My wife and I bought the Trunki BoostApak Travel Pack Booster Seat specifically for travelling! My wife and son just got back from a 6 week trip to the USA wherin the got a chance to put the Trunki BoostApak Travel Pack Booster Seat to the test. She was able to use it on the international flights from UK --> France -->USA, no problem. She was not able to use it on a domestic flights from Wash.DC --> Wisconsin, it seems each Airline Flight Attendant has their own interpretations of FAA Guidelines. My advice is to print out the fine print from the airline and carry it with you. It will save loads of hassle if you have it in black and white from the airlines specific website,or better yet from the Country's Airline Regulations website, for example, in this case: the FAA.As for car travel, My wife had a friend loaning her a carseat for the first two week of travel, so only used the Trunki BoostApak Travel Pack Booster Seat then for a 15 minute car ride. This was great for the short journey. My wife used the Trunki BoostApak Travel Pack Booster Seat as primary seat in Wisconsin for about 4 days of her 2 week trip. My Wife ended up going to local store to by another seat. My son would not stop undoing the seatbelt and climbing around the car. In all fairness, the age listed on seat says from age 4-12, and my son is clearly not the recommended age of 4 yet--although he is the size of a 4 year old. My wife had to keep stopping along the side of the road to put him back in the Trunki BoostApak Travel Pack Booster Seat. A very frustrating journey for her indeed. My Wife found the Trunki BoostApak Travel Pack Booster Seat invaluable while staying at the hotel at the tail end of her 6 week journey to the states. It was great to boost him upto the table and she used it in conjunction with a travel cloth bag highchair to secure him so he didnt slide off.Now that they are back home (for a few days) we have used the Trunki BoostApak Travel Pack Booster Seat in a taxi and it works out great. (Seems the shorter rides work better with our son!)Over all great idea. I would not use it as my primary everyday chair in the car, because I would prefer something a little sturdier with better impact ratings. However, quick trips in the car/taxi/bus etc work great. Also, for airplane travel he was much more comfortable in the booster seat. He was at the right height to eat, watch the built in TV, sleep, etc. Allin all, Just brilliant for air travel!

This product is amazing, taken now on two trips abroad, one even to America and all I can say it deserves it's 5 start rating! It's too heavy for my son to carry when it's full (he's 4) but he took his Trunki and I got the back pack/car seat as my hand luggage. It does look quick bulky and doesn't fit as much stuff is as I'd like (unlike my normal hand luggage would) but as it's a seat base it is fixed so no give on the sides but I'd rather have it as a sturdy car seat with limited room, rather than loads of a room and a flimsy car seat.Inside I have managed to fit in a change of clothes for my son, some wet wipes, magazine/colouring book, crayon's, DSI,and my purse and docs - has a good net compartment on the lid so you can store your docs in here and access them when and as required without having to route through the whole pack. Only thing to note is that you generally have to open the whole zip to access inside but other than that a great concept. As a car seat - can't fault it, great little handles pop up from the side add some stability to it - so your child doesn't slip off, great design so they sit correctly, good little attachment that you thread the seatbelt through for more control and safety near your childs neck. Also note if you need anything out of the back pack before you turn in to a car seat you need to take it out first as no access inside once it's a car seat and your childs sat in it ;o)Pro's: *Great Car Seat, *Good weight, *Well padded shoulder straps, *Inside compartment, *Easy to change from back pack to Car Seat.Con's: *Limited storage space, *Limited colour's (would have loved a Bernard Bee to match our Trunki), *Have to undo whole zip to access the contents.Overall great product, so if your travelling abroad and need a car seat for your little one I'd go for this one - will save you loads as now car rental companies are charging around 10Euro's per day or $10 per day in America plus tax!

We now have two of these, I was waiting for my youngest to reach the right weight. One green, one pink. We can now travel by plane without a massive Britax car seat for the hire car at the other end. Hurraaaaaaaaah!!It is quite heavy on its own (that's because you want it to be sturdy), and since you probably don't expect a very little one to carry your allowed 7kg of hand luggage in there, you might be happy to know that although it's not massive, snacks, a few colouring books and beloved comforters and a water bottle will definitely find their spot in there. The mesh pocket inside could do with being a single pocket, not a skinny one you can only keep the instructions in and a larger one.The instructions could be printed onto the fabric itself, on the opposite side, save the trees, people, save the trees! The mesh on the inside of the straps do prevent the bag from slipping, however, it is painful when the children are wearing tank tops, and to be honest, when you're traveling and the kids start kicking up a fuss about that when you're already carrying the equivalent of a 49ft container in your hand luggage, you have your laptop bag over your shoulder, your boarding passes and passports between your teeth, your handbag around your neck, and the security guys ask you to remove your shoes, and stick your electronics in the tray for the scanner, you may want to curse at those lovely Trunky people... But then you remember what it was like to get a Britax birth to 18kg seat THROUGH the scanner itself, and you're ready to hang those Boostapaks around your big toe instead of telling the kids to JUST GET ON WITH IT!!Do get one. It's a great thing to have.Edit: one year on a strap broke. I had to sew it back on, do watch out. Still love them!

