Very good if you like this sort of racing and play. Get more information before to make sure it his is for you and your kids (check videos and forums, the adverts over hype it a little). This is not quite as “bash n crash” as the old Scalextric but has a lot more flexible options out the box and adds another dimension to the racing. You can find my brief action video and more info if you search for “Real FX Racing - Championship Race - Pit Stops, Custom Settings”. We regularly have lots of fun chasing around the track, throwing 'Oil spills' and transition problems at each other whilst crashing and pushing cars off the track. Plus features such as automatic lap counting, race position and fastest lap notifications,it's often an exciting competitive event. My 2 girls 4 and 7 love it but although they are into girly stuff they are a bit more tomboyish than most and I have to make sure everything is running "A1" "tip top" for them to play hard. The track is bigger than you think, if you use the full starter track setup, depending on shaped selected, it is roughly 9ft by 3ft (3m by 1m but can be cut down slightly smaller) plus some wriggle room for kids, UK new build house owners, good luck ;). My girls (and I) are looking at the Cross over bridge track upgrade for Figure 8 setups, using the free downloadable Track Editor Application to plan layouts in restricted available room size. Or we might just decide to get more cars cheaply by buying another starter kit then painting up the other 2 cars ;).Shop around the Starter kit price has now dropped to £50 UK, what can you get for that these days? I’ve had no WiFi car comms issues personally but for those that do, always use good/charged AAA batteries in the cars (only last 3 or 4 hours of play), otherwise try turning your router/TV off. If any of the set malfunctions, try contacting the highly motivated support team or send it back. If the wheels are too loose and come off too easy off-roading on bumpy concrete then pack the hub with thin paper (no big deal for me). Lots more FAQs at http://realfxracing.com/supportWe really hope Real FX Racing gets good market traction, as we can't wait to see where further development can take this product, look how far it has come in such a short time. So far, we are impressed, thanks.Race? Bring it on!

We bought this as a Christmas present for my 5 year old son. I have to say that it is really good fun. Although it is recommended for 8 years+, my son can control the car just by using the throttle trigger. The sensors in the car try to keep the car on the track in assisted mode. For older children (and big kids like me) the R/C mode is a challenge and is great fun. You can even set a car up as a pace car and race against that, so my son could play this on his own. I had a simple Scalextric set as a kid but this is streets ahead of that. You can overtake and steer the car without being restricted to slots. The audio from the handset is excellent and there is a headphone jack on each controller,if the noise has to be kept down. After a few months we had an issue where the yellow car would only turn in circles when running in assisted mode. I saw on a Forum that other users had experienced this issue. I sent an email to their support team at Real FX and had an answer within 30 minutes. They shipped us a recalibration tool which arrived the following day. We plugged this device into the micro USB port on the car's chassis. It fixed the problem within 30 seconds. Exceptional service. We then bought a Crossover pack which allows you to include a bridge in the track layout and means you can get the track to cross itself. This improved the game even further. The one slight quibble I would have with the Crossover pack is that it seems disproportionately expensive (at £29.99) when compared with the actual game which retails at around £50 on Amazon. If you are looking for a really great game for children to play which is great fun for adults too then I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Real FX Racing.

The cars are fast and accuratly to handle. They also didn't take any damage after the first couple of crashes. As the cars are working as usual RC cars we could build races looking as we wanted, abusing books and other stuff for walls.Remote and car take 3 AAAs each, so you'd have a lot of batteries ready when starting but they last long enough to play a couple of times before changing them.On the down side there is no display for showing stuff as the ranking (or the extras like fuel left etc.), so every information is shared my the audio of the remote. A big plus for the big variaty of languages to be chosen from for the commentary. Another issue is that the lap counter is easy to cheat and sometimes doesn't count properly. The biggest disappointment is the carrera mode for me, as this was a great part of my motivation buying this product. The carrera mode is not working well, you leave the track super easily and getting back on it is very inconvenient getting back on the track again without switching the control mode away from carrera. All together it was worth it's money for me but there wouldn't have been a big difference getting two RC cars for the money and racing with those.

Who didn't want a scalextric when they were younger? For a lot of kids it was top of the Christmas list and this year I was going to get one for my kids for that reason. The idea of slotless racing intrigued me so I ended up going for this instead of a scalextric. What have I done I thought immediately after buying it? It's not going to be any good - like the cheap imitations I used to play with when I was kid. I was completely wrong, real fx racing is amazing. Lots of difficulty levels so you can auto assist with steering and speed. Move up to pro level and you are being requested to come into the pits and also damage is on so you can end up crashing out the race. You can also set one of the cars to be a pace car so if there is only 1 player you can race against the computer essentially. The build quality is really good also. Lots of track configurations out the box and you can add more track and cars. Never thought scalextric would be bettered but I have to say it has been!

