Returning to cycling after many years (dodgy knee!), And found my old Cateye rear light no longer worked. I wanted a non-rechargeable replacement, and was disappointed not to find many around. After much deliberation, I decided on this as being the best of the limited options. It meets the requirements of AAA power, and has lots of nice flashing options. The first surprise when I got it was discovering you needed a hex key to change the battery. Upon unscrewing the battery compartment cover, and sliding it off, you're faced with the square equivalent of an o ring, to keep the rain at bay. This is substantial and impressive. I won't try it, but I suspect you could just dump the light underwater and it would keep working. It certainly looks more than adequate for keeping any amount of rainwater out. Straight out of the box, the light has a 'wearable' clip as part of the back of the unit, suitable for attaching the light to a bag if you so wish. However the main method of attachment is clearly supposed to be the seat post. The separate seat post bit is held in place by the ubiquitous stretch elastic loop passing round the seat post. In fairness, the elastic band is thick and resilient, and a spare is included in the carton. So, the unit, with its wearable clip, slides in and locks into the seat post attachment. An easy to reach and operate catch at the bottom allows for easy removal of the unit from the seat post attachment. There are a couple of holes in the seat post attachment, which look like they are for screws, but I can't see what use they are, because the seat post attachment has no means of angle adjustment. In other words, you can't adjust the light angle up or down, you're stuck with the 'natural' angle provided by the attachment, and the angle of the seat post. This may or may not be a problem for you. The light patterns are the usual disco type, along with blinking and steady. Slightly annoying is that the unit doesn't remember the mode you last used, so you always have to cycle through to your favourite next time you switch on. The brightness of the unit is impressive, and you will definitely be seen. In fact it might be a little bit too much for urban riding. Suck it and see. Apart from the lack of a mode memory, my other gripes are that the unit is quite heavy, and, due to the design, angular and bulbous. I would not feel confident it would survive a fall, given all that nice brittle transparent plastic. Regardless of this, there aren't many options for AAA powered lights anymore, so this is a bit of a no-brainer.

They are, quite literally, brilliant lights. There are enough alternative flashing light combinations to suit most tastes. The only slight downside is they are supplied with out of date batteries. However, they can still be used and changed for fresh batteries in due course.I wouldn’t mark down the light itself on that basis.I am very satisfied with this light.

I am very impressed with how positively motorists react to this light, the space I am given has almost doubled (notwithstanding the inevitable moron!) since fitting the RedLite Mega. Battery life is acceptable, even if not quite as durable as claimed.

The power is great. Good visibility and easy assembly in a Topeak saddle bag. Several light modes, it remains to be seen how long the batteries last. Another great Topeak product. The price is great considering the quality of the light.

Love this light so much that I've bought a second one! It's bright, and batteries last forever when on flashing mode. Not sure about constant, I only use flashing mode.Would recommend.

Well packaged, quick delivery, good value for money. Bright and easy to fit. Getting the batteries in can be a bit finicky but overall recommended.

Bought it thinking it was a rechargeable light but after using it constantly since I got it I am still on the first battery and still as bright.

Good light if you don't like the current fad for usb rechargeable lights. Rather fiddly to replace the batteries but works well and very bright

Good bright and well built bit of kit. Be very careful where you clip it - only use the proper tab on Topeak products other wise it falls off!

great visibility; two periodic cycles and two "random" patterns that attract attention best!
