The other reviews sum this product up fine but not many tell you this.Inflate it a few times before you use it properly!!It arrives fully vacuum packed. I would advise you unroll it and leave it in a nice airy area to "inflate" for the first time. You will need to unscrew the 2 valves fully and probably go and undo them a little more as it gets going.I manually blew some air into it the first time as the "cells" inside were all packed together from shipping. Putting it down is a little bit fun, as by nature it wants to reinflate. I found having someone sit on the other end as you tightly roll it worked best for me. I would inflate it fully and deflate it a few times at home before any serious use.Now when I go camping,I leave it unpacked on the floor while i put the tent up. By the time I am getting around to doing the air bed and putting my stuff in it's upto its full 7.5cm. Also remember to re-seal the valves.Don't expect this to be a replacement for an air bed. its a glorified roll mat which will make a difference though. I use mine underneath another large air bed to stop the cold transfer and it seems to work great for that. You could probably sleep on it if you were slumming it, or were on the floor at home for a day or two.As you would expect the package is quite big and somewhat heavy (compared to a roll mat). It does come with a handy carry case and straps though.

I upgraded to the Vango self-inflating mat from the run of the mill yoga like mat that most people buy for their first camping expedition. Chances are you're looking at it because you're tired from waking up during the night with aches and pains. The mat does what it says on the tin, it self-inflates efficiently and isn't too arduous to roll back up and get back in it's bag. My annual trip to WOMAD was so much better this year as a result of getting some decent sleep with not a hint of sore bones from lying on the ground, albeit on a 5mm layer of compressed foam. The one thing you should be aware of is it's not a lightweight model, I knew that in advance but I only had to get it from the house to the car to the tent pitch. If you are going to be doing a lot of hiking you'll probably want a lighter weight version, which you'll pay a little more for. However that said, assuming you don't mind carrying a little extra you'll find it's worthwhile due to the quality of sleep you'll get.For reference I'm 78Kg, if you're a bit heavier your experience may not be the same as mine but I think you'd have to be quite a bit heavier before it gets detrimental.

I bought 2 of these mats as an alternative to normal air beds. I read various reviews and plumped for 5cm mats which I thought would do the job. I read the instructions and let them inflate a few times at home before taking them camping. They were great, they fold up fairly small to transport, a little large and heavy for hiking though I would say. It took only a few minutes to fully inflate and the depth was perfect for me. I was a little cynical in how they would perform in relation to an airbed due to quite a large depth difference.I am over 6 feet tall and around 15 stone, I found the mat to be very comfortable, It was far more comfortable than any air bed I have used,no rolling or loosing air through the night and plenty of cushioning, I personally don`t think it is worth paying more money for a deeper mat.My wife also found them to be very comfortable, normally when we go camping it is a little like " The Princess & The Pea", this time no complaints what so ever.Highly recommend

Repair kit not supplied by Amazon: The mattress is fine, inflates easily and is comfortable. Amazon advertised this with a repair kit which is included, as stated in the data sheet supplied with the mattress by the manufacturer. I bought 2 mattresses but neither contained repair kits. I wanted to keep the mattresses but also wanted the repair kit (not good to have your bedding deflating on a remote 3 week trek). After some effort, I finally reached a customer services rep who claimed that the repair kit was 'mistakenly' advertised by Amazon. I contacted the manufacturer who said a repair patch was included with the mattress as standard and they would send me a couple.Amazon are still saying that this is not the case and have offered me less than my postage as compensation. They are not adedquately standing behind the products they offer. and there appears to be a lack of understanding about what the manufacturer actually supplies.

Great bit of kit. Really comfy. 7.5cm is perfectly comfortable especially for occasional camping. I also bought a 10cm double which is super comfy too. If you're dithering over which depth to buy then I would say if you can afford to spend more on 10cm then you should BUT these singles were a bargain price and for the extra I would have had to spend for 10cm singles it wasn't worth it. I slept on this single for a week and I was as comfy as in my own bed. It is thick enough to let out a bit of air if you prefer a slightly softer mat. I left mine overnight to fully inflate and plump up first time I unpacked it but after that it takes about 5 minutes to inflate. They do need storing inflated to stay in best condition so I'm keeping mine under the spare bed. You won't go back to old air beds after these. Highly recommended by me (a fair weather camper who likes a comfy bed!)

