I'm moving overseas and have tried a few carriers in prep for my trip with my cat in the cabin. This was the only one that actually met the sizing restrictions. It's excellent value (there are nicer options in the USA, at a LOT more money), but this ended up fitting the bill perfectly. It's nothing fancy, but it opens at the top easily and widely, so getting a struggling cat in is actually feasible. The base is basically a hard board covered in the waterproof material, which I wrapped with an absorbable pad in case she has an accident en route (not tried or tested this yet, but hope it'll be ok!) - this absorbent pad is harder to find the UK stores, so I ended up getting one from Amazon USA,the Bergan absorbent pad. Upon receipt, I realised they're just flat sheets of the absorbent pad with a double sided tape in each corner, a lot like the dogs wee-wee pads you can easily get in the UK, so I'd recommend just buying those and wrapping them around the base. This base is velcro'd to the bottom of the carrier.it also opens at the front, which is good for leaving open so the animal can get used to exploring it.Straps are fine as well, there's a shoulder strap and handles that velcro together. One small pocket on one end (the non-openable one) with a zipper. The zips on the front opening tab aren't great (if you're in a struggle with the cat trying to get out, they don't slide smoothly and get caught on the zip inner piping), but I'd use the top opener anyway, and those are very easy to open and close. The mesh is quite thin, my cat is not that vicious, but I wouldn't trust a cat unattended in this carrier for a whole day, they'd probably chew through it! It won't be my case here, so this is fine. If is your case, then maybe a hard carrier will be more resistant. In any case, I'm really happy with the price and it'll do the job it needs to do.It's also easier to carry than the hard carriers as you can use the shoulder strap and it's just like a gym bag, so all in all I'd really recommend this product.

Our small dog was driven over a few weeks ago and we had to find a way to get him to the vet every week. We decided for this carrier as it is made of sturdy materials and offered for me the option to either carry it as an over-shoulder-bag or like a sports bag. ;)For us it was the perfect solution to our problem as it offers a big opening on the top and a flap on the front size. I am not sure whether I would use it with a dog heavier or any bigger than our short-legged Jack Russell who weights 6.9 kg and, also, it needs a bit practice to balance the carrier and to get your pet into it.I would not recommend this item for somebody owning an easy excitable pet or a pet that does not 100% trustin you as you have to get it into the bag and though it has a little hook to connect to your pet's collar, it is very easy for your pet to get out of the carrier. Our little one really likes it as we do not have to close the top part to carry him. He enjoys looking out and being carried around by us. :) Actually, he gets toooooo used to it and enjoys it a little bit tooooo much. :)

We bought this for our foster cat, who being significantly smarter than our permanent cat (or perhaps remembering his recent neutering) was NOT keen on getting into our cat carrier (wicker one with a hole in the front). He did the whole "brace legs on the side, feline-croquet hoop" trick and it was a bit of a nightmare getting him in. So we bought this one. It's great- with the top unzipped we could pop him straight in and it is very lightweight. He is on the small side (3.5kg rather than 4.5kg for our siamese) so he fits in it fine but it might be a bit of a tight squeeze for a larger cat on a longer journey. It also packs very flat but foster cat has decided he likes it so much (it's good for nervous cats to hide in)that he now uses it as a bed. He loves it so much he is going to go off with it to his new home, in which case we'll be buying another because they are so much more practical than the bulkier ones. Definitely recommend.

I searched for 1 of these as I saw a girl in the PDSA next to me with 1. For some reason my very light older cat gains twice his bodyweight, even in this, in a carrier, so the shoulder strap is superb as we also have to get the bus. I'm also only 5 ft so a carrier is heavier and nearer the ground. He's the only who goes to the vet regulary as he's 17 with mild arthritis but it's made such a difference to both of us as it's comfier for his arthritis. The only time I had my younger rescue cat at the vet, he weighed around a stone so I needed this carrier to cope with that. However he's lost weight and never been back, thankfully that'll continue a while yet, so I haven't been able to test the weight aspect this promises. He's still much heavier than my older cat. Highly recommend.

