I bought mine in January last year and it has seen a lot of use. It is very sturdy and simply does what ever job I put to it; I mainly bought it to grind new lathe tools from blanks of tool steel more accurately than a normal grinder and without the concern of heat build up affecting the hardness of the tips. I have also used it to restore and sharpen many knives and a few chisels, which when finished on the leather honing wheel are truly razor sharp.I had not used one of these before owning one and initially approached grinding on it in the same way I used a standard grinder, this was too heavy handed and resulted in some minor damage to the stone in the form of nicks and grooves to the surface. These were very easily dressed out and the surface restored with a dressing tool. Since then I have been a lot lighter on the pressure, letting the stone do the work, and get consistently good results from it.So far the only fault I've had was my initial operation of it so I give myself 3.5 stars but the machine gets the full 5.

I was pleasantly surprised by how robust this grinder is. The grinding wheel is perfectly centered. My favorite surprise, however, is how fast it cutting. I also bought a Japanese whetstone wheel. Now my blades are perfect. However, Triton also has shortcomings. A leather honing disc can be dangerous. The leather around the wheel is not in one piece. A machined blade regularly gets stuck in the oblique joint of that leather. The second drawback is the slightly off-angle bent guide rod. But I leveled it by force. It is a great pity that Triton does not supply a narrow knife holder. However, I bought it from a competing brand and everything fits together perfectly. I will probably have to replace the honing wheel as well.I was afraid of insufficient performance, but it is just right. Probably thanks to that, the grinder is extremely quiet. One more small warning. Continental Europeans need to replace the plug on the power cord. I always forget that the British have to live with those huge plugs.

There's always a "but"........ I bought this sharpener as it was similar to the Tormek one I had used in a previous job. Superficially it is almost the same tool, but at a fraction of the cost.It arrived very quickly to my door, well packed and seemingly raring to go. This i where the "but" comes in. When I tried to assemble the machine I quickly found a problem with the two attachment parts on top of the machine. They are held by what appears to be a small screwed bolt threaded from inside the main body. Both of these protruded into the cylinder where the support bracket is supposed to go stopping it from fitting in place. Before I could sharpen anything I had to remove the unwanted intrusion with a rat tailed file.Once operating I found it did exactly what I expected of it. The system works well and the motor runs quietly and smoothly giving a feeling of quality. The wheels are well centred and work well.Without the need for my intervention I would have given 5 stars.

Well pleased with this sharpener, there are more expensive ones out there which might be better but for the money this one is very good value. It is quiet in operation and does what it should do extremely well. I now have plenty of nice sharp edges on all my tools.Time will tell but so far very happy with it except for one thing. The one downside of this model, why oh why have Triton put the stop / start buttons on the back of the unit meaning you have to lean over moving parts to switch it off, that's a bit naughty and thoughtless.Surely the sensible thing would have been to locate them on the front where there is enough room. Triton, please take note.Otherwise ,I would have been very happy to give it 5 stars.

Pleased overall with this item, bought from Amazon Warehouse Deals. It had obviously been used and returned, but was in good shape, and had all the parts required, plus a couple of extras which I will probably not use.I used a normal bench grinder to reshape some very badly chipped old chisels, and used this grinder to put the final edge on the tools. Along with the leather buffing wheel, I now have two very usable chisels again. The jigs allow you to put a perfectly straight right-angled edge on the tip. Patience is a virtue though, don't use too much pressure, and take time to line your tool up with the right jig and you won't go far wrong.

The Triton wetstone grinder is an excellent budget alternative to Tormak. It can run for hours without the motor getting too hot. It takes standard 12mm attachments from any manufacturer. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the inadequate instruction book - it doesn’t even tell you clearly how to start and stop the machine! (Never start/stop the motor with the torque mechanism engaged) nor how to properly true and dress the wheel. For the price I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to hollow grind their chisels, gouges and plane blades. And FFX are an excellent supplier who provide good after sales service.

I got this through my sister in law, (prime) it came in under 24hrs.The grinder looks neat,it is heavy enough to stand on a tray and doesn't wobble around the bench. I have sharpened all my chisels that are really sharp for the first time. Down side for me is leather wheel, wobbly to say the least and just a plastic wheel with leather glued on it. I will make something to sharpen knives as I think the extras are expensive. I have been a fan of Triton for a long time, so just adding another of their tools to my collection.

This is a very good tool and at a good price compared to some others. Seems to be well made (only time will tell). It runs smoothly& is very stable. I seem to have sharpened everything that has an edge and it has performed really well. The only reason that I have not given it five stars is because it does not come with a dresser for the stone. A minor thing really but I would have thought not too much to ask. That said this is very good value I would recommend it to anyone who likes to have their tools very sharp.

This whetstone grinder/sharpener is excellent for sharpening and honing any tool with a sharp edge, with aid of some of Triton's accessories you can sharpen quite complicated gouge ends. With the stone being consistlantly wet there is very little chance of bluing the end. Would certainly recommend this to any woodturner as a must. The Only downside is that Triton's customer services dept hasn't been very helpful with regard to the use of some of the accessories that they sell for this tool.

I was a bit sceptical about spending my money on this sharpener after reading some of the reviews, but I am over the moon with this sharpening tool, I am new to woodworking properly and for the first time I have razor sharp chisels and plane blades, if you read the instructions and take your time setting up the jigs its easy to use and does a fantastic job, I'm glad I spent £200 and I recommend to anyone who has a load of chipped and blunt chisels to perches one themselves.

does exactly, what it says. And does it really, really well.10min to unpack it and its ready to go. Gave it the worst case , high cobalt tool steel. 15 min to do the job, that would have otherwise, taken me hours.1 1/4 " chisel that was only fit for the scrappy. Saved in 20 min.I like this - a lot.only minor gripe - the leather honing wheel, is a bit lumpy, but that should sort itself out, or I could dress it.

It seems to be well built if not quite up to the standards of the Tormek I had before. I have used it for sharpening knives and turning tools and is has proved its value. I have the original Tormek accessories and these fit the Triton well. I need to use it over a longer period to fully judge whether it should be 5 stars, but no complaints so far.

This has been so good that it has virtually made itself obsolete! Previously I would spend far too much time sharpening chisels by hand - now I use this and the blades remain sharp for weeks. Result of which is that it sits in the corner not being used! But well worth the money and has made my life much easier.

Read all the reviews and watched you tube before I bought. Yes the Tormec is a better engineered machine. The machine has done a great job and with a little bit of understanding it’s fantastic. I’m fussy so I still hand finish the cutting edge anyway. Restored old chisels beautifully. Great machine on a budget.

excellent quality machine for the money grinds a perfect edge but takes a while to get the right Technic and you need to check the rest bar is square with the wheel, and level, and so the tool your sharpening or as i found the edge will be out of square very happy with my purchase no more blunt chisels, great
