Avoid this one. Just avoid it. Like a combination of squishy brown stuff after people have walked their dogs, a maniacal beggar smelling of booze, and a shiny eyed religious nutter out to save you. It's another example of Games Workshop's excellent and aggressive business plan producing something that could only appeal to a ten year old, but which would condition that ten year old to expect nothing better. It looks ok, sure, there aren't issues with bugs, it's competently developed, but none of that makes up for terrible gameplay. The checkpoint system is poorly implemented, leaving you fighting through dull levels time and time again to reach the next 'point, the AI is awful- enemies run at you,then turn and run back for no reason, sometimes even running past and ignoring you- and the weapons are the worst. Maybe somebody who has spent a fortune on Games Workshop miniatures will say 'Ah, yes, but you need to roll six sixes to kill an Imperial Death Psycho Commando Captain', but it just emphasizes how juvenile this game is. Want a game where you have to empty two magazines point blank into a moronic enemy while they do the same to you, before they keel over? Want levels that are so tedious that you'll uninstall the game within three days? Want to waste your time and money making GW even richer? Or would you rather buy a game, any game, older and less polished, produced by a development company that loved their baby, rather than the franchise's profit potential?This one's a stinker.

It had me addicted the first night I played it ... nice enough graphics, doesn't appear to be too buggy having downloaded the patch, but ... the weapons do seem to be designed to fire in random directions. Most annoying is no save feature, and constantly being kicked back to play the same bit again and again - each time you start a section. You then have to listen to the story monologue (no key to avoid it that I can find) - and these can take minutes, so you're just sitting there waiting for the monologue to stop droning on, again and again. Not such a big deal early in the game, but as it gets harder, and I'm dieing more frequently, I find I'm spending most of my time playing the same bits again and again and again and ....killed everything, get to the tough bit - die, go back, kill the same everything, get to the tough bit, die repeat til frustrated and go and write a miffed review on amazon ...The story is interesting enough, but so far incredibly linear ... I thought it was going to be really cool when I saw the list of actors involved, but so far, that really hasn't saved this game from what have been some pretty poor design 'decisions'.The basic engine is fine - probably a good laugh to run around it shooting your mates, and the single player game might be fine, if you only had to do each bit once ....there are better shoot em ups, and you get the feeling the people who wrote this never played it in anger.

This is a lot like the 2006 England World Cup squad - all the right components, but it really doesn't work in practise.A Warhammer 40K FPS could have been brilliant, and the decision to cast the player as an alien Tau rather than a boring Space Marine seems inspired.But it never comes off.The graphics are OK enough and most of the sound effects do work well. But why do none of the characters have speech? That just feels bargain-bucket.Your Tau weapons are completely useless. You never feel like they make any impact on any enemy. Evetually, you will fight (and by sheer luck, probably) kill a space marine and get his bolt-gun.That is the only decent weapon in this.Saving the game is not an option - you will dredge over old ground again and again.In short - don't buy this. Get Dawn Of War and play that instead. WH40K as it should be.

Ok i just shot a soldier 15 times with what looks like quite a powerful laser gun and he seems to be fine: what gives? Wait a minute this soldier has just taken another 15 rounds to the gullet and seems in tip top shape! So much so he's slaughtering me as we speak! Sounds great huh! Well in case you're not accquainted with sarcasm I will end your pain by saying that this game isn't very good. Aside from invincible Space Marines dull levels, inaccurate weapons and unknown objectives make this game quite a challenge to play. It's not terrible: the graphics are okay and there's nothing wrong with the story line but I've just ran out of bullets for my gun and this damned Space marine is still aliveand kicking (litterally).

Not very good from the start (and i can't be bothered to finish it). Some nice in game ideas, but not enough tokeep me interested.Bad graphics considering how new it is. Bad levels, not challenging. The halo weapons system is wasted, only 2 weapons at a time, fine, but when all the guns are weak and inaccurate (emptying a whole clip and not hitting the enemy), they just lack that "Meaty" feel.Its entertaining for a couple of days, but after that...My advice is buy something else!

After you get through the very boring tutorial the game doesnt get much better :(Very inaccurate weapons with hardly any range means you have to practically be in their face to hit them.The HUD is horrible, health power-ups seem to help very little and the maps are very dull and boring.The onscreen objectives and messages whizz past so fast during combat you dont realise what you're doing.Overall a very poor game :(

this game is well hard dull and a terrible a.i oppents are almost tap dancing some of guns are not but others are terriblestay away and save yourself the bother unless this game is about a pound
