I admit the game is not as good as purple haze or fist alpha, but saying there are not enough weapons available for use is bs. (steveyorkkei "steveyorkkei" wrote that). There are 50 (VC and american) weapons at your disposal and saying that you can only carry a limited amount of weapons around is true, but that's the same in most games and adds to the realism. (vietcong: purple haze, call of duty 1+2+3, halo 1+2, BIA, swat 1+2+3+4, the regiment, rainbow six, anyone?)As said in other reviews, the game is no where near as long as the other two, but there is more variety. (you can play as Vietcong or American.)The single player is about 12 hours long comparing to the other two games which was about 17 each. The story is also a lot better and deeper in this game aswell. It explores the reasons why the VC are fighting the war and even tries to justify it, ( when you play as Vietcong.)In terms of gameplay, Vietcong 2 is completely different to the other two. Surprisingly, in the US campaign, there is hardly ever a point where you are actually in the jungle. It is mainly in the cities. ie ( you play the embassy seige in saigon.) The VC campaign (significantly shorter than the US campaign) sees you fighting in the jungle and urban enviroments. I have to say, that I prefer the style of the older games, ie set completely in the jungle.Graphically, the game is definately a step up from the last games, but still isn't perfect. Some of the textures are a little bland. The AI is still pretty bad unfortunately and you will in some areas of the game be able to just walk right up to them and stick a knife in their head. However, it is still a step up from the previous games.Overall, I would definately recommend this game to people who have played purple haze and fist alpha and those people who have played neither due to the completely different enviroments.Overall I would give the game 7.5/10.

Whilst you're waiting for another decent game to come out (they don't make them like they used to!), there is absolutely no reason not to get Vietcong 2 if you enjoyed the original game, particularly at the price the game is available at now. Most of the game is set this time in urban surroundings, making this slightly different from the original. That doesn't take away from the fact that its still great fun and probably one of the best Vietnam games available. All the best aspects of Vietcong remain, in particular the fact that you can stand there with bullets flying past everywhere with constant shouting from the soldiers around you, really getting the feeling of chaos which made Vietcong so good. The only major downfall of the game is that its too short. There is alongside the US campaign a VC campaign but the problem is who on earth wants to play as a VC soldier, and quite inevitably the VC campaign is both pointless and annoying. Also absent is the ability to play a random single map with VC spotted all over the place (the single mission mode or something from the original Vietcong), which heavily detracts from the games lasting power.Basically, if you liked Vietcong, you really should get this game, but don't expect to be kept occupied for more than a few days.
