This is the prequel to "The New Order" which was a great game and if you haven't already played it then you are missing out big time! The Old Blood is set inside Castle Wolfenstein and a small nearby town called Paderborn. If you have just been playing the New Order and immediately start playing this then everything from the graphics to the way the game plays is virtually identical although you can now store the heavy duty machine gun in the weapon wheel, small annoyances such as manually picking ammo up rather than walking over them and auto collecting them still exits but it does give the game its uniqueness. I've seen it said on other sites that this should be made as DLC but i completely disagree, having beat the game i can tell you that this can be played as a stand alone game and there is far too much content on offer here to simply offer it as DLC although it must be said that it does have a cheaper than expected price. Again just like the New Order there isn't a co-op or multiplayer side but honestly you don't expect one nor do you miss one. Instead you can tell they have put all their attention into the campaign itself. While i wouldn't say the story is better than The New Order it's pretty good and for anyone that likes shooting Nazis in the face this is a must own game! Oh and did i mention all the weapons look and feel great with realistic muzzle climb and drift, blood and guts are also in abundance so those looking for a bloodbath need look no further! There are also a few section that will test your mind with various puzzles as well, if you are having a lazy Sunday then you might find yourself getting lost or stuck on a particular area but don't worry you'll figure it out.Verdict: Definitely play The New Order first before you play this and make a judgement about whether or not you want to continue the Wolfenstein journey. It's a great first person shooter with some awesome sections, old school fans such as myself will probably rate the game higher than someone new to the series but for £13 you honestly can't complain at the quality nor the content on offer given it will take you several hours to complete. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Once I got past the dull teathered UberSoldats in the prison, things got better but the game still lacks the charm, wit & imagination of the original Return To Castle Wolfie. I have played the other games as well.Pretty good graphics (not in the league of Crysis 3 but few are), some good action scenes but oh dear, I've just encountered the boring zombies (I was saying a moment earlier how much I was enjoying the game) but I hope they are (like the teathered UberSoldats) only a stage in the game. The cable car was an improved version of the original one but only mainly because of better graphics.I feel that the designers of the Wolfie games post RTCW rely too much on gimmicks, anyone remember how it felt in RTCW when you encountered the UberSoldats for the first time and how 'scary' the fire breathing zombies and the axe hefting, shield equipped guys were? Ok they weren't difficult to defeat but they had character. Why when The Old Blood is set in 1946 have the makers deprived us of the German assault rifle, the scope equipped Mauser, the MP40 Schmeisser? I'm fine with more advanced weaponry too but the real weapons had character but apart from the Luger pistol & Kessler's shottie, none of the weapons are 'real' weapons.

Fans of the series should enjoy this, while it is not overly long this is reflected in the lower than usual price. But there are quite a few hours of FPS Wolfenstein fun in this. At first I thought it was a cheap rip-off as I spent ages crawling through shafts and mainly using a crowbar but as you move on it gets more varied and more weapons become available. BJ is trying to rescue someone from the cells and then needs to get out of the castle and into the village where he finds something horrific is lurking....Plenty to enjoy in a proper FPS with a good balance of difficulty and playability. You need to think in 360 terms, there is often a hatch to use your crowbar on or a wall to climb, but the game doesn't make you work too hard figuring things out - it just lets you adapt your preference of style, sneak or blast away.Great fun.

Great game, a single play though for me was around 6 1/2 hours which for the price on xbox one games at the moment is a bargain. Visually very similar to the new order and game play was almost exactly the same with the exception of a few weapons and the ability to hold the heavy machine gun on the weapon wheel after unlocking it as a perk.Multiple references to the original return to castle wolfenstein in the form of names and there are 9 hidden dream sequences; one for each level if you can find them.Unfortunately there isn't a multiplayer option, but between the campaign, challenges, collectibles and the ability to play the campaign on uber mode with an add on where you can only die once in the entire campaign you won't find yourself short of things to do.If you're like me though the campaign alone will be enough.

