rally. It may not be the perfect rally sim,but I’m so happy the series as done a 180 to drive at speed down the sim stage!

I didn't buy this from Amazon as the lead time is too long surprisingly. Got it from Argos over the weekend as wanted to play this game quickly having watched many Youtube videos AND now that I have got a decent wheel stand ( GT Omega pro, purchased from Amazon ) to mount my Logitech G29 the game is just terrific. Great graphics on the ps4 pro , handling is very good and , lots of adjustments to make ....had to fiddle with the wheel settings to get it to feel how I wanted but it wasn't too much of a faff. I play Dirt Rally 2.0 on the pc for my VR fix and this on the ps4 for my 2D fix......haven't been a big fan of the previous wrc games but bigben seem to have nailed it with this one.Excellent game in my opinion.

When first seeing the game i thought here we go again a rally game that's going to be tough to play and rallying on narrow roads and narrow dirt tracks but I was quite surprised when I started playing it. Yes the game is tough to play the roads are not as narrow as in WRC 7 but you needs your wits about you just the same as some of the corners can be tricky to negotiate but the graphics and the cars are awesome and game play is thrilling oh and the car rolling is brilliant too when you crash.

I have been waiting for this WRC game since its announcement. The wait was worth it as it turns out the game is everything a rally fan and gamer would want. Graphics are superb, career is challenging and driving itself is as realistic as in other rally games of current generation of consoles. There is a managing finances, morale element implemented in a career mode, which makes it more interesting and challenging. Highly recommended.

The best rally game to date, this is a big improvement over the previous wrc games and it plays flawlessly on the Xbox one x. My only negatives are the menu system is a bit over complicated and the co driver sounds like a news reader from the 1950’s lol. Still in my opinion it’s the best rally game out there.

Great game once you get the controls sorted to suit your driving style, I'm using a wheel so it took a while, the game is difficult, but if you like this type of racing, very enjoyable, good selection of cars and stages, if you like rally driving, and a challenge, highly recommended.

WRC 8 is better than pervious game WRC 7 because its has more in depth career mode, better selection of cars from WRC-2 category, more tracks and dynamic weather is fantastic.downside is can not pick female co-driver or change co-driver nationality in career mode. 4 stars from me

This is one of the best games I've ever played if even that I think it's the best...Wrc 8 has amazing graphics and realistic stuff.It has all the teams like M-sport, Citroen, Hyundai and so on but for me I would recommend this to all ages.If you buy it have fun...All the best.

Ignore the one star comment. The controls are supposed to be difficult and sensitive on a rally game. The car is supposed to move all over the place. Try mariokart if you want a stable experience. Great rally game. More a sim than arcade

There was no problems whatsoever, even in these challenging times, ordered from Argos, all straight forward, picked game up following day, brilliant, exactly how it should work .

These bad reviews are funny, yeh controls are sensitive but be patient and it's a really good game its rallying, cars arent going to handle like they would on a race track guys
