I am a big fan of cars indeed I collect them.I have been playing cards since my childhood and the ones we all ended up with in the 60s were Waddingtons.Other cheaper brands from Hong Kong and China tended to be plastic, cheap and nasty. They simply did not perform well at all.Flash forward to the 70s and endless games of Brag and Crash and the Waddington packs were well used and always seemed a bit tacky and soon became rather tatty in use.Later years I discovered American Brands like Bee Brand then Bicycle.The American brands were so much better thanks to their 'airflow' construction that made dealing and shuffling a pleasure.I was quite impressed by these Waddington Platinum Number 1 are

I ordered these as I figured we could do with a pack of cards as our old set is super beat up, I expected just a regular set of cards but this Platinum Deck (U.S. spelling?) is really something. They came sealed and with a further tamper seal across the top of the actual box. When I opened them....goodness what an amazing looking set. They are obviously a plastic card but the finish is a silver (platinum if you will) foil look. Amazing - the cards are iridescent and change somewhat when you move them in the light - the diamonds and hearts being the most noticeable. The court cards are really colourful and the Ace of Spades (cue Lemmy) is almost a work of art. The cards themselves are very tactile and have a nice feel to them,

This review is for the Platinum plastic deck in Silver.If you want some cards that can take a bit of abuse, then these will do you proud. They are not the easiest to handle as they have a high slip level, but the are tough. I play with cellulose-plastic KEM cards which have lasted years and still look like new despite monthly game nights. They are much easier to handle, but come with a price tag. These Waddington cards are more on the novelty and casual side than for serious playing. They are not as cheap as card based playing cards, but they will outlast them.The design is good and I particularly like the way the light reflects on them and gives the suits a shimmer.

These are very stylish playing cards. I received the silver pack, which all have Waddingtons of London Number 1 on the back. The front of the card has a sparkly, silver backing, with shiny red, or black detailing. The red hearts, for example, have what appears as a smaller heart inside the larger one.We don’t play cards very much, but, recently, we have played more as a family and my children have enjoyed playing with these. They are much prettier than other card packs I have owned previously. The only negative point is that they are quite thin and would be easily bent. So a little more style over substance, but my kids love the way they look, and think they are great.

Way back in the early 80's when I started doing card magic there were only two brands of cards that were readily available, Piatnik and Waddingtons. They are a well-made card, which will last through normal use. In fact, I still have some of the original packs from the '80s in my magic case. You can slightly bend them and the go back to the original shape. They glide very well and are easy to shuffle as they tend not to stick together. Overall they are a great quality card and I am happy to recommend them.

Oh my life I’ve never seen anyone so ecstatic to get a pack of cards? my kids love the shininess and the holograms and the silkiness and have been whipping me at all the card games they know since the cards arrived! Cards are a bit slippery but it doesn’t matter in any way to us for family usage. They feel durable and like they will take the beating of being shuffled badly by a six year old which is what we need. Really pleased with them.

Whether it's a solo session of patience or getting your mates around for a few hands of poker, these are an excellent choice of playing cards.The hologram finish on the box is beautifully striking and the cards themselves are beautifully printed and have a pleasing brushed metallic style finish to them.Obviously there are cheaper playing cards available but, for a still modest price, I doubt you will play with a nicer pack than this.

Handy to have a pack of cards around, especially when travelling! I recognise the famous Waddingtons name but until I unpacked them I didn’t realise the platinum actually meant the cards themselves aren’t white but a slightly sparkly silver colour.Used these with friends (who liked the platinum look to them!) and they’re good quality cards, not made with thin cheap card, so I think they’ll definitely last a good while!

My 12 year old is absolutely thrilled with these, we thought maybe it was just a shiny packet with normal cards inside but every card is silvery in the front and back and look very glamorous. They are a bit heavier than normal cards, presumably because more plastic content. Feel like they will last a good long time. She is very excited to take them to school tomorrow and show them off.

These cards stand out against your normal deck of cards. They gace a quality feel with their metallic backing and are pretty special when it comes to the hologram effect of the suit changing. The cards slip off easily and are therefore great for shuffling and dealing.My only reservation with them is that they are not as clear and easy to read as a white back ground.

I have only played a few dozen games with these, but they have been OK. I struggle to do a decent shuffle but that might be just my ineptitude. They are so reflective you could use them to send SOS messages to passing aircraft. Would I replace them with the same type, not sure, whilst the quality is great, they are a bit of a novelty really.

This is a nice set of playing cards, which comes with 2 jokers in the pack. Each card is said to be made of a plastic, so they are fairly strong and durable for play. These cards are quite fancy, being a silver foil effect, so they are ultra shiny. A nice deck to play cards with individually or for group card games.

These are strong, water resistant cards ( beer resistant too!) that are great for games night.The platinum finish is smart and classy,the faces clear and easy to read and they slide against each other effortlessly when being shuffled.They make a real impression and definitely look luxary.

This review is for a set of classic platinum playing cards.Package arrived well and promptly.Excellent set of playing cards very good quality. Used many times already with the kids and also with lads. Will likely get more in the future when these die... but expect them to last a while.

Really nice looking cards. Bit on the slippy side but they're very easy to read and make a nice change from paper cards. Nice subtle touches, too, like how the hearts on the Hearts suit are made up of concentric hearts getting ever smaller into their centre. Very happy with the purchase.
