This is an exquisitely crafted deck of playing cards from Waddington's, who are perhaps best known for their expertise in the field of ouija boards. Although the supermarkets may sometimes have a good deal, you'll find much better prices for these on the Internet. "Can Asda*" compete? Not a chance. "Snap" some up online now. After all, there's nothing better than setting a table to play with some friends, whilst downing a few shots of neat alcohol. Usually I'll have a Captain Morgan first, closely followed by a shot of Gordon's. I don't typically swill the glass out in between, but that's okay. I like my "gin rummy". In case the taste gets overpowering,I keep a bowl of chewy sweets nearby featuring both fruit salads and "Blackjack-s" (if they get stuck in my teeth I simply "poke a" finger in to scrape them out). A little background music also adds a nice atmosphere, especially such light classics as the songs of Burt "Baccarat" (played on "shuffle"). In order to present a powerful table image, I like to wear a genuine American Stetson (along with some shades, set upon the "Bridge" of my nose). Not all of the states are big on traditional cowboy hats, although I know for a fact that the people of "Texas hold 'em" in high regard. Surprisingly, my own mother actually keeps asking to join our weekly game. "Oh, ma. Ha!" I always retort. If it's not that, she's usually going on and on about how old my childhood cot is now. Frankly, I'm not even faintly interested in the "crib-age".Coming back to the product itself, owing to the linen finish this deck would be perfect for anyone feeling "Whist-ful" about the authentic style of playing cards. Nowadays, a lot of brands will flagrantly incorporate all manner of cheap plastic. In terms of recent travesties it would be hard to "top Trump's" recent presidential win, but some of those modern cards coatings sure do come close. I read an article the other day about a material called aerogel- which is a substance formed chiefly of "solid-air**". They'll probably be making cards out of this rubbish before long. Technology has simply gone too far now. Last thing I heard, some 'scientists were trying to make a genetic replica of Sandy Toksvig. We don't need a "clone-dyke***" thanks.Anyway, these cards had served me marvellously, until the day when they suddenly vanished from the "deck chair" upon which I had been keeping them. It's not always "Happy Families" in our house and I'm pretty sure my wife Doreen must have nicked them, the devious "Old Maid". There was a time you see, when I'm pretty certain that I caught a quick glimpse of her making what looked like a bra stitched together from playing cards. However, she was extremely quick to usher me back out of the room. Yes, she's always had a tendency to keep her cards close to her chest.*Canasta**Solitaire***Klondike

Bought these to try and do some card tricks (which are coming along quite nicely) And they're really good. The linen finish gives them a great look and feel and they're very smooth for shuffling or slight of hand. What makes them really useful (especially for tricks) is that the cards return to being flat after being bent for shuffling or for any other reason. Also the edges do not fray so the cards stay crisp and fresh looking for longer. The one thing you have to remember (that I did not notice) is that THE COLOUR MAY VARY!! It says it in the title but I was stupid enough to read straight over it. I got a blue back which was not the colour I thought I was going to get but I don't care too much.It doesn't make any difference to me. If it does to you...well I'd get another pack or just get it from a shop. Finally, I have to say THE PRICE IS AMAZING! Great value and it will last you for a long time whether you're going to use them for tricks or games. Enjoy!

We play whist every Friday night with my Dad and my sister and we have been through several makes of cards in the last several years searching for the best quality, but we keep returning to Waddington's, the cards of our youth. We have been caught out with cards that you can see through, cards that are just slightly too small and cards that have large indexes which can't be seen when holding 13 cards in your hand. So we go back to these Waddingtons. They are so shiny and lovely when new, fit your hand so perfectly and are neither see through nor impossible to see, can be wiped a bit as they get older and stickier and are perfect for snap and teaching small kids new games at the end of their life. The only ones I will buy now, I can recommend them.

I’m left handed and I hate lazy playing cards that can’t be bothered to print the numbers and symbols in each of the 4 corners. Makes fanning out the cards a complete nightmare for a left hander! There is little worse in this world.....these cards are ACE.....see what I did there ;-).....perfect for left and right handers alike and the linen finish gives them a top quality feel. They slide over each other nicely...ooooo I say...and with a nice look and feel. So good I’ve just ordered another pack. I don’t really need another pack so they’ll probably end up in a drawer never used, but sometimes me you just can’t help yourself!