As a seasoned camper I know the need for a decent carry mat/air bed. I prefer carry mats as air bed are to soft and move too much underneath you (bit like camping bed). This mattress combines the two, it's thicker than a carry mat and shallower than an air bed but it is firmer. You could have it spread out for two or folded to make a single for one.You do need to puff a little bit of air into to make it firmer and when rolling it up after use you will need to remember to loosen the air vents to push air out and tighten the vents to stop the air being stocked back in. Time consuming until you learn the nack of it but all in all a good mattress for camping.A bit cumbersome to move about but once you get to camp and have your tents put up then you won't need to move it until it's time to pack away again

Let me begin this by saying that I am not particularly a camping fan. I had camped as a teenager and found it very uncomfortable, so I was dreading taking my sons to family camp. On the recommendation of a friend we decided to get self inflating mats, and I can tell you it was very good advice. I was actually comfortable over night and it felt fairly similar to my bed back home. It was easy to inflate, just needing a few extra puffs after it did its self inflating business, and it stayed inflated for the two days with no signs of leaks. I could not feel the cold of the ground at all, or any bumps, plus it wasn't noisy or bouncy like normal air beds can be. Packing it up was easy too. Thanks to this (and some other decent kit)I am actually beginning to think we might go camping again for fun.

This is probably the best thing I've ever bought for my camping trips, festivals and generally for sleeping on someone's floor without any other support.I've had mine for about 18 months now and probably have used it over 30 times, and barring a single puncture near the valve, I've had no other issues. I don't handle it in the most gentle of manners, and it has to put up with my ~90kg frame lying on it and it has stood up really well. It's also super easy to use, simply opening the valve to inflate, giving it a slight top up once it's full, and you're ready! To deflate, I just open the valve and fold it into sections before sitting on it to flatten it. Either way,it only takes me 5 minutes at each end to pack it up or down.Great purchase!

We got this for sleeping in our bongo - the flattened seats are really uncomfortable - so we needed something to make it more comfortable for our regular bongo over night excursions. We have found this mattress good - it is thick enough to give us a comfortable nights sleep without being too big, heavy and bulky. I find it is best to put the mattress in situ and leave it to self inflate for a few hours and then you only have to top it up by a few puffs to get a comfortable nights sleep. It is very good quality and well made. One slight issue is that it is a bit slippy and I have found it best to put a sheet over it - this is more comfortable and not a problem for me to use a sheet.Overall a goodbuy and will last for years I think.

Great item. I find it difficult to sleep on a roll mat so getting the 5cm version was a good move for me.Be warned that it is narrow, so make sure you are aware of the width of your shoulders compared to the width of the mattress! That aside, the narrowness helps to save a few cms, which can make all the difference when packing for a trip away. You can also fold the mattress in half (long ways) and then rolling up; this could save space depending on what size you need the packed up version to be. Be aware that it will be very difficult to pack bag into the sack it came with and to take out - I found out the hard way and ended up ripping my sack. All in all, great product, great value for money.

It's probably a five star product but I've knocked it down for the sheer size of it when packed on the motorbike. Nice and light, does the job a treat and has set a new record of giving me two uninterrupted night's sleep - unlike every lilo I've had go down on me. Two more nights and I'll have paid for it out of inflatables I've not had to buy.The thickness of it works well although parts of me still rest on the ground. I've worked around this by adding a basic foam mat underneath, which also serves to help prevent a puncture. For trips away in the car I'll probably invest in a nice fishing bed as weight won't matter, but when it does for the bike this'll be going with me every time.

Just used this for a 4 days camping trip and was very impressed. In the past we've tried Single & Double Premium Airbeds which have always lost air through the night leading to is waking up uncomfortable and the hassles of inflating them again before bed. This thing was firm throughout and was great insulation from the cold floor. Packing away is simple but takes some strength, we've done it twice now and it goes back into the bag with room to spare. The golden rule is the bigger you are the thicker the mattress you need (Ours took a combined 30 stone and 7.5" was fine), but the thicker the mattress the tougher it will be to pack away.

So far so good. Cheapest price I could find for this item, and it is indeed very comfortable as a double or folded over as a narrower 10cm single.Good full body support after its Inflated, but I added a few breaths to firm it up a little afterwards (optional). Supplied with carry bag and a small repair kit which hopefully I'll never use.Leave it stored inflated with the air valve open under a bed, or upright in a wardrobe, or flat in the loft, wherever you have space, and only roll it up just before taking it anywhere else to get the ensure full benefits and good inflation!Just ordered another for my partner and daughter.

I was searching for a long time for just such a product.Took a while to get sufficient air the first time. Had to top up with my mouth. However, the air remained in it for the duration of 9 nights and was exactly the correct level of firmness. I am 6'2'' and had no problem sprawling out on this mat at night. The underneath of the mat didn't slip around and neither did my body on top.Very quick to roll up again when finished.Yes it is pricey, but after spending many years suffering uncomfortable camping sleep, and countless stupid air beds, this was absolutely worth the expense.

Ok so I've used this a couple of times now, the problem I was having was with the cold coming up through the ground well this mat completely solved that problem it is so comfortable, I'm 6foot3 and 16 stone and found there is plenty of room on it and I cannot begin to explain how comfortable it is its like sleeping in my bed at home, it is quite large so you will have to fit it to the outside of your bag and it does add an extra bit of weight but it's totally worth it, it also feels very strong if looked after I can tell it will last me a few years absolute bargain at this price