After buying a Trunki suitcase a couple of years ago and loving the concept, design and sturdiness of this product, I was delighted to see the Trunki BoostApak designed and manufactured by Trunki, when looking for a travel car seat for our holiday to Mallorca. I knew it was going to be a good product and being an engineer myself I was not disappointed. We used the Trunki BoostApak on the plane, so that my daughter (who's 3 but weighs over 15Kg) could see out of the window with her seatbelt on. This was ideal especially for the take off and landing as previously she was too low to see out of the window and kept trying to remove her seatbelt. Once at the airport we got a taxi which had no child booster chair. So it saved us time trying to find one from another taxi. By the time the cases were in the boot, we were securely fastened in. This was the same on our return back to the airport. The taxi driver on our return was very impressed with this seat asking where we'd got it from.Another reason why I love this product is the seatbelt retainer strap. This keeps the seatbelt located just above my daughters shoulder and not around her neck. Safety is the main importance. We managed to fit enough stuff into the seat to keep my daughter occupied for the flight.Overall I recommend this product and the Trunki case to all with children.

We bought 2 of these for a recent air trip to France. After reading some marketing bumph about how good they were for the kids to sit on in the plane and see out of the window and have the lap tray at a sensible height I made the mistake of sitting the children on them before take - off with their lap belts on. This was a big no no with the cabin crew and we were asked to stow them in the overhead lockers, which was fine, but that's where they ended up staying for the duration of the flight. The seat belt signs went on and off for most of the flight so the children always had their seat belts on and there was little chance to get the packs down. Their solid shape doesn't allow them to be very easily stowed under the seat in front. In the hire car they were in use as booster seats so again no chance to use the contents the children had carefully packed. It seems like the quality has been improved compared to some of the problems mentioned by other reviewers. It's ashame they don't come in different colours as there were a couple of squabbles over whose was whose until we put some distinguishing features on them. All in all a nice idea but not quite as practical as I had hoped for.

For holidays or taxi journeys the seat is practical and portable. On the seat itself the seatbelt guides seen secure and it is good to be able to adjust the shoulder strap highs. On holiday, when wearing shorts or swim wear the velcro used to attach the seat back to the base in bag mode can irritate little legs as the velcro scratches.I had no problems with fraying straps, despite having filled the bag to capacity. The straps are adjustable to fit adults and children, but the width of the bag may seen bulky to some children. The bag has a large compartment which can fit enough for a flight or day out. However you have to be organised as in car seat mode the child's full wait is on the opening. When taking the bag out for the day it was helpful to put it on a chair when eating out for a make shift dinner booster. EIn theory the seat is approved for use in flight. When allowed to do this it helped allow children to see out the window. However, there was inconsistency about if the product could be used with it being allowed out of the country but not on return flights, even where the same airline was used. All in all a much longer lasting product than the child rideon case.

We was stuck recently as to what to do when we went away for a weekend break in Dubai as we knew the taxis wouldn't have car seats. So we purchased this boostapak and played around with it before we left.It was so easy to use, very foolproof. My daughter liked it although found it a little heavy (she is only 3 and 8 months). So we ended up carrying it mostly but it wasn't uncomfortable, nor too silly looking for an adult to carry, and I am sure the older she gets she will end up carrying it. She did love it, she calls it her "cat" bag - I think because it has an almost cat-like presence with its ears!We could fit in a reasonable amount of items, enough for a plane journey. This included a change of clothing, some crayons, colouring books, a magic drawing board, a brush and I am sure we could have fitted way more in including a drink and snacks, but we had those separate. She felt very grown up sat in the back of the car with a grown up seat belt on.I can see this being a great use and travel companion for many more years yet! Thank you Trunki for a great idea! Will definitely recommend to all my friends.

This is a great product for taking on holiday. We travel a few times a year and hire a car. each time we are charged approx 30-40 Euro to hire a car seat. Now my son can go in a booster this will save us lots of money each year. This is lightweight, easy to carry and you can fit toys/books,clothes in the compartment underneath. As the seat it hard on one side we put a portable dvd player in it and a DS for easy travel with my son.Once in the car, the seat belt slots in the sides easily and my son found it comfortable. The only problem, as with all booster seats, is the child cannot fall asleep comfortably as there is no head support. Trunki do sell a head support cushion separately,a combination pack might be a good idea with a discount if bought together.Lastly another suggestion is that when used as a backpack there are clips at the front as the weight of the item when packed pulls it down off a childs shoulders, if it had clips accross the chest like a backpack, a child could carry it more comfortably.

