My approach to this review will be somewhat all over the place as i will just say what comes to mind in the random order that it will come into my mind (?)......so:looks and sounds very goodwhat seems to be the main focus is the raw racing experience and not flag waving spectators or twinkling waterfalls.Immersion is quite apt because you really have to be totally committed to winning in pro level and beyond.Handling of cars is good and varied from car to car. Bends are dealt with by using the weight of your car appropriately and there is a great feature of being able to practise with the assistance of the team engineer who will observe your driving and tune and tweak your machine to get your lap times as good as possible. Some great reflective effects on the cars'bodywork/ windows despite the tracks being pretty straight-laced and proper a-la formula one...ie. Silverstone, Hockenheim etc.Nice A.I. detail going on with your opponents, who bear grudges and battle hard to catch you when you're leading. In Pro level and above you won't find yourself gaining the lead after a couple of laps and then heading off into a huge lead.....you have to keep pushing things to the maximum right to the end or it's likely you'll be caught and possibly pressurised into an error by an aggressive 2nd positioner...overall i'll give it a percentage score of 80 where let's say GTA Vice City would score 95

I bought this game only yesterday and I raced until well into the night!I had originally decided to get TOCA but I wasn'sure about the new Arcade style handling..too easy! I've started my Total Immersion with some training laps and I strongly advise you to do the same. I've struggled initially because I couldn' get my usual visual perspective(front of the car same as in CMR or TOCA)but I think I'll get used to it. The engine sound effect roars, corners are on average more difficult than TOCA's and you cannot relax even on the Hockenhaim long streches(chicanes!).Engeneer's advices are on the bland side though, but I've appreciated them nonetheless.Switch off the sound-track!!!Good save prompts,above-average graphics and a very realistic handling should bring this game to the top of every racing enthusiastic X-mas list. I didn't rate it with the max.points only because I am waiting to explore all its twists & nooks. All in all a great game experience...enjoy it!

Total Immersion Racing is a game I really wasn't expecting much from but in all respects it has surprised me by actually proving a very good racer. It takes a more official approach than Gran Turismo, based loosely around the Le Mans 24 Hours rules which means it's packed with recognisable cars like the great Bentley Speed 8 and the Audi R8 that has conquered Le Mans three years in a row. Graphically it's very pleasing, with nice effects, great car models and a gritty, realistic look. The handling of the cars is a little imprecise and can be annoying, but you soon learn that the key to driving fast is taking a more measured approach and from here you can appreciate the advanced AI that thedevelopers have been trumpeting pre-release.This game will not give you a new reason to get up in the morning, but is a solid and challenging racer with a well implicated career mode that will provide many hours of enjoyment. Just don't expect a Gran Turismo killer.

I thought that this game would be a cheap racer rushed out to cash in on the PS2 racer success.... However, I was WRONG!!!!It is a classic, the gameplay is good, the graphics surprisingly good for the lack of big software house name behind it. The different cars all handle and drive differently, with many really fantastic ones available for unlocking, including an extra special surprise for the last one! The tracks are detailed and accurate, with a reasonable selection and the bonus of some new ones eg. Rockingham, UK. The driving aids are well done and can be turned on or off individually at the options menu. The sense of driving realism is good, and the game has an overall shine to it missing on so many average racers.Well worth a look, and easily worth the money.Enjoy.

This game is quite good and has lots of cool cars like the Bentley EXP Speed 8 and the hat-trick winner at Le Mans, the Audi R8 (superb car). It also has good tracks such as the Rockingham Oval and (the old version) Hockenheim in Germany also it has Silverstone and lots more. But...this game just got a fourth star because once you've made your way up to the Prototypes you've done it. But back to the good points. The challenge mode is fun and so is time trial because once you've done a clean lap, the guys at the pits find a way to make your car better eg: Different gear ratios. This game is a must for people who like racing.

Bought this at the weekend. A good challenge from the off, tracks are really good (eG stunning) and wipe the floor with Toca. The cars so far are good and the handling's very sweet, I LOVE the Noble and the fact that I feel I'm not being cheated by the other drivers. This game will be a landmark, its good and growing on me. The Handling is realistic and has lots of adjustable items which I also like.Reviewed on Playstation2.
