Certified 100% natural the Weleda birch body scrub description reads "gentle and eco friendly, this plant-based skin scrub contains pearls made of carnauba and beeswax. The essential oils of grapefruit and cypress provide a fresh, invigorating fragrance and the apricot kernel oil helps keep skin soft."I'm a big fan of exfoliating products but have always associated the body products with quite intensive salt, sugar or apricot kernel scrubs (the ground shells, not the apricot kernel oil as present in this product) so I was surprised when this product came out very creamy with only small pearls of wax present. I assumed it would be completely ineffective at smoothing my skin.I was wrong...USING THE SCRUBIt's easy to dispense, you just squeeze out a small amount and get massaging. Due to the fact that it doesn't solely rely on the rough "scrubbing" action that many other body scrubs do, you can get away with just lightly massaging this all over your body. The scent is absolutely incredible! I love it. It's really fresh and zesty. You can certainly smell the grapefruit and it's a perfect refreshing lift to wake you up in the morning. It rinses off easily leaving you feeling clean and fresh. It isn't greasy in any way and doesn't leave the annoying slime or gritty residue that requires you to clean your bathroom immediately to avoid slipping over (unlike many other scrubs I've used).THE EFFECTVelvety smooth skin with minimal effort. After I use this I find that I can skip my usual body moisturiser for that day. The smoothing effect lasts for a while so I think once or twice a week would be fine to use this.WOULD I BUY IT?Yes! At the rate I am using it the tube will last me a few months so admittedly it's not the cheapest, but I generally buy mid-range to high end cosmetics and think that it does a great job. It's a huge benefit to me that it's natural because not only is it better for the environment (no evil plastic micro beads polluting the ocean!) it doesn't cause me reactions such as dry skin, itching and irritation that I get when I use a whole range of more commercial products.I've rarely encountered a "natural" product that gives a better result than the commercial alternative, normally it's a compromise. This product most certainly isn't!For your information, it's also stated that this product is "Free of synthetic fragrances, colours, preservatives and raw materials derived from mineral oils"Highly recommended!

I agree with other reviewers that this has more of the consistency of a body polish than a scrub but that's fine by me.I am a fan of Weleda products as they have a great track record on quality and sustainability. The idea of this scrub is to use use it weekly in the shower. The wax beads in it helps to exfoliate.Ingredient listINCI: Water (Aqua), Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Coco- Glucoside, Alcohol, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glycerin, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Sodium Cocyl Glutamate, Betula Alba Leaf Extract, Ruscus Aculeatus Root Extract,Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid, Limonene*, Linalool*, Citral*. *from natural essential oils. The Grapefruit and Cypress oils along with the Birch give a lovely fresh botanical smell with a hint of citrus - very refreshing for a morning shower but in a creamy and mildly moisturising format. Despite the addition of apricot kernel oil, the scrub doesn't leave an oily sheen on your skin but at the same time is non-drying. Unlike many shower products this neither irritates my slight eczema nor does it leave my skin dry, tight and itchy so no need to slap on body lotion post-shower.

This birch body scrub (or to give it its genuine Swedish name, “Björk Body Scrub”) as another impressively strong-smelling quality product from Weleda- I’ve been impressed by everything I’ve tried from them lately and this is no exception. It’s a super-rich body creme, like a sort of concentrated shower gel, so 150ml should keep you going for a while. It’s got a moisturising effect on a par with products from Nivea or Dove.Though to me ‘birch’ might imply a woody, maybe earthy scent (emphasised by the green packaging), I was surprised to find it had strong citrusy notes and a strong smell of sweet honey- and it’s a lovely aroma, powerful but with a natural feel to it. It lasts for a long time after you’ve used it,both lingering on your skin and in the bathroom, and it’s lovely. The wax pearls give it a faintly exfoliating texture, which is very very mild but pleasant. The effects are more noticeable using a sponge than using your hands. Once you’re done, the pearls wash away very easily in the shower so you don’t end up feeling like you’re still covered in bits.A lovely smell, a luxury treat to use, and it leaves you feeling plush and smelling nice afterwards.

The abrasive material in this all-natural body scrub is made from carnauba and beeswax so it won't pollute the environment with nasty plastic microbeads. Used in the shower, the feel on the skin is gentler than harsh sugar or salt scrubs, yet it does the job admirably, exfoliating the skin so it feels smooth and silky. It also contains a lovely cocktail of essential oils and like the range of Weleda body washes, It also does a brilliant job moisturising the skin so you don't need to use a body lotion after your shower. What really makes this product an absolute star, though, is the scent. It's like walking into a forest after rain - fresh and green and lovely, part pine sap, part bruised herbs and grass. It's a real mood-lifter first thing in the morning and the scent hung on in my bathroom for ages, better than any chemical air freshener could ever be. It's all I can do to resist using this lovely product every day, but the directions advise using once a week - you don;t want to over-exfoliate and irritate your skin, after all. I'll definitely be buying again and again - no other scrub I've tried can compare.

This is a very good body scrub. My mother introduced us to Weleda as young girls - it was difficult at that time to obtain 'natural' cosmetics and I still have great affection for the name. This scrub is creamy and gentle, with only a mild exfoliating action and a light citrus smell. This product includes extracts of grapefruit and cyprus oils as well as Birch tree. Aromatherapists take the view that all three of these improve skin tone, brightening and tightening. There is some scientific evidence that the birch bark is particularly useful in improving damaged or spotty skin.Generally speaking I use an exfoliant once a week and I prefer something a tiny bit smellier and more gritty.Over the holiday period I've been using it every other day and I have to say the improvement in my skin has been remarkable.I really like this product because it's not tested on animals and is free of synthetic perfumes and colourants.

