I bought this as backup for my regular (heavy) Velbon tripod, to provide a much lighter alternative to go with my MM3 travel scope, which is itself a lighter alternative to my full size Swarovski.I'm generally quite happy with it so far, the whole outfit is much lighter than my other gear. My reservations were and are that it would not be satisfactorily steady for the scope (it is better than I expected) and that the all-plastic pan and tilt head would be fragile. This will remain to be seen, but after past experience with a cheapish tripod bought from Currys which was total rubbish (the plastic clamp ring broke at the first tightening and the clamping screws lost their thread nearly as quickly...straight to the bin),

Although I didn't purchase this tripod from Amazon (I purchased from John Lewis) I have had this tripod for about 3 years and it still works brilliantly. It comes with a small pouch with a sling strap has a spirit level, portrait mode, smooth panning, and easy three way movements. It's good for photo and keeping your camera still in videos. For a tripod in the £20-30 price bracket it is most impressive. The base is sturdy and although it does not have a removable head it doesn't matter. This product from Velbon is a great steal for less than £30 and a highly recommended buy for the price. The quick release plate is a massive bonus, adding to the desirability.

Great for value. Although not recommended by a lot of people, this tripod has kept up the weight of my D700 full frame camera and 24 - 85mm camera lens, which weighs around 1.4 KG for a very long time. Its also been battered alot during my adventures, so thats really something.

I just got my Velbon EX-440 tripod. It's very compact, which is important to me and very easy to carry.It’s very quick to set up and easy to secure the camera.A good, inexpensive choice.