Travelling from the Isle of Man it means that if we fly and hire a car we are stuck for car seats for the kids. Previously we have taken up much needed (and expensive!) luggage space to pack booster seats, but no more!!I read previous reviews regarding the toughness of the straps, but assume this must now be sorted as they seemed strong on ours. It was great to be able to pack things away in the car so they were out of sight too, but still relatively easily accessible while we were on the road. There is a meshed back to the 'lid' that goes against you back which is fab for keeping travel documents to hand, and the kids (ages 7 and 6) found them comfortable, even on a drive of a few hours.I would recommend these even as normal booster seats, but with the ability to wear them on the plane as a backpack and for storage whilst travelling I think these are brilliant and well, well worth the money.Thank you Trunki - you've done it again!! :o)

Initially bought to use with our kids at a sporting event(s) these have proved invaluable. We needed booster seats for the stadium and also knew we'd need a day bag(s). These gave us both. The bag isn't particularly large, but managed the standard-issue pack of wipes, spare clothes and a drink. As we had two (for our 3-yr-old and 5-yr-old) we used the other bag for felt-tips and colouring books as well as our own gubbins. Result! Now that we have the BoostApaks we've also taken them with us for other days out - and found they provide impromtu boosters on trains, buses and at cafés - all of which we'd have coped with (without the bag/booster) but are far easier with the backpack in tow.Having been a little sceptical I am now a BoostApak convert! (Yes, they are expensive - but then they are doing two jobs at the same time, the engineering/design is very clever and the construction sturdy. I wouldn't complain if the price dropped though!)

This is a great invention! It is light and doesnt take up a lot of space plus you can get a few little bits in the backpack part. it is very convenient. I got mine off amazon as cheaper than the shops but went to the shops to have a look at it first. It is easy to use and great for holidays, we took ours away and was perfect! Obviously it is for the same age as a traditional booster seat but we travelled late at night so I had to sit in the back with my daughter to keep pushing her back up as her head dropped to the side when she fell asleep but this is not a fault of the booster as this would happen with any booster seat but if your child sleeps a lot you might want a high back booster but not as convenient.Very happy with the product, only used for one week on holiday and when her nan picked her up from pre-school one day but hoping it will be a great investment as seems high quality and strong

We ordered this for our 4 year old as an 'extra' travel booster seat as we were getting tired of renting 2 car seats whenever we travel. Our son loved sitting on it (especially on the plane, where he could finally see out the window easily) but he complained of the straps hurting him when he carried it. Sure enough, we took the pack off and he had a raw spot on his shoulder. We had put his toys in it, and my husband suggested maybe we souldn't use it to carry things but I figure that's part of the benefit of a booster-seat/backpack, you should be able to put things in it and still let a child carry it. My suggestion would be for a bit more 'padding' on the shoulder straps to make it more comfortable for small children to use.Other than that, we love the product and will be ordering one for our two year old soon (for use on planes only for now, and then as a car seat booster when he's big enough!)

This was a great buy, never been so pleased with a product as I was with this one. I am a nanny and the little boy I look after already has a Gruffalo Trunki which he loves and we use as his hand luggage. We were travelling from London to Edinburgh then a couple of weeks later going from there to Spain. Whilst away we were going to be using family members cars then a hire car once we got to Spain. This was a godsend. I used this as my hand luggage which has plenty of space for your travelling essentials and also a handy pocket in the flap for passport etc. When getting to our destinations it was so easy to set up as a booster seat, no problems with it what so ever, just make sure you have what you need out of it before you sit the child on top. This was great value, we will use this a lot as we are always off visiting someone.

I purchased the boostapak for use during our family holiday to the US in September as in previous years we have spent a fortune hiring car seats from car hire companies and they were pretty gross. As it was reduced to £[] I ordered it much earlier than we required it and I have used it a number of times already. It has been used on the bus and when travelling in friends cars and it is easy to use, portable and can hold a few items of clothing and a book or toy, just enough to keep a child entertained. I agree with other reviewers that the velcro closing should have flap to stop it scraping the child's leg when sitting on it. This has not been a problem in Scotland so far but in Florida my daughter will certainly notice it.Otherwise I am very happy with it so far.

This little seat has been a huge hit, with us. We have used this for travel to several countries and have found it so easy to travel with. It is easy to install, and light enough to carry through an airport, with lots of other luggage. We did discover some confusion with the seat during safety checks at an airport in India (the shape of the plastic seat belt paths, sent this seat through security twice), but otherwise it has come in so handy. We also love the fact it is great for riding with friends, and in taxis. I think it's great to have such a convenient safety device, like this. I am really happy we chose this seat over other options. Though it won't be put into daily use,I think otherwise it is a great travel option for our child.