I really loved this gentle body scrub. Like all Weleda products, it is natural, free from harmful chemicals and cruelty free. Because it does not contain the, soon to be banned, micro beads, it is also kind to the environment.I used it in the shower and found the equivalent of about a teaspoon was adequate to exfoliate my whole body. I just used my hands to massage the cream scrub in to my skin. I am not a fan of sponges and puffs from a hygiene point of view. The cream went on easily and the birch exfoliate really left my skin smooth and rinsed away easily. I wasn't left with annoying bits all over me which many body scrubs seem to. You know....those gritty bits that you are still finding hours later! The fragrance is lovely.Slightly citrussy with a sort of pineapple/honey scent which lasted well. My skin felt wonderful and ready for oil and body butter!Highly recommended.

This is hygiene sealed. It's an oil-based, so it's not too drying. It has coconut, sesame seed and castor oil. It also contains glycerine. An effective humectant. The exfoliating agent described as 'natural wax pearls' are tiny granules of carnauba and beeswax. Some synthetic exfoliants at non eco-friendly.There is also rosemary leaf extract. So the claim of this being 100% certified natural pleased to be fairly well founded. I'm not necessarily claiming that natural is best but so much big pharma seem to rely on the same old cheap chemicals newly spun. Weleda (Swiss) may be big pharma, but the ingredients look a cut above the cheap chemical of some other multnationals. It has a pleasant citrus scent and does the job without drying out the skin. One of the best proprietory exfoliants I've tried. Of course you can just use castor sugar in hand cream.

I like Weleda products as they never irritate my sensitive skin. This body scrub - more polish than scrub, to be honest - is no exception. It's chock full of plant extracts and essential oils, and the little carnuba and beeswax "pearls" feel as gentle as microbeads but without the awful environmental impact. Unlike many shower products this neither irritates my slight eczema nor does it leave my skin dry, tight and itchy so no need to slap on body lotion post-shower.Lovely gentle body scrub - I will be ordering more.

The only reason for not giving this product 5 stars is that it is called a "Body Scrub" and I really would not describe it as a scrub. It is a very nice creamy lotion - slightly runnier than some similar scrubs - and has a very light scent which doesn't linger. It feels very pleasant on the skin and is not in the least bit gritty as most scrubs are and is therefore not as good at exfoliating as it might be. The little 'pearl' beads are made of carnubia and beeswax and are very gentle, and overall it leaves the skin very pleasantly moisturised. As a gentle body scrub, and a very eco-friendly one at that, it cannot be bettered and I would definitely buy it again although not as a serious exfoliator.Perhaps if you applied it with a pair of exfoliating mitts it would achieve perfection!

Astringent, with, to me, a citrus scent of Lemon Verbena; although this is not mentioned - the lists says grapefruit and cypress - this efficient body scrub does a good job. Without those nasty plastic grains that are causing trouble in the oceans, there is nothing to worry about here as the exfoliation pearls are wax, all natural and safe.My family members with eczema say Weleda products, made in Switzerland, are best for them, as their skin benefits from the 100% natural, plant based ingredients. No reactions reported.I am enjoying using this as the rubbing and removing action leaves my skin noticeably softer and silkier - a satisfying result.

This is a really lovely product. It has a gorgeous mild citrus smell, which I really like, but the perfume is subtle and not at all overpowering, allowing you to use your other perfumed products in conjunction with this scrub. It is definitely a scrub, as opposed to a true exfoliant, but the bonus of this is that you can use it as part of your regular cleansing routine without it causing any problems with sensitive skin. It left my skin feeling very smooth and silky and it has been blemish free since starting to use it. It is slightly more expensive than my usual product, but has left a very good impression and I shall continue to use it regularly.

I am a big fan of Weleda products because they are pure, no nasty chemicals hidden away plus I have been using them for decades.I haven't used a body scrub before, I have been using a scrub mitt only. This Birch body scrub has no plastic microbeads and is a very gentle kind of scrub. This might not suit everyone but if like me you are a bit sensitive then the gentleness is a good thing.Using this product with the scrub mitt has made my skin softer. It has also made it feel more toned. I am over sixty and my skin needs that stimulation even more.I would recommend this product as suitable for more sensitive skins.

I wondered what birch smelled like while I was waiting for this product to arrive, and while I can't describe it fully, it is a really fresh, tree-y smell which I surprisingly really like. The scrub has a fairly liquidy cream with little scrubby pieces of bark to remove dead skin. While I love this brand and its Eco credentials, I found this scrub a little too thin and runny, and with not enough scrubby bits for my liking, which is fine for an everyday product, but I like to have a really good "scrub me red raw" type of scrub once a week or so, and this just didn't leave me feeling adequately exfoliated.

I was sceptical about whether this would work - I read about it in a Sunday newspaper as a help for pilaris keratosis (a skin condition where you have bumpy and dry skin, like permanent goose bumps). I've had this condition all my life and have never found a solution. However, I've been pleasantly surprised. It's definitely made a difference to my skin texture - my arms are much smoother and softer. I noticed that it was working after 1 or 2 uses and am pleased with the difference. It also smells quite nice - the only downside is the fact it is so expensive.

It has a lovely creamy feel to it and makes your skin wonderfully soft for days . It also seems to be firming my skin ! I am going to get the birch oil as I hear it works wonders with this product !