My cat has an aversion to getting into a traditional cat carrier so I ordered this bag to see if she would be any more comfortable. It is very lightweight and folds flat for easy storage. It is very easy to open and insert your pet with plenty of space for a cat to be comfortable and able to see out through the four sides. Very easy to get in and out of the car and has a shoulder strap should you need to free your hands. No buckles or twiddly bits so I would recommend this to anyone who needs a handy carrier for journeys to the vet. Also it is washable and you could easily give it a hose out if your pet had a little accident in transit.I would recommend this product as an alternative to the more bulky hard cased or basket carriers.

I chose this item because of its light weight and because it will fold flat when not in use. I have not used it extensively and am slowlyl getting my cat used to it. She is really my neighbour's cat who has "adopted" me but they have accepted this and she now lives with me more or less permanently. Being an older cat, she is quite happy to sit in it and allows me to carry her around the house and garden whilst doing so. I haven't yet tried her out in it on a car journey which is the real reason I bought it as I envisage taking her with me occasionally when I go to stay with relatives and friends. So far,I have no complaints about the item and find it an interesting "take" on the original concept of a pet carrier.

Though made of fairly soft material this carrier is sturdy and zips open at the top. It can be left in the pet's room near the bed with the top open so that the pet gets used to going in and out and may use the carrier as an alternative bed before needing to go on a journey. This carrier has the added advantage of an attachment for a lead so there is no chance of your pet dashing off when you undo the zip. I am really pleased with this purchase which is utilitarian but also looks good. However, be warned though the carrier is ideal for cats it is only suitable for 'cat-size' dogs!

I purchased this to transport four baby Jack Russells to the vet and back. They've had one trip in it so far, for their vet check at 5 days old. I love the see-through panels on the sides because it allowed me to keep careful watch on them, and as someone with arthritis, I really appreciated the wide shoulder strap. They'll have one more trip in it, when they turn eight weeks and go to the vet for their jabs. I've no doubt this well made, durable bag will withstand the sharp teeth and antics of 4 hyperactive wee doggies. Very pleased with this product!

Bought the bag for our new kitten. Because it packs flat it doesn't take up much room and is easy to store. Gilbert (our cat) loves to play in it especially as he can see quite easily through the air vents. Very tough fabric whilst still being lightweight. Like the fact that it has 2 openings one at the side and the other at the top along with the storage pocket which is good for storing treats to distract when getting injections at the vets! Will be interested to see how it holds up when he's a lot bigger but all in all very happy with the product.

Really delighted with this product - I have no room to store the hard type of pet carrier, this folds up and fits in a small space. However, it is perfect for transporting my quite large cat to the vet when necessary and very sturdy once unfolded and I like the way I put her into it from the top and can have it open slightly so that I can scratch her neck and reassure her, but she can't escape. It is also very light to carry which is necessary as I am elderly. It is amazing value for money and I can highly recommend it. Tricia Smith

Ideal for transporting my Devon Rex cat about. Long or short trips - he's happy to get in it and is comfortable throughout the journey. It's very light but tough enough to hold the cat. Easy to get him out of it when at the vets! Folds flat so doesn't take up lots of room like the hard boxes. Not high enough for him to stand up in it. That's not an issue for him but might be if you want one for a small dog.Great product - very happy!

This is a brilliant bag ,just right for a terrier pup, small dog or cat! I think this bag could also double as an occasional holdall as well! ,it's very light and folds down well and the mesh provides very good ventilation. All in all great for the money. Not sure how it would hold out if you were running say an animal rescue and using it a lot but its certainly a good buyfor the average pet owner when they need to go to a vet ect.

I bought this carrier to transport my mini schnauzer puppy to London on the train. I had no idea how handy it would prove to be.My little dog feels safe and secure and settles down well when we are travelling in the car. It is easy to carry, and light in weight. It is well designed and folds away flat when not in use.I feel it was good value for money and several people have asked me where I bought it. A great product.

Great product at a fab price. Shopped around for a cat carrier such as this and so glad i picked this one. I liked the fact that it opens on the top or at the front making it less stressful for my very reluctant cat to go in. Lots of room and visibility so i can keep an eye on my cat as well as him on me. Also make sure you buy this product from Surepets as they are so helpful and friendly. One happy customer!!!

This was a repeat buy becausse it's such a good bag.My purchase was up to £20 less than identical bags sold elsewhere. It is light and convenient yet very sturdy and much better made than similar ones.Because it folds flat it makes an ideal "safe area" if your pet has to be away from home, or to keep away from work being done on the house. Our cat loves hers and has to be herded back out!
