My 7 month old son was instantly mesmerised by this strange and new musical/flashing ball that was propelling itself around the living room! It has a built-in motor that makes it roll around, but it tends to go in small circles so will roll back in his direction sooner or later and doesn't often go far out of reach. The music and sounds are a bit annoying for parents after a while ('move and crawl with your animal friends!') but you can turn the volume to the lower setting which helps. It will also stop all movement and sound every so often which gives my son chance to catch up with it, and then off it goes again. The chunky buttons are easy to press and there's also ribbon tags and a slider which he likes to play with. His favourite bit however is the rotating duck on the top which goes round and round with the motor. He loves to catch hold of this, but when he does it makes a horrible clicking sound as he's preventing rotation and it sounds like it's about to break. He's done it hundreds of times and it hasn't actually broken, but the noise is awful - bit of a design flaw. He's been playing with it for a month now and hasn't lost interest - he often watches it expectantly even when turned off, expecting it to suddenly flash and sing and roll around. At first he would just sit and watch it but this quickly progressed to reaching, rolling and bum shuffling towards it, so I think it's really helping his movement. It comes with batteries so is ready to play straight out of the box.

* Update: After a fault developed with this toy I was able to fix the issue by removing and reinstalling the batteries to reset it.The Vtech Crawl and Learn ball is a good sensory toy that allows toddlers to chase the ball, but also has many other interesting features. The two step volumes control/on switch starts it up, which includes the top lights flashing and sounds. Pressing on the animals will sound the animal and its colour, and play a song. Two animals offer different switches, a spinning bunny and a click switch bird. There's also a counting game and the unit plays 12 different songs. These include pop goes the weesel, teddy bears picnic and ring around the rosy. Some songs I wasn't too familiar with...but its been a while since I was a kid.I've been playing with this toy with my niece and she really loves it. The flashy lights and animal noises really appeal to her. Its also fun when the toy wobbles around the floor too. For something to keep a child amused, and teach them a few things at the same time, it ticks all the right boxes.

I like to write reviews on products a while after it has been used so i can really give an honest and overall view.i bought this for my son when he was 9 months old to encourage crawling and just like magic the little spinning bird at the top had his undivided attention. buying this gave him the boost he needed, not only did he start moving finally (as he would usually just sit and cry for toys that wernt reachable) he quickly became a walker at just 10months, barely a month after. he just got up and walked (4steps) after the run away ball, it was the most exciting thing ever. He is now 2years old and the battery life is still veryu strong,we havnt changed it since we bpught it and he still plays with it but instead of roling it around he kicks it all about the place.

"Move and crawl with your animal friends!" is what you will be thinking as you wake up in the middle of the night. "The monkey likes the number 2. Can you find the monkey?" is the first thought you'll have as you wake up in the morning. You'll be out with a friend, having a chat and suddenly it hits you - "Animals, animals all around, can you find all the animals...".Damn this addictive little ball. It's my 8 month olds favourite device and it helps us SO much when changing the curious little rascal. It's also been used as a lure to encourage a good 2metre crawling burst.I have such a love/hate relationship with this ball. It's effective and engaging...but it also is infectious and puts animal songs in my head!

This ball will roll at the press of a button, which my baby find fascinating. It plays songs, animal sounds, numbers, etc. It’s bright and colourful, which makes my daughter want to follow it everywhere it goes. It has volume control which is essential in our household these days...We used to have one of these for our first daughter and I’m am not very sure if this is an improvement or not as I can’t really remember it. I would say that if you want to your little one to become more mobile, this is a great toy. If you, however, want to enjoy the peace for a little bit longer, just hang on another couple of months before getting this, as this ball will definitely encourage them to crawl.

