This Smart Shots Sports Centre is aimed at children aged 1-3. It is fairly easy to put together, although some assembly is required – you will need a screwdriver and also 3xAA batteries (not included). Still, it only took about ten minutes to put together and that is pretty good compared to most toys. This has an on/off switch and you can have the volume at two levels. Or, indeed, turn it off, but then it obviously will not react when children interact with it. This is fairly stable, but I would suggest putting it against a wall so young children can’t push it over and hurt themselves. As well as the toy itself, you get a soft basketball and a soft football. The set has a basketball hoop and a goal and constantly plays tunes, gives verbal encouragement and also has lots of other buttons to interact with. There are cogs/gears to turn, a flap to open, which will give instructions, such as, “drop the ball into the basket,” or “kick the ball in the net to score a goal,” buttons to push and flashing lights. There is a raised trophy/cup on one side, which lights up, but, oddly, you cannot push it. It would have been nice if this was moveable, as my little testers spent much time pushing at it, to no avail. It is tactile and just below the shaped buttons. On the plus side, it encourages active play and aids co-ordination. Babies, and toddlers, will love putting the ball through the hoop, or kicking it into the net. There is an element of early learning, with the light up scoreboard introducing early counting skills. Plus the shaped buttons do introduce colours and shape name. There are lots of musical tunes, plus lots of verbal encouragement to interact with the toy, and things to push and turn if your little one sits in front of it.On the minus side, just push it against a wall to stop it toppling – it is sturdy, but better safe than sorry. Also, the hoop is very low. A three year old would certainly have to be sitting in front of this to put the ball in the hoop and I think it is better for 1-2 year olds to be honest; a three year old would need something bigger than this and a small goal in the garden would work better, in my opinion. Overall, though, colourful, very interactive and good fun.

There is some assembly required, most of the pieces click together but there are 6 screws, for which you will need a Phillips head screwdriver; you also need 3 X AA batteries, which aren't supplied. There are 2 balls, a football and a netball, these are proper balls and can be inflated with a standard football pump if needed. The unit has an on-off switch with 2 volume levels. The scoreboard uses bright red LEDs, visible in all but very bright sunlight. My grandson, who is 2, is a big fan of the Vtech toot-toot vehicles and this unit carries on in a similar fashion with various phrases of encouragement and cheering and music when a score is made. There are also various cog wheels, buttons and levers to explore. My grandson enjoyed playing with it, the football part was more successful as the netball hoop is a bit low, however we did put the unit on a table for netball and that worked better. Overall though a good toy that works well and keeps children interested.

My 3 year old loves this basketball and football combo set. It comes with two balls, mid-sized and perfect for small hands, that are nice and soft, but which can be inflated slightly more if you wish. The unit is easy to assemble, and the screen lights up and displays the score or a dot matrix person jumping and waving. The music and speech is also good, not too irritating thankfully, and it has two volumes, which aren't annoyingly loud. When the ball is kicked into the net, or dropped through the hoop, the unit counts out loud the number of goals scored and cheers and plays music. it encourages the child to keep kicking to score more goals etc.Its nicely made and should withstand a heavy handed 3 year old reapeatedly thwacking balls at it.The only annoying bit that my son keeps pulling off is the purple plastic lever bit on the top right of the goal. That's going to need super gluing on soon, otherwise we will probably lose it.5 stars

Vine review : Well V tech tends to have a very comprehensive and interactive style with their preschool type of toys and is a slight deviation from the norm in the normally more educational righties that we have tried before. This is a little assembly and you will need a screwdriver to insert the batteries but overall it is a fun toy that doubles up as a football goal and a basketball net and Campus with one of each ball. It has lots of cheering sounds and songs that play when you press the very bright intracted buttons on the front and there are a few small activities to keep your toddler engage. Our two-year-old did really enjoy using this for several days haven’t lost a bit of interest after a while so I’m not sure whether this sort of toy have long-term longevity but it is good for awhile and good fun even for the adults

This is a nice sports centre aimed at younger children with bright colours, educational elements and lots of stimulating lights and sounds as to be expected from Vtech toys. The set introduces both football and basketball with a net for your little one to kick the ball into which responds when they do so and a hoop for your little one to pop the ball into which introduces counting and numbers. The centre also introduces shapes and colours and has some lights and music. The centre is quite small and so I would think that perhaps 2.5 years old would be the maximum age for it.Another fun toy from Vtech and we love their toys having bought many over the years.Fun but educational and well designed as to be expected from Vtech.

2-3 year olds love this new version of the Vtech Sports Center. Scoring goals and hoops, counting, encouraging sounds, things to feel and interact with. All great. There are two sound levels to choose from.Needs a few screws to be put in and 3 batteries, then it is good to go. Good quality plastic that will not break. No corners or sharp edges to get hiurt on.No Amazon price available at the time of this review. However, it is currently available elsewhere at under £50, which is great value.

I really like this. Its quite a versatile toy and being from vtech is well made. You can use it as a football goal or basketball net and it includes two soft balls for either. You can adjust the volume which is great and it reacts to our little ones' efforts. On the frame are some other activities to explore as well as some sound buttons.Top toddler toy!

My 17 month old would forever be putting his balls over the stair gates we got this to entice him to stop and it worked his little face lights up when he scores a hoop or gets it in the goal and he claps for a clever boy he has a little dance to the tunes so many different phrases it is extremely entertaining would recommend definitely

Bought this for my nephew in his 2nd birthday he is a fan of football although he didn’t get the hang of the game he still finds it entertaining its easy to assemble and sturdy and have nice features the only downside is the size which sld have been a little bigger to make it more understandble and entertaining for a 2 yr old

Very good quality and very sturdy but very noisey. It is big when built and is hard to store but worth it.Its really educational with lights ,sounds and numbers. It counts out loud when you score a goal. My 2 and four year olds love it.Thank goodness it has an off switch. This does eat batteries

Bought for visiting grandchildren. 1 year old girl 15 month boy & his big sis age 7 . Good fun for all family to get ball in net. Lights up when score. Babies can do the basketball. Still working on football for 15 month grandson. Worth the money. Can go in garden in summer

Bought ready for Christmas, box came intact and all parts were there. Just don't pull it out of the box if you want to get it back in. My little girl is going to love this. The score board is bigger than I expected. Made out of sturdy plastic so I think it will survive the toddler

Got this for my little boys first birthday in February, he loves it the older he’s getting. Putting the ball in the hoop keeps him amused for lengthy periods of time. Only down fall is it’s so lightweight he can turn it upside down and tries to climb on it.

*Great value for money*Very durable*Very educational My Grandson absolutely love this that I bought him for his birthday. Its got so many features to help with counting etc. It's fun, it's sturdy and value for money. I would definitely recommend.

This was a great purchase, the features are fun for kids who aren't quite on their feet yet as there's textures and sounds, and then it's great for motor skills for once they are a little bit older and getting steady on their feet
