I'd heard of Warrior Kings before, it was supposed to be a leap forward in the industry of RTS gaming. So when i same WK Battles, i had to snatch it up, although almost leaving it for The Sims or Age Of Mythology...i'm glad i didn't. From the first moment you put the CD in the drive and see the "Chess style" intro (remember AOE 2?) I knew this would be a lot like AOE, it is in many respects, but WK:B has pushed it so much further. The first time i played on Skirmish mode i thought i was on Multiplayer. Seeing a small force test your defenses, or lead you away while a bigger force slaughters your unaware peasants really makes you wonder if theres someone sitting inside you PC playing against you!Control of the game is easy, simple clicks will select huge armies, allowing that all important charge into the enemy base. This is where games like AO fell, controlling armies required dragging boxes around small squads. With three clicks of the mouse, i'd selected all of my archers, formed them into a suitable formation, and had begun raining arrows onto the base. With all this free time, i sent a troop of Spearmen in too! Battles shake you, you really get a great feeling as two armies slowly stand either side, then plummet into the centre, its breathtaking. The Paths are another great addition and really make the game interesting and adds a whole lot of replay value. You get to make decisions on weather to go for:Imperials:Knights of the Church, what you see in fairy tales, the "good" knight.Pagan:Complete Opposite, nature worshipping peasant burning evil demons...with REALLY cool lookin' monsters that you can summon.Reneissance:Scientest capable of creating HUGE seige weapons, and building up great recource piles.Sound in the game is great, a mellow medievil style BGM plays...until a fight starts then its straight in with the war drums...all adding to the atmosphere. Speech is good too, Peasants grumbling about there work, soldiers eagerly trying to please you as you move them across the map. Even there death cries are satisfying!GRaphics are amazing, a fully 3D world to rotate your camera around zoom in and out, look around explore. The terrain is also vrey varied huge mountains and hills, that actually affect the battle, Archers can fire further, and with more accuracy from higher up, and melee soliders can fight so much better going downhill. The main feature i found was amazing was the AI of not only enemies but your troops too, there so smart, stopping if they see movment from scouts in the trees, hiding, running, fleeing if attacked, not just merrily continuing on there way with arrows in there back...all adds to a realistic and fun gaming experiance. The multiplayer is never slow, and always fun with an easy, no fuss straight in game.

This game is a traditional RTS, so anyone that plays RTS games will love it. For those of you that have never played an RTS , then this is a great introduction, as it is one of the best around. What make Warrior Kings Battles so good, basically it has excellent game play. You are not presented with fixed race options, it has a path that responds to how you play, going down one of three routs, the Church, Pagans or technology. But what really separates this game from all the others is the AI.In most games you play you tend to play the a level first to see what it is like and how the computer opponent responds. Then you start again and do it right. Now the thing that took me by surprise is that the AI does not always react in the same way.So, if one time you play you move your troops in a direction where you know the computer opponent is weak, then you try it again and all of a sudden it is not the push over you expect, nice.Another interesting point is that the computer opponents can join forces with you, and each other, making it feel like you are playing a game against human opponents. There is a down side to this game and that is the PC you require to run it on. I would recommend a 1GHz PC with a GForce 3 or 4.Buy this game and it will keep you playing for months with its varied skirmish games.

The campaign is great. You start of with very little soldiers but as you take over more and more land you get more and more soldiers. Yous also get to choose what sort of armies you want(pagen, renaceince, imperial). The fight are great and very stategic, e.g if you send ayour army to attack another armie, beware this could be decoy and while your sent your army over their your base is being attaked by a real armie. If you have any problems with getting the game running try running it as adminestrater.Their are cheats for this game at websites like Gamespot. If you enjoy this game try Age of Empires 2 and 3

Yes, it's a skirmish add-on that should have been part of the orginal game. But this game, like it's predecesor is brilliant. It's the closest you can get to being Henry V, or Aragorn, or Ghengis khan! The battles and sieges are exciting and many victories are a close shave. The action takes place in a beautiful 3D landscape which offers a more seamless experience than medieval total war. WK Battles offers new features such as Tolkiensque tree-armies and battering-ram elephants. If you like wargaming, this is a lot of fun.

This is the Business. While its predecessor showed promise, "The Battles" fulfils and far more. Stunning graphics contribute to make this just about the best game I've ever played, even though I've only just bought it and am a long way from exploring its full potential. Magnificent!
