I cannot believe I'm actually writing a review for a pen. However, if ever a pen deserved it's very own online review, it's most certainly the UB157.I typically only write when I'm studying, to help me absorb the information I'm reading, I'll often have to put it to paper myself, to put the information into a method I can absorb easier, should I ever need to re-read it. This often results in me filling up whole notepads with nonsensical ramblings as I try and make sense of the information. The UB157 is definitely my pen of choice, it has a good weight behind it, and is the right size - so even on my most studious of days, I can write a tonne of pages and not have my hand cramp up,where other pens let me down before I've even filled in a page. The UB157 is really comfortable, even without one of these 'rubber grips' other pens seem to be rather obsessed with recently, and that's the most important thing about a pen for me.In addition to this, the pen has never let me down. It puts ink to paper consistently and fluidly, until it has no more ink to give. The nib width is just right for me, and the pen has never leaked. It's pretty much my perfect pen. My only complaint was the cost, in other outlets, I was expected to pay £7 for 3, which arguably, the pen is worth. But Amazon's price for 5 is spot on. Awesome.

Firstly I have to say that these did not arrive in a blister pack as advertised BUT that is no problem at all to me. They were securely wrapped in a plastic bag and sent in a postal bag. All pens arrived safely and in good time.I absolutely love these pens. I first started using them when I did my degree in 1997 (I went back as a mature student and mom of 2 boys). Since then I haven't used any other type of pen! I started using the 157's, but now I have the 150's too. The pen is comfortable to write with and the ink flows smoothly and controlled. I love writing with these! These days I write in a journal, plus my Filofax. To tell the truth even though I have both types of pen,I like using the 150 Micro as I can write that little bit smaller in my Filofax (I write about my whole day on a week on 2 pages diary). This is as well as meetings, appointments, birthdays, anniversarys (you get my drift). I read somewhere that these pens are the most used and popular worldwide, and I can honestly believe it! If you are unsure about buying these wonderful Japanese pens, I urge you to go for it. You won't be disappointed at all. Amazon has the cheapest prices, and I for one will not be going anywhere else to buy these fantastic pens. 10/10!!

...£4 for the pack (at the time of writing).♦ UB-157♦ 0.7mm♦ Pack of 5 (all the same colour)INK COLOUR : BLACK♦ Stainless Steel tip♦ uni-ball eye♦ LIQUID INK♦ ROLLERBALL♦ Mitsubishi Pencil Co. Ltd♦ Made in JapanThese come supplied in a chunky blister pack measuring around 7.75 cm x 19.5 cm x 2.75 cm.Each comfortable, round-barrelled pen is GREY in colour with a silver-coloured cap clip and measures around 13.75 cm in length allowing for the slight protrusion on the end of the cap, which indicates the ink colour ~ as does the 'flash' on the barrel. The pack states MEDIUM/0.7mmThe pens state FINE.In practice I find them fine enough for the work I do - they are reliable and smooth.A little dryingtime needs to be allowed to avoid smudging particularly if using non-matte paper or underlining with a ruler, in my experience. The cap can be put over the base when in use, if required, and the clip stops it from rolling around if you put it down on the table briefly. The barrel states that the ink is 'WATERPROOF/FADE-PROOF'.From the back of the pack:'What is SUPER INK?:~ Fade resistant ~ Water resistant ~ Tamper proof'Also currently available as a pack of 5:

The only pens I like to use. Why? Because the flow is consistent, I can cross my T's dot my I's without a problem, instead of shaking the pen up and down or rubbing the pen to get the ink to flow like normal biro pens. I don't have to shake, or rub this pen for it to work, just pop off the lid and start writing. Most pens that I've used before, especially biros and pens that take ink cartridges have dried up inside the pen, that doesn't happen to this uni-ball pen, that doesn't happen to any uni-ball pen that I've used with the same consistency. I've been using this brand since primary school - that was over 10 years ago, I'm not in higher ed. They never let me down. Please don't discontinue this range!Thank you for these type of pens, they're great!