after playing wolfenstein the new order I can say I was presently surprised with the old blood. After paying £15 I wasn't expecting too much from this stand alone prequel but it definitely delivered. The story took me around 5-6 hours on medium difficulty which is the length of a lot of full priced games these days. Plus there is a nightmare section you can find in each level which takes you back to the style of wolfenstein 3D.After beating the champaign you can take part in challenge missions where the goal is to complete regular sections of each level but while trying to earn as many points as possible. This adds at least another 2-3 hours depending how good you are.Overall this game is fantastic and definitely worth the asking price!Pick up immediately if you liked wolfenstein the new order :)

Brilliant single person shoot'em up! As a prequel it works exceptionally well. Its uncomplicated, retains all the usual traits and characteristics of the other Wolfenstein games ,so there are no "button" changes and the inevitably annoying relearning processPlaying this was like pulling on an old comfortably fitting jacket, you just slip right into it and get on with the game. Second hand this cost me £7.00 overall and I got a good fourteen hours play from it (I like to explore and get as many of the collectables bonuses, and upgrades as possible, rather than go back and play the levels them again) so as value for money its a huge winner!!The graphics and game play are strong and slick, the story is a great short standalone, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Great piece of Wolfenstein!Bought it on Digital cos I couldn't wait for the physical release! Looks fantastic and smooth framerate leading to satisfying old achool shooting. Is actually quite tough ( I found it so anyway) so I would reccomend a second playthrough once you have finished it for a more fluid experience - first playthrough you can be left wondering where your next objective is . I perhaps did not use my map often enough so maybe my fault!if you haven't played New Order this is a great intro and would reccomend the full game ( you can normally pick it up about 20 quid)Some of my achievements seem to have glitched and not registered but this just encourages a new playthrough in thefuture.

Very gory. A bit repetitive - lots of shooting but without any real puzzles. I don't know why you always have to Boss fights - really frustrating when you can't save and have to rely on check points which at times are too far apart. To do some of these I had to lower the game level. However it's still entertaining. Plenty of health packs in various scenes but trying to get enough to give a permanent health boost is difficult.Note:- For some reason it doesn't like having the FOV (Field Of View) turned up particularly if you are using QHD resolution -results in tearing on my rig.

I haven't played a FPS for a long time but I saw this on a TV programme (Video Game Nation) last week so I bought it as it was cheap. It has a slow build up and it took me a while to realise that it is very difficult to complete some sections with simple brute force i.e. charge in and shoot everything that comes at you. There were some places where I just couldn't shoot everything quickly enough and had to resort to stealthy play. It kept me interested and was very good to look at. It is a superb mini game.Highly recommended - am going to buy the new order version now.

I’ve only just started playing this, but from what I’ve seen so far it’s a good game. This is a first person shooter set in an alternate timeline where it’s 1946 and the Nazis are winning Second World War. You’re mission is to infiltrate castle Wolfenstein, collect intelligence on a secret weapon, kill a load of Nazis including a high ranking one and then escape. So you get to beat up and shoot Nazis in an alternative universe what’s not to like about that.

Very enjoyable. If you liked "The New Order", then you`ll love this. A sort of prequel to that game. Only eight missions long. There is a ninth mission, but I have not unlocked it yet. Despite the game being over 37gb, it`s not that long. I assume that Next Gen. demands are the reason? The gameplay and mechanics are spot on. Be warned........the final boss fight is really tough!!! Took me several attempts to complete it. Highly recommended.

The story (no spoilers) pulled me in and I wanted to see it through. Not completely sure about the final section but actually, why not, it's entertaining - and that's why I play games.Tight controls, good graphics and all tied in to a shooter that works well. Difficulty is ok and quite scalable too however if a section seems unwinnable there'll be another way to overcome it.Five star fun.

This is a great game I got it for less than twelve pound and I am totally engrossed by it. The graphics are superb especially the detailing of the modelling. The game play is totally absorbing and never gets boring. If you love FPS this game is a must. The Wolfenstein series never fails to delight me. The developers have put a lot of effort into making a really fun game.

Very good Wolfenstein themed video game. All good action although in the first chapter you defeat the robotic warriors, grab the incredibly powerful gun, only to lose the gone as you force open the door into the next chamber. But once overcome, you get into the real action which is quite tough even in the "Don't hurt me" mode.
