The Wifi card in my Lenovo laptop seems to have died. I tried to get a replacement internal wireless card, only to find that Lenovo make it almost impossible to replace the internal Wireless card (Google 'Lenovo whitelist' for more info). Then I came across this little beauty. It is tiny and plugs into a USB port where it can stay, blinking away with its green light. Internet speeds are the same as I had before - around 40Mbps.It comes with a mini CD with drivers on but not having a CD drive to hand it was a little annoying trying to find the right driver on the TP-LINK website, simply because there is a V1 and V2 of this device. The website recommends reading the model number on the device itself to find out the right version, but it doesn't say on this. Then I read somewhere (probably another review on Amazon) that the version number is next to the barcode on the box. Mine was V2 - presumably they all are now unless there is some old stock around.Did just what I wanted though - saved my laptop - and for just £7 (a lot cheaper than a replacement internal wifi card) so I am very pleased.

I purchased this TL-WN725N adapter to add Wi-Fi functionality to an old Acer TravelMate 244LM laptop that I am converting to run with Linux Ubuntu Mate (18.04.1 'Bionic Beaver'). As I did a totally new installation with a new SSD hard drive I thought it best to just fit the adapter to the laptop, wire it to my router and let the Linux installation find the necessary drivers. After the Linux installation I opened the laptop's 'Network Connections' feature and pressed the '+' button to 'Add a new connection'. I selected Wi-Fi from the list, entered all the necessary router details and immediately I got a solid Wi-Fi connection so could dispense with the wired connection. So I can confirm it works well under Linux in my case. I am new to Linux so don't know if it is as easy if you are not doing a new installation and have to manually find or setup the appropriate driver.

Usually needed to replace an integral WiFi capability in a laptop that has failed and so not the first one like this that I have bought. Can't comment on performance as bought for my son's laptop. He has not complained. My only reason for the lack of 5 stars is that they are not very robust. If you leave the thing in place and be careful that you don't bash it on anything when you move the laptop then maybe ok. But I have had several of these and at least two have simply fallen apart some months later. The black end cap (and with the electronics in it) comes adrift from the USB connector

Now that software is available to add Wireless LAN capability to the PlayStation Classic mini console, I was excited to try it out - but unfortunately the only WLAN adapters I had were not compatible. However, the hard work of finding and testing one that was compatible had been done for me by a video reviewer on day one of the software release, so I was able to place an order for the TP-LINK TL-WN725N after a quick search here on Amazon. The low price point, and the reassurance that it would work out-of-the-box was enough to convince me, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

A friend has a Laptop just 2 years old that loses wi-fi connection every time windows 10 updates.I bought him this and it solved the problem. It works exactly as it should despite windows 10 best efforts to disrupt users connections.Heartily recommend it as a cheap effective internet connection.Since reviewing we changed to a faster broadband only to find our old win 7 laptops built in wireless and cable connections can only pass 20mb while the service is 50mb.I tried this out in one and wow,the full 50 mb on our old laptops.Saving us several hundred pounds in replacemts

I'm using Linux (LXLE 16.04) and this wireless USB adapter worked without a problem. My reason for buying it was to overcome the speed limitations of the onboard wifi of an old netbook, and this is something that it does quite well. Not certain about how it fares in terms of what distance it'll cope with between it and the router, but that's not a problem for me here and the device costs so little that I'd probably forgive it quite a bit. Small size is a plus, it's unobtrusive and won't obstruct adjacent ports. Too early to pass judgement on longevity.

Used on an old laptop where the existing wireless adaptor could not connect to networks with modern security protocols. Operating system is windows XP service pack 3 and it installed successfully and worked perfectly without any problems whatsoever. And yes, XP is old and insecure and therefore not to be recommended for general use but a lot of configuration software for older I.T. equipment from the XP era does not work properly on more recent versions of windows. Being very small it can be left in the USB port permanently without risk of damage.

Had a couple of tries at installing then all ok. It works a treat and it hardly protrudes from the side of my laptop so minimal chance of it getting damaged unlike others I've tried. For the price, it is well worth giving it a go. I have no complaints so far!Edit... well it's now a good few months since I installed it and I have to say, it's not missed a beat. I can play movies on my laptop with no problems at all. The speed is very good too. I'm so pleased with it, I've just bought one for my wife's laptop too. I really can recommend it.

Great little device. Small, unobtrusive and easy to install.I'm using this to WiFi enable a 9 year-old PC running Windows 10. I plugged it in and it just worked, no need to install any software - Windows 10 just found the device and allowed me to enter the WiFi password and connect immediately.Easy and straightforward.Range is good. Others had suggested that this device had to be very close to the router/access point, but my access point is several metres away (admittedly in the same room), and my PC showed a full-strength signal.

Great product from TP link. Have quite a bit of their networking kit and have never had an issue and this is no exception. Bought for a friends laptop who's WLAN card wasn't compatible with the latest BT super hubs and the card in it was paired to the BIOS making replacement not a cost effective option. This however is dirt cheap and being nano there is little risk of you snapping it off in the usb slot when using the laptop as intended. Fit and forget.Good range and good performance.

Good quality device. I imagine this will be used on home computers which won't have built-in WiFi, unlike laptops.Windows 10 detected it immediately. I think it was the fastest setup of hardware I've ever done - I reckon just over 1 minute* from unwrapping the Amazon packaging, plugging it in and connecting to my WiFi network*Dependent on how sluggish your PC is, or how fiddly you find it to plug the device in...if you're USB port is hard to reach, it needs some fiddling!

I bought this to replace the nano router I was using on my Raspberry Pi 2 to get a WiFi connection after I needed to redeploy it somewhere else. I am using it with LibreElec and installation was simple with the adapter being instantly recognised and it connected without issue to my network with a strong and stable signal.I have only used this for media streaming so can't comment on its performance for anything else but works well with my NAS and other sources.

I am a big fan of TP-LINK products, and this one is great also. Bought it for an old laptop, with poor wireless performance built in. The laptop is running Ubuntu Mate (Linux), and it picks up the adapter without any problems. There can be connection issues when coming back from sleep mode, but I think this is due to a combination of the extreme old age of the laptop, and linux support for this USB adapter. It is very discrete and seems to have a decent range.

My other one died and needed replacing. It was not a TP-Link dongle.Update Oct 18: Dropped my laptop which was saved from total destruction by landing on my existing TP-Link dongle. Unfortunately the dongle was not so fortunate and met its untimely end. Up to this point I had been very happy with the thing so decided to replace it with like for like. Not so robust in a laptop plummeting scenario but more than up to the job of getting you online.

Like many people, I’ve had to spend some time working from home during COVID-19 so I had to bring my work computer home with me. It’s only when I got back that I discovered that the computer didn’t have a WiFi card, great! So, after trying a few different brands at different price ranges, I came across this little adapter - to put it simply, great product, very sturdy and easy to use! When I plugged it in, it was ready to use.Would buy again!
