I visited Porto recently and did the tours of a few of the port houses over in Vila Nova de Gaia. There are quite a few of them as you can imagine, some better than others. Of course, the wine itself is no longer transported down the Rio Douro in wooden rafts but there is still plenty of heritage and time honoured traditions of manufacturing this particular fortified wine which was devised by the British during the Napoleonic wars to ensure that the nobility still had wine on their table. You learn a lot on these tours and you also get a feel for which type you prefer whether than be ruby, tawny, vintage or late bottled. My favourite was the tawny and my favourite port house was Grahams.Tawny has the most flavour and it is a lighter brown colour than the heavier types. Grahams is the hardest port house to visit as it is up a steep hill with most of the others being on the riverside. It is worth the climb though as the views are spectacular, as are the wines. You really get a sense that Grahams is the classiest place too, it is still family owned and has resisted the temptation to "join forces" (i.e. sell out) to the global drinks conglomerates and this has ensured that their quality has remained high. They own their own vineyards too, unlike some of the inferior brands, and I was really impressed with the set up there. So the combination of tawny and Grahams for me is an absolute winner. This is 10 year old and not as subtle as the 20 but, to be honest, at this price which is little more than you would pay for a bottle of plonk in a restaurant, it is an absolute bargain. Comes in a nice tube too.

I bought this along with the Taylors 10 whilst they were both on offer and delivery was speedy, with the bottle being well protected for its travel to the Isle of Bute.On pouring, the colour is good and the aroma is certainly fruity. This is confirmed on nosing it in the glass. The taste for me was slightly rough with a noticeable burn on swallowing. The taste was okay but definitely not as refined as the Taylors 10.Personally I would Recommended the Taylors 10.I do not receive any payment or free goods for writing these reviews. I am just happy to share my views on my purchases with fellow like minded Amazonians in the hope that you may find it helpful.

God, betrayal. I'm a huge whisky drinker but I do indeed have a sweet tooth, and combining those two in the heavenly form of port should be damn near illegal, I can thoroughly say I drink a lot more port at home now and after noting the warmth of other cheaper bottles like Taylors, Grahams Tawny port is just another experience entirely, incredibly tasty, almondy, sweet and just enough complexity and it was smooth.I couldn't tell you the tasting or nosings because me and wuh lass demolished this bottle in less than 45 minutes easily. Had it ordered for £13.50 and it was worth every penny.

I now live part of the year in Porto. Since coming to Porto I have learned so much about Port wines, how to drink them and more importantly how to keep them. Whilst this is not the best Port we have drunk, it offers great value for money. We bought two bottles on special offer. I am a fan of ruby/red port and tawny is not a Port I really enjoy, but this one is subtle, slightly sweet and well rounded. Once open, Grahams recommends it kept cool, to preserve the integrity of the wine, as it does deteriorate over time. Overall, its a nice Port which I am happy to recommend.

Perfect gift for my fathers birthday! I bought this along with some port sippers, and they were a massive hit for his big day. Apparently the port is flavourful and makes a beautiful night cap. I purchased this on Prime and received it next day. Excellently packaged and the courier had handled it with great care. Our courier did ask for ID to prove age, but don’t be too disappointed if yours doesn’t ask for any, they have to think 25! They probably just think you’re 26, and that’s okay! Very happy with this purchase, excellent value for money!

An excellent 10 year old tawny port for any occasion. It compares much better to other amber 20 year ports (at a 1/3 of the price!) and even some of the extra special Ruby ports. The palette of this drink is very smooth, easy on the taste buds. The surprisingly unusual fruity flavours with a sufficient body. I find for me it's best served slightly chilled roughly between 17°C and 19°C . I highly recommend serving with meats like Steak (Venison or Elk) or with either some chocolate or madeira cake, it's a delightful pairing.

Purchased over Christmas period for £13.50 bargain price. That said it was worth every penny and more.We normally grab a bottle of dows or Cockburns when putting up the tree and have never had a tawny port before.I am converted this is amazing sweet but not overly very easy drinking and not heavy a good nightcap drink that wont make you feel bloated when you hit the. sack.I think i need a holiday to porto. If you have never had a tawny port grab a bottle one of the best drinks ive had and thoaght i had tried most.

Port can often he very rich, indulgent and heavy. Now whether this is a bad thing or a good thing but this 10 year old isn't. It is actually a great casual evening drink that is as easy on the palette as a good red.Don't get me wrong it is far from the best ports but at £13, (last bottle was actually under £8 with Amazons discounts) it is a remarkable buy, especially for an everyday Joe who would enjoy a 40yo bottle but may not appreciate it fully (particularly their price tags).

I'll be honest, I almost never write reviews since I find most products forgettable. But I'll tell you What, this has to be the first time I, an avid whiskey drinker, have enjoyed a delightful and delectable guzzle of some fantastically made and love filled glass of wine, like seriously, whoever makes this stuff, I owe them, it's practically robbery, what a steal, I couldn't have found something this good at a lower price, I'm just saying, give it a whiz my man.

Tawny port is not my favourite tipple - I much prefer Ruby and, in particular an LBV.I find tawny port to be a tad too sweet and lacking in depth. Of course, it's horses for courses and many (including my family) will disagree with me. To be fair, this is one of the better tawny ports and is very quaffable! It also comes in an elegant presentation tube and therefore makes an excellent gift..

Love this Port, especially at this price. I've had a bottle before myself and this time it's ideal for a gift at Christmas. It comes well packaged by Amazon, just make sure whoever orders is home to receive it as you'll get asked your age by the driver. The bottle the Port comes in is also rather nice, makes for a great Christmas gift when it drops down to a sensible price.

Lovely taste, nice and light without being too sweet. I'm not a huge drinker, so I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a drink with friends, but not sure what to have. Although it started going down very fast once my friends got a whiff lol. Will definitely order again.Oh yeah, it was beautifully presented, too good for me tbh! Fantastic gift idea!

An excellent 10 year old tawny port. I find this a good point between the overly amber 20 year ports (at a 1/3 of the price!) and some of the Ruby ports. The palette is very smooth, the usual fruity flavours and a sufficient body. I find mine best served slightly chilled (17-18deg C), with either some chocolate or madeira cake, it's a delightful drop.

My husband Paul loves Port and I buy him a bottle every now and then as a treat. This time it was part of my wedding anniversary present to him. Grahams is his favourite as it is mine and I introduced it to him 25 years ago. It is so smooth but has a wonderful unique flavour. If he's very lucky I will buy him another bottle for his birthday.

Lovely, lovely, lovely.Dark, rich and creamy, this is a really unctuous port. It's a gorgeous inviting colour. Just asking to be drunk.A great way to introduce yourself to the joys of a warming rich port. For the money (especially when on special offer) it's a real steal.Highly recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.