This 52-card pack comprises 13 ranks in each of the four French suits: clubs (♣), diamonds (♦), hearts (♥) and spades (♠), with reversible (double-headed) court cards (face cards). Each suit includes an Ace, a King, Queen and Jack, each depicted alongside a symbol of its suit; and numerals or pip cards from the Deuce (Two) to the Ten, with each card depicting that many symbols (pips) of its suit. Anywhere from one to six (most often two or three since the mid-20th century) Jokers, often distinguishable with one being more colourful than the other, are added to commercial decks, as some card games require these extra cards.

I'm a young magician and my dad gave me my very first deck of Waddingtons on my fifth birthday and they were my best deck I've ever held so I threw all my other decks away because they were rubbish compared to Waddingtons so i ordered some more to use and then I could spread perfectly e.g. ribbon spread and the le Paul S spread and now i can do my card tricks like a real magician. THEY ARE PEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRFFFFFFFFFEEEEECCCCCCCCCTTTTTTT?!?!?!ORDER THEM NNNNNNNOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

My husband and I are going abroad for a week and he promised to teach me how to play brag. I ordered the cards, said I needed them delivered quickly because I was going on holiday and what a great company, they arrived in two days - and to top that, postage was free. So a great bargain, very good quality, fantastic service, and really who cares what colour they are? They are great value. My only problem is how much money I will lose to my husband when we play cards.

It came wonderfully packages. When I opened the cellophane wrap there were approximately 52 different cards. Some had wonderful pictures of kings and queens and princes, others with shapes and numbers. I marveled at the variety and noticed all the reverse were the same color. The quality was wonderful and it was a pleasure to let them slide through my fingers as I shuffled the deck. THis was my first pack of cards but i certainally will be buying more

Lovely quality for the money. Would like to have been able to select the colour of the cards at time of purchase. Also, the finish on our cards is slightly different from deck to deck. Some games require two decks to be mixed, and if you look at the cards it is possible to tell from the shade of white on the face of the cards that they are not exactly the same. But the linen finish makes handling and shuffling the cards very satisfying.

Bought these directly from Amazon. Pack came with the hologram seal. These cards are of excellent quality. The cardstock is just right - not too flexible, not to stiff, producing that nice "snapping" sound on the table while maintaining the cards intact after a riffle shuffle. The linen finish is excellent, and it doesn't seem to be of the kind that gets sticky after a few plays. I wish the numbers were larger and bolder though.

There is nothing wrong with the cards at all. What else can you say?The box is nicely presented and the cards are good quality and shuffle well. The deck is sealed inside, so perfect if you are playing for money and cheating is a worry.About cards in general, there are endless games you can play for practically all ages and it's easy to adapt variations for each and even invent your own.Get some, learn some games and enjoy.

I agree with many others that these cards are of excellent quality and do last for a long time. I can see other reviewers were being ripped-off by the cost of postage. I did not encounter this problem myself as I had enough items in my basket to be eligible for free delivery. I note the other reviews were back in 2007. Therefore if there was a previous issue with P&P, then it is safe to say it has since been resolved.

My absolute preference is fully plastic cards for poker and other such games however if you are going to use the cards occasionally or just want a good cheaper deck these are great! In my opinion slightly nicer to use than bicycle and a 1000x better than the typical plastic coated nightmare that so many other cheap cards are! For the price they can't be beaten although if you takes things a little more seriously

Waddingtons playing cards are an incredible product for a wonderful value. For less than 1 pound you get a great deck of cards, nice looking and in a nice and security sealed box.The desing of the cards is classic, with original aces. The finising of the cards permits a comfortable shuffling and dealing.I absolutely recommend this product because it won't dissapiont you.

They're playing cards. Not a lot to go wrong with them. The individual packs are fine. The only problem I found is that you don't get to specify the colours of the backs. All the ones I received had the same colours. The supplier needs to split the order to two different coloured backs. If you order multiple packs, try putting in two separate orders and see if this helps.
