This rack is fantastic and I'm surprised that the manufacturer's write-up and photos don't do the product justice. I hope this review and the photos I posted help raise more awareness to some great features. I installed it on my Marin Lombard with zero issues. There's plenty of clearance for the disc brakes and wheel circumference. The BEST thing about this rack is the spring feature. I recommend that you look at the photos to truly understand how it works. You can lift up the spring bars and "clamp" items between the bars and the main platform of the rack. A hat, a windbreaker, a small box...whatever. If it fits, it sits - no bungees required!Of course the rack is compatible with all of the Topeak "MTX" products (I got the Topeak MTX Trunk Bag DXP Bicycle Trunk Bag with Rigid Molded Panels), but if you don't need an entire trunk bag, this rack will hold the smaller, loose items just fine without it.All hardware required for mounting to your bike is included: Bolts, washers, lock nuts and a couple of brackets for different versions of brake lights or reflectors. This rack is only a couple bucks more expensive than the non-spring version but waaaaay more functional and worth it!

I just got the rack today and it seems to be attached. I put it on my 2010 GT avalanche problem is there are no seat stay bosses (little screws that you can't figure what they are for, they are located under the seat on the frame). So I had to think a little bit. The rack mounted to frame fairly easily, no problems with the disc breaks.Since my bike has a lack of seat stay bosses I had to use the seat post clamp. I tried to use both arms that came with the rack but i almost lost the bolt, my eye, and the use of my bike seat.Unfortunately the clamp screw is a little short and the arms are like spacer in the clamp. I had to loosen the clamp to lock it down. This left the bolt barely threaded and caused it to leave my bike with some good force. So I just used one arm to secure the rack to the frame. It feels pretty secure and not flimsy at all.Ok let's wrap this up. Fits the 2010 GT avalanche with no real problems mounting it over the disc breaks. Minor hiccup securing the arms to the frame, but nothing too difficult.Yes I would highly recommend this rack.

I have a Giant Talon 29er with disc brakes and the rack fit perfectly on my bike. The only issues that I had was that the bike frame doesn't have the specific screw holes available for the seat post braces as documented in the instructions (which are sparse at best). The instructions want you to fasten the braces directly to the side of the frame where your seat post sits or just below it in specific "rack mount" holes. The Talon uses a quick release lever at the seat post. I managed to get the braces to fit with that bolt after doing some pretty major grinding to the braces themselves. The good news is that you don't need a whole work bench grinder in order to make it work. There are grinding stones that fit right onto the end of an electric drill.I've been using this rack now for about a week and it's held up very well with at least 40lbs in a standard "backpack" strapped to the top. I would recommend this to anyone looking to add a bike rack to the back of their 29er mountain bikes.

This fits my Trek 7.3 FX Disc like a glove. It's very sturdy and seems like it will last a long time. The spring is very strong. Topeak has a line of bags that will clip right onto the grooves on top. I use it with a set of paniers for groceries and other trips around town. I've had no problems with it. Install is very very easy. I mounted the rack to the bike then bent the mounts that run to the seat stays by hand. I was concerned that because it was so easy to bend them that they may not hold shape, but they've held up just fine. I'm very very happy with this. If you've got disc brakes, this is the way to go. Topeak makes a non disc version as well that I've looked at in stores. It is exactly the same with the exception of the bottom mounts. Otherwise it's identical. Get this! you will love it.

Explorer bike rack.. Well made, nicely finished.. Fit my Motorized 29er XC/commuter bike, with 8inch disk brakes, easily with the use of an (XLC seat post rack mount).. Which made only a slight bend in the mount rails necessary for the rack to ride level.. I post pics for those who can't read! For those with small frame bikes etc, these mount adapters that go on the seatpost come in all sizes, make the job easier and cleaner looking.. Quit sniveling and use common sense when you buy this stuff.. If you have any?Measure the diameter of the seat post or tube, buy a clamp adapter! Quit whining, because NOTHING fits EVERYTHING! That is why they make adapters!

There are lots of choices, so look carefully, check the specs of each. Go with a reputable brand, it's important. Take a look at the picture of this rack, it is welded together - the way it should be. All the cheapies come in three pieces, so you bolt them together, it just bugs me the way they look, plus the bolts may get loose. Why do the cheapies come knocked down - so they can fit in a little box on their trip from you know where. This rack is one piece so it came in a large box, I am totally satisfied with it. Yes it cost more, but its worth it.

I bought this for my Giant Roam 1 and it is a very tight fit. When I first put it on the screws that connect the metal straps to the rack were touching the tires. Not a good thing. I decided to flip the screws upside down and took out the washers so the screws would have more distance from the tires. It's still a tight fit, there is about 1/4" clearance now but its very strong and firm so I'm not to worried that the screws will touch the tire. I will update this review if anything bad happens. But so far it's working fine (knock on wood).

Very good rack, suits my needs very nicely. The arrangement of the struts make it easy to fit my bags onto it.It would have been easy to fit had I red the product details and noticed it was designed for bikes with pre drilled pannier holes. Mine does not have this luxury. Instead I reused the P-Clamps from my old broken pannier and spent 2 hours trying to fit them to the pannier, didn't work. Next I bought some new, cheap, P-Clamps and that worked very nicely in 10 minutes of work.

The unit with the spring is a terrific plus. Sturdy, lightweight. Lovely. My only quibbles are that i1) the flange to attach the rear light to is slightly bent and hence the light holder will not seat into the holes properly and 2) the struts for attaching the unit to the rear of the seat are not painted and are shiny metal. It creates a glaring contrast on my beautiful bike.Other than that I was told Topeak was the best and it seems fine

This is a nice rack and fits bikes with disc brakes nicely. It's a nice little commuter rack. I would have rated it a 5, however, the integrated spring clip vibrates a bit when riding without any cargo in between. I just use a little tie down on both sides to keep it from moving. Not a big deal. I actually ended up purchasing two of these racks, regardless of the small issue.

Ordered this rack with some trepidation, having read reviews critical of the installation/fit of the rack. I'm happy to say this thing fit like a glove on my size M Cannondale Bad Boy 4. Took me all of 10 minutes to install and tighten. Took it out for a short ride and not a single rattle. Bombproof rack, easy install, clean lines. Nice!

Very pleased with this rack. Fits my Specialized with disc brakes as though it were made specifically for it. Only took 10" to install. Works exactly as described. Instructions could be better, but with just a bit of trial and error, it slipped right into place.

You just can't beat the quicktrax system with the MTX trunk bag. I see coworkers struggling with separately mounted panniers all the time and they always look enviously at me when I snap my (larger, better) bag into place in less than a second.

Love this rack ! It looks great, very well made and was easy to install. But I do wish Topeak would finish the front support brackets to match the rack rather than the Crome. Looks ok, but would look better if they matched the rack.

Almost the perfect rack for my needs, works great with the topeak bag, if you are interested in this take a look to the tourist model, I'm my case I think that was the perfect rack for my needs.
