Once sentence review: Despite the flaws, this game is superb and a must-buy for any motorbike racing fan.Long review: My review of the original TT Ride on the Edge game was summed up by the phrase "one trick pony - luckily the one trick is very good." The same can be said for this second release. It's fantastic and an essential purchase for any fan of motorcycle racing, but there is still a lack of polish and a huge gap between the quality of the TT course and the other offerings in the game. The handling has improved and the Mountain Course still looks wonderful. The sense of speed is impressive, winding your way through the trees along a twisting ribbon of tarmac is a joy to behold.I find it impossible to believe any player will complete their first laps of the circuit without falling off their bike countless times. At first it seems impossibly hard, especially for those more used to short circuit car racing games. But it isn't a frustrating experience. It's difficult even on the easiest settings, and that's how it should be. When - if - you finish a lap of the TT course without falling off, it is incredibly rewarding even if you're minutes off the pace of the leaders. The game is built around the TT, which is superb, but the other elements of the game suffer in comparison. The other circuits are acceptable rather than impressive. You have to gain experience on fictional venues in the UK and Ireland before entering the TT, and the tracks on offer are frankly nothing special. Not terrible, just unremarkable. Some are clearly influenced by elements of real circuits like the NW200 and Dundrod, but they certainly aren't true to life. A licence for some of the real road racing events would be beneficial to all parties - authenticity for the game, and much needed exposure for the events themselves. It would make the non-TT events more worthwhile; as things stand, they are an inconvenience you must grind you way through to earn money and qualify for the TT. There is a new open world element to the game, made up of the roads which the fictional tracks are made of, but it offers limited value. There is no vibrancy to it, just you on your bike riding on empty roads. There are challenges that slowly unlock through career mode but they feel like an afterthought. The bike handling is better than in the first game, but in truth there just aren't enough bikes to choose from. Superbikes and Supersport machines are included, as are a handful of classic bikes. Even the lower-powered machines are probably too powerful for the beginner (they definitely are for me); it would have been nice if Supertwins were available too, many real life road racers start learning their craft on these bikes. Superstock would have been good too, with the option to enter it in Superbike races as happens in real life. The addition of these classes would have made the whole experience more authentic - enter multiple classes of race during the same event. As it stands, the TT only has races for Superbike/Senior and Supersport. The classic bike selection is extremely limited - it would be nice to have bikes from the 50s and 60s.Other than when racing on the Mountain there is a distinct lack of polish to the game. From the initial tutorial this becomes apparent - in the tutorial the speed "fades" in and out while it tells you what buttons to press, a frankly idiotic idea which pretty much guarantees your first moments of the game will see you coming off your bike almost immediately. Menus are not as intuitive as they should be - something as simple as redefining the controls becomes a chore (for me at least, I spent five minutes working the thing out). Racing the TT course you are "helped" by arrows at the top of the screen indicating the next couple of corners, but even glancing at them is foolhardy - your best bet is just focus on the hundred yards ahead. And there is no photo mode - a glaring omission for a game based on a sport which lends itself to striking images. The strange thing is, just as with the first game, none of these flaws really matter. The game is all about the TT, which it does very well, and that's the most important thing. I hope the game sells as well as it should and the publisher is willing to invest in a third game on the next generation of consoles.

First up - if you liked the first one, it’s worth getting this one.If you hated the first one, don’t bother getting this because it’s still more difficult than playing mario karts with your mum.Pros:- looks gorgeous, some of lighting effects and gradients are cinematic; Stock bikes are slow but are ungradeable for when you faster; weird oversteer crashes are gone but in their place are crashes through hitting bumps while crossed up or braking too hard; bikes real much more “real” in their reaction to bumps and camber changes; easier to control bike meaning mistakes are recoverable rather than terminal.Cons:- no real world circuits apart from tt however the made up circuits look better and aremore interesting because of the bump and gradient reaction; you have to do career mode to get upgrades as the stock bikes are slow, this was a problem for me as I just like doing timed tt laps; wind noise has changed from constant roar to a sort of swishing sound that I don’t like; somehow a little of the sensation of speed has been lost, maybe it’s just the sound; menu navigation seems a bit clunky but then I am very old.Overall I’m more than happy with version 2 and will waste many hours on it. More so as all racing has been cancelled. Who’s up for a virtual tt in June?

I will never ride the IOM TT but am a great fan of the guys who do.I am not an experienced gamer and I find the controls a bit on/off. Throttle is like a switch but the brakes don't seem to have much effect. The steering is not very sensitive seeming to take a long time to start to steer then it over steers. Practice will hopefully make perfect.

We are novices to the PS4 console bought for Christmas but thought we would try a racing game so we could both participate and get used to the controls. The time trials took their toll due to crashing every minute or two ;o) It's super fast but has great graphics. I'm sure I will improve over time but it's a great easy game.

Takes a while to get used to new riding style which isn't as good as the first to begin with but you get used to it.Setting g up gamey is a bit of a pain.

If you love bikes you will love this game. It captures the excitement of the TT perfectly but without becoming too much of a sim.