I've used these pens now for years, I have a nice Parker pen that's been gathering dust because these are just perfect. Lovely vibrant ink that really stands out, is very permanent on paper and the pens last a long time (a year in my hands in regular usage).I'm a leftie, so ink pens have always been the bane of my life, however the ink on these pens dries very quickly and doesn't smudge so they're absolutely perfect to get that high quality ink look and feel (biros just feel cheap especially on important documents) at a very good price. As soon as this pack runs out I will instantly buy another and will continue to use these pens until they stop producing them.

I really like these pens and I can quite easily say that they are the best liquid ink pens and I've tried all of the popular brands. These ones seem to have a consistent ink flow and rarely go wrong. They last a long time and are relatively inexpensive for what they are. They are very comfortable to grip and I have no problem writing with them for long periods. I prefer these slightly over the similar Pilot V-ball pens, which sometimes stop working, have a much less consistent ink flow and last less time. These pens are great and you can get them in several different colours for various uses.

i have been using these pens since i was a child, 15 years on - they still make them just as good. the design of the pen ie. look, has been redesigned a few times but it's still fabulous. it writes well and never gets stuck. i only use these pens. now, all grown up my job and studies require me to work in design with flawless sketches. they're not so great if you are writing on thin pieces of paper as it's an ink based pens; but i use them on a sketch pad, drawing paper or on my moleskin to jot ideas down. i love them! :)

I love these pens, which flow beautifully smoothly and have a strong, glossy colour. They last for a long time, even if, like me, you write reams every day. One does have to remember to give the ink a moment or so to dry, or it will smudge, but for me this is worthwhile in order to get the handwriting control they provide. I am left-handed and find it difficult to write smoothly or neatly and these pens definitely help. This is an excellent price, too, especially if you add them to another order and get free postage.

These are great pens! I've been using these pens for a long time and they are just perfect. They have never leaked and the nib is very smooth. I got the black ink version and the ink is a nice deep black - great for writing or drawing. The ink is also waterproof so can be used with confidence for example for addresses and will not wash off in the rain! I previously used the UB150 which have a finer nib but I found that size a bit scratchy on some papers. These are also great value for this multipack. Recommended.

I'm not a great fan of disposable pens—they contribute to environmental waste. However, I've been using these for years, as they last, seemingly, forever. We have one in the kitchen used for shopping lists, memos to the cat, etc., and it's just about finished after five years of constant use. They do tend to get 'borrowed' often, but it doesn't matter too much, as they are a really good value product. They write well, the ink is fairly smudge-proof, but it does take a fair while to dry on modern 'optik' papers.

I’ve been using this design for many years, and have been immensely happy with it. For some reason I can no longer find this product on the high-street without being committed to buying a set with mixed coloured inks, or being faced with a shade of red that is undesirable for the style of work I do. In desperation I have resorted to a bulk buy of what I like to use, knowing that the ink is most unlikely to give up on me during the life of the pack.

Excellent pen with a premier nib. Good for writing in exams (even as someone who has the misfortune of being left handed). Strong line and easy to write with. Only problem is that it can be uncomfortable to hold after long periods. Which is not ideal. Additionally it is impossible to swap out the ink after the contents have ran out however this is not a problem as the pens do last for long periods of time with heavy use. Good Product.

I bought 5 black pens and was surprised to receive it without packing... Still it looks new and unused so I won't moan too much. Pens themselves are really good. Maybe the best pens I ever had. My handwriting is quite horrible but these pens make it more legible and neat. I get pain in my hands from prolonged writing but with these pens writing is very smooth and easy on my hands. I am sold. Highly recommended.

These pens are extremely pleasant to write with. The ink dries quickly meaning no more smudges or stains on my palms after writing, and the friction of the pen is probably just about right for my writing style. The only downside to these pens is that the ink runs out rather quickly and I am not aware that you can buy refills, meaning you would have to buy more pens. However, a great buy overall.

14.10.2012

I love these pens. I'm a writer so pens are important! They write really smoothly and you only need to press very lightly which is great for people who have a lot of writing to do or (like me) have Repetitive Strain Injury in their wrists. The ink is quite heavy so on very thin/cheap paper it shows through too much to write on both sides of a page, but with most paper it's fine.
