Excellent kit. I chose the 1915 version; because to my eye, it has the nicest profile: with the elongated spotting top an IJN style bridge. Typical with Trumpeter, the kit is not without a few problems. This means, some parts are excellent, others less-so. Fit of the hull halves is perfect-with strong bracing provided, other mating surfaces aren't quite so polished. Fit is generally as close to perfect as you can get-if you're not Tamiya. So it's good. Lips over the tops of doors are some of the finest moulding I've seen-period, the main super-deck is slide-moulded and superb and parts are thin where they need to be. In short, Trumpeter passed a benchmark and became excellent years ago,and they generally keep getting better. The p.e is a great example; 4 sheets are provided [still not enough to add rails to the whole ship]; and are leagues better and thinner than the usual Trumpeter p.e I'm used to.Negatives? The propeller shafts are warped and unusable-but this is no problem, as I was always going to replace them with metal anyway. The stabilizers mounted either side of the hull were also warped, and moulded separately: but I managed to glue them regardless, by slowly working from one end to the other with liquid cement, bracing each with about 10 pieces of masking tape as I went. Conclusion? Excellent kit. It's flaws, will not worry any seasoned builder, but may fustrate a beginner. I also hear it's pretty accurate-which is super: as Trumpeter have a very hit-or-miss record in this area. This is because it's a university-run company, with post grad students and the like designing kits-not a stable consistent team. I personally think, for their unrivaled output and choice of interesting subjects: that Trumpeter are the no#1 model manufacturer in the world at the moment. They release more kits than anyone, and instead of doing yet ANOTHER F-16 or Tiger tank...they chose to release three versions of HMS Dreadnought. Now, if only they'll tackle a 1/350 Revenge or Orion class battleship? Besides WW1, the other gaping hole left in the ship modelling market, is 1/350 RN Cruisers that served in WW2-as we currently only have HMS Belfast [also, surprise surprise-by Trumpeter]. But if anyone will fill that gap: it's most-like to be, you guessed it: Trumpeter.I'll add, there's an Artwox wooden deck designed specifically for this version of kit-it's a drop-fit, North Star make even finer 12pdr 18cwt guns, WEM make the best cage-antennae solution, and several companies make aftermarket detail sets for the 1907 version-most of which could be used on this, or the 1918 version-with few if any problems. Oh yeah, and don't worry about after market p.e for that 1915 distinctive spotting top; pretty much an entire p.e sheet is dedicated solely to the aft and rear spotting tops-with their starfish construction. In fact, much of the p.e doesn't have any plastic alternative; making this a true multi-media kit.Highly recommended.Read full review...

Amazing amount of detail and the inclusion of photo-etch is a must and most welcome, but in some cases not really necessary but that's my opinion. Built straight from the box (which will take you a long time) it becomes a very presentable model of the ship, but for the serious modeller that wont be enough who will really go to town on super-detailing. Rigging is a must but Trumpeter neither supplies it or shows the lay-out of what it should be and the rigging of WWI warships is very complex so research on the modellers part is essential. What the modeller puts into this build is what he or she gets out of it. Its worth it.