My baby was bought this for Christmas this year and had just started walking so we were a bit dubious about whether he’d get any use. BUT he loves it! He laughs at it spinning around, trying to grab the turtle and enjoys pressing the different animals to hear the various music/songs.As you can see from my video there doesn’t seem to be any issue with movement on carpet, it whizzes around with ease.I’ve seen quite a few reviews saying it doesn’t encourage baby to move or crawl so maybe Vtech have misjudged the audience age/ability?!?Obviously different babes like different things but the Crawl and Learn ball is still a massive hit in our house a month after christmas.

Without a doubt of all the toys our little boy (now 13 months) has, this is the one that has consistently generated the most interest. He's had it from 6 months and it has always been a source of good entertainment for him. Yes it might have a repetitive song and clattering from the spinning top as he grabs and holds or chews it but he's very happy playing with it and as a result I have nothing but praise for this toy. The movement of it rolling around has encouraged him to crawl around and as he's got older he's enjoyed picking it up and rotating it. Best tenner we've ever spent!

It's great! It really holds my 8 month old daughter's attention and she crawls after it, mostly as she likes the spinning bird on the top.Only downside is, she was terrified by it until a few weeks ago (I bought it when she was five months old). It is quite a scary toy for younger babies I think, as it just moves towards them, and if they're not yet capable of moving out of the way, it'll just keep on coming at them (and hitting them repeatedly!!!). Would be really good if it had a non-move, just lights and sounds mode, for when they are younger.

My little girl loves this. We have wooden floors and it rolls around really well, so can't comment on how it fairs on carpet. I bought this for her when she was about 5/6 months and was sitting up on her own playing with it in her lap, and then using it to motivate her into crawling, and she's over 1 year now and still loves playing with it. It's very sturdy (the amount of times it's been thrown or dropped onto our floors and it's still going strong like the day we got it!) and just a great quality toy you'd expect from VTech, highly recommend.

I was a little worried that this toy had a short shelf life as it is mainly aimed at crawling babies, but having seen my little boy really enjoy playing with a friend's one, I purchased one for him and it's been fantastic. It is one of his favourite toys even though he is now cruising more than crawling. The buttons are big enough for him to easily press himself and it keeps playing music and flashing lights even when it hasn't been pressed for a little while which is great for encouraging little ones to move and follow it around the room.

My niece loves this, its bright, spinny, makes fun noises that she is fascinated by, and it can be pushed all around the lounge floor as she crawls around.Vtech toys are always nicely made, with good quality materials and this one is also quite resilient, its been thrown across the room several times by my 3-year old son and its still working just fine. There are lots of buttons to push and lights to activate, so its been used a lot, not just by the 7 month old but also by my son, though hes really too old for it.5 stars

This is a great little toy, well made, lots of different interaction and our 8 month old loves it - well she cried the first time she played with it and took a little while to get over her nerves but she keeps going back to it.In our opinion it is well worth the money and the only thing which annoys me is that it comes with the typical VTech 'voice' - This, to me, is more akin to a freaky child from a horror movie than an endearing child's toy but harsh to take a star off for that so 5*'s from us.

Well like all other vtech stuff, this does the same thing but in a different way. Works as described, rolling with music when buttons pressed to stimulate crawling.I will admit though, it don’t roll much and takes a few interactions for it to start, not every button press triggers a movement. Has very limited music and sounds, with only 3 buttons, so after you press a few things with your child for about 30 seconds or so, theres really nothing more to learn from it. It just repeats.

I recently bought this for my 6 month old who has just begun crawling. The 1st time she played with it she loved it. It's very educational with different buttons with animals, letters and shapes along with melody. However she's quickly become bored with it. Its very repetitive and only has 2 sing along songs. It rocks on carpet but moves easier over hard floors. I think she'll get more out of it when she's a bit older and has the strength to push the buttons as they're very stiff.

Our little 4-month old can't take her eyes off the ball when it's in action! Once turned on, the ball rolls around for a few seconds with lights & sounds before settling down for a break, before repeating the feat. It has buttons on the side that the voice encourages your child to touch as well. It's a sturdy product & while I can't comment on its longevity, it's certainly kept her attention, plus that of other children. Definitely glad we purchased it, a fun little product.