Totally love this product. I meant to say my kids really love this. what a great present. The controllers and cars can be a little fiddly to set up but once its working you will have lots of fun. there are different modes you can choose from. You basically have 2 remote control cars that you can use as you please. Or you can have a pair of cars that will stick to the tracks by them selves with some voodoo magic so long as you don't have an over zelous trigger finger. Or you can have a competition mode that is really good fun over a set number of laps. The track you get in this kit is HUGE! Up to around 12 foot /3 m in length and maybe 1.5m/2m wide. You will need a big space for this.I believe there is also a bridge kit and extra track you can buy which I would consider buying too.Only down side is the batteries are not included. This does however give you a very good reason to invest in a good set of AAA and AA rechargeable batteries and charger.

Bought this at a discounted price whilst it was a 'deal of the day'.......it has been great fun to play with, using both the race track and the cars as regular rc vehicles !! Really glad that we didn't pay too much attention to the negative reviews ( specifically about the thinness of the track / being like paper) - yes the track is fairly lightweight, but this is not a negative thing! My husband was able to put the track together with ease and didn't tear or damage it and the cars flew round it with ease...it was great not having to keep slotting the cars back onto the track when then did spin off - you literally just put the car back on the track, anywhere!!!!!! Great fun, especially as I forgot about it so my daughter had an extra present three days after Christmas!!!!!

Well scaletrix original is good but OMG this piece of kit is just amazing. The cars and controllers are such good quality, and have different levels of entertainment, practice, tournament mode etc. The cars no where the edge of the track is if you selected that mode or you can just steer it round yourself. You get commentary from the control and it even lap counts and gives you best lap times. My 8 year old loves it and so do I it's quite addictive so much so I bought another one so we can make more track and have 4 cars and controllers. So simple to assemble and put away and this track is paper thin but high quality. It does use batteries instead of electricity but just so worth it.

Bought for my sons 4th Birthday and lugged the set all the way to Germany for him to open as we were on holiday at the time. I was worried about the reviews- even more so as I got a warehouse deal which made it even more likely it was a dud that somebody had already sent back. The reality was the set was perfect- works perfectly and the technology is amazing- its already lasted a month and the dreaded 1st battery change (which with a 4 year old and his two year old brother bashing it around all day is already beyond expectation).

This really is excellent and a massive jump forward from scalextric racing. You can use these cars as normal remote control cars too but the big thrill is having them on the track which is superb. The ghost AI car really works and there are so many added bonuses like pitting and random hazards thrown in. Bought for 11 year old who loves it. Only downside is the battery usage - the cars needed changing after only a week's playing.

This is a lot of fun and my son really loved it. Setting up the track is easy and having the different modes on the cars is great as you can take a car off the track using RC mode to get used to the controls before using the track. Only thing with the cars is that they are very delicate. Bumping them into things has caused the wheels to fall off, however they do click back on and the car works fine then. Prefer this to Anki.

Christmas present for my grandson. His dad has told me that it is fantastic, they all love it and it is "miles" better than other similar racing toys, as you can do a lot more. His only very slight worry is that the track may get torn but otherwise, this was a resounding success! I am unable to comment on it from a technical point of view because I don't drive, haha!

10.4.2017

This works really well and was great value at the price I paid. Fair amount of track makes for good play value and the cars have stood up to plenty of play. Not too draining on the batteries and the track is more robust than it looks. Great fun - have had a few problems with controls dropping out and it's not that intuitive to set up but all in all lots of fun.

5.1.2016

Works a treat and the cars, for the most part, do actually follow the track. Just two things - the track is wider/bigger than you might think so you need a fair bit of clear floor space and secondly, the track is basically a textured cardboard that has to clip/slot into its sections and I'm a dubious about how long this will last having to keep taking it apart.

4.7.2018

Brilliant. Better than Scalex because you actually steer. Auto drive function allows solo use with AI competitor. BUT: needs lots of space, especially if you have the expansion sets. Keep cats and dogs away!! Don't like the oil slick feature :- random uncontrollable full throttle at corners, just when you have mastered the track. Eats batteries.

12.2.2017

Takes up a surprisingly lot of floor space but takes the old slot racing to a new level. Cars can either guide themselves around the track or you can be in full control. All battery powered which means you are not tied to a power source but you will need an ample supply of fresh batteries.
