Sadly this takes up more space then most devices due to the base . It also uses the screw to push against the bar where mounted taking out the slack from the band it is also threaded through which makes marks seen later on when you remove your equipment to sell the bike . Otherwise it was as promised . I would prefer longer bars one for 4 devices and the offset a inch or more longer . I was sorely disappointed by the footprint it took up as I had my computer on my handlebar offset post and when I put this on to mount two lights it took up so much room I could no longer mount there . I ended up making a bushing on the bar extender where the metal rod was and mounting it there so I did get 3 devices mounted but it isn't as aesthetically pleasing as I had hoped .Still functional and a good purchase . Could recommend with limitations and hope to find they make a 4 device one someday . Yes I need all those toys like a GPS , and Phone too centered with the lights . I have mirrors , bells and a horn at the left and right position where they should be taking up that space , with a basket down low :-) ! Ah bicycling in the 21st century . This is a good product just the base is big as you can see in the pictures it takes up way more room then a simple clamp from wherever you mount it . Also it does not conform to all bars only the round parts otherwise it mounts solid but looks sloppy as it is hard plastic and does not take the shape of what it is mating too . Metal to metal damages the bike finish . Still the best option out there I know of . I am buying again for another bike my first one is still solid and holding two headlights .

I bought this for touring because I use a large handlebar bag [Orlieb Ultimate 6 plus 7L] which makes it difficult to attach a headlight to my bike. The height from the handlebars to the top of the Topeak extender is 4.5 inches [~ 11.5 cm]. It provides enough height to clear the Ortlieb handlebar bag, but it could have benefited from another couple of inches to get full clearance of the downward beam. Having said that, the Topeak is the tallest extender I could find on Amazon.Other:. Mounting bracket is a little bit complicated, but solid once you figure out how to attach it [But I found it annoying compared to my other mostly Cateye accessories which have simple and flexible brackets].Survived a 200 mile cycle tour with no issues and never had to adjust the clamp. Only enough room to fit two accessories: Headlight and a bell in my case [There are other options on Amazon with longer poles that will allow more accessories]. Plenty of flexibility: Bar rotates 180 degrees and moves to side while locking securely in any position though I use it fully upright for maximum heightSolid piece of kit. Happy with it, but I would have liked the option of a taller version.

The Topeak Bar Extender is a versatile, multi-purpose, item that can be used to attach many items to your bike. It can connect to your handlebars or saddle post and can be used in multiple configurations to position nearly any way you need it. It attaches with just the use of an allen wrench, but also requires an allen wrench to change the configuration (angle, etc.) of the extension "bar". The extender comes in 2 pieces-- a base piece that you can leave permanently attached to your bike, and the extender piece which you can add/remove as you need. For example, I use mine to attach my cycling map. When I am riding without need of a map, I leave the extender at home and just the base remains attached to my handlebars.I have very few complaints about this item, other than I wish the rubber strip used to grip the handlebars/saddle post was just a bit longer as my handlebars are wider and the metal loop used to attach the base is able to scratch my handlebars unless I use something additional. Not a big deal-- just a minor gripe.

This is brilliant. Bought for the flight deck on my folding Brompton bicycle. My Blaze laser light sits atop so that it can shine and project its little green laser image of a bicycle over the top of my front-mounted, capacious T-bag. I've also fitted to the Extender my weatherproof Tigra iPhone bike console mount, thus bringing the screen close enough to be able to navigate via GoogleMaps; and I can now even tell the time from the phone as stated in microfiche at the top of the iPhone screen. My bike powers the phone from the hub dynamo (otherwise the phone battery would last about 45 seconds) so it's a great solution for alway-on satnav.Other Bromptoneers might like to know that all of this wizardry does not affect the fold. The band that attaches the Extender to the handlebars makes for a tightly rigid fit that doesn't shake loose when I'm riding cross-country on gravel. This is important because the small wheels of the Brompton make it an absolute bone shaker off-road.

The good: It is deceptively strong when mounted to the handlebars. Just looking at the picture, all you see is a simple metal strap on the bottom. Once you tighten the bottom hex bolt to the handlebars, however, this thing is solid as a rock. The middle portion can pivot about 180º around the bottom mounting area. The bar at the end can be slid half-way up and down (notice the slot in the middle of it) and can also be rotated around the hex bolt in there. Once the bolts are tight, the whole rig is solid as a rock. The bad: There is no way to get any rotational adjustment. That is to say: you cannot twist the bar at the end around the metal rod in the middle. This can result in the bar being crooked relative to the horizon.Hasn't proven to be a big problem and if they had made it so, it might have been less reliable. The ugly:Overall: If your handlebars have limited real-estate and you need to get those lights mounted, I would highly recommend this as your answer.Michael

Bought this to help reposition my cycle computer as it was set too far back when mounted on the stem and the LCD's contrast level meant I couldn't read it. This allowed me to mount it to the bars and have the computer ahead of the stem making reading the display much easier. The bracket is well made and very solid when tightened and the bar is adjustable and locks into set positions so you get no vibration or shake due to lose fitting parts. It all does up really solidly.Downsides? To adjust it the main unit angle, you have to take it apart as the adjustment screw is hidden under the bar mount... to reposition it to another location requires complete dismantling of the entire bracket and I'm not sure how many times the thin metal band will take to the bending required to remove it.It isn't a big deal really... once it's set you'll likely never move it ever.It solved my particular issue brilliantly so definitely 5 stars and definitely recommended.

I have a Trek 1.2 and finding any quality lights that fit on it are extremely hard due to the over-sized frame. Out of the box this is sturdy and well built with adequate instructions for it's use case. To attach to the bike you need to remove a screw from the base unit, and adjust the metal portion at the bottom and then insert the screw. I had problems getting the base back on at near the end of the adjustment layer, but with some effort it worked.Once on the bike you can configure angle angle on the mid bar and left/right direction from the main bar. This is important because I attached it to a vertical stem on the handlebars and angled the horizontal bar so my light would attache right around where the front reflector was.The bar is extremely sturdy and fit my light while allowing me to position it in the best spot.I can see quite a few uses for this and may pick up another for the seat. This is a great product.

How many times have you wanted to add something else to your handle bars but haven't been able to because of lack of room? Well, this is how to do that! Even though it takes up 1 spot on your bars, it adds 2. I wish it was capable of adding 3 or maybe even 4 but that would add weight to the extender and possibly cause it to slip on the bar. I have the typical hand brake clamps and the gear shifter clamps on my bar. I am also required (by my cities requirements) a sounding device, which is a signaling bell in my case. I also have my bike computer, a bike gps unit, an extra water bottle holder and 2 headlights on my bar. To put it bluntly, I have no room anymore!I used the bar extender under the bars to put the 2 headlights on because once I turn them on, I don't really need access to them. That frees up the top side to have the other items up close and easy to get to. A very good product to use!

I had to buy this because my new aerobars consume practically the entire width of my handlebars. I have one of these on my other bike too and had forgotten how hard they are to install. The aluminum band at the top-right of the photo goes around your handlebar and has holes in it. The body splits in two parts with a bolt (hidden in the photo) that has to pass through two holes in the band and thread into a nut. The problem is that you have to get the bolt through the two holes while the holes are obscured by the body. It took me about ten attempts to get the bolt, both holes, and the nut to align while pushing the body into place and blindly screwing the bolt down.If anything moves at all while you're doing this you have to stop, pull the body off, re-align everything and start again.Once it's installed it works great.Update: They changed the photo - now the aluminum band is at the bottom.

I have purchased several of these and this item is what hooked me on Topeak products.I have a bike light that interferes with the spedo so putting that light on this extension jets the light forward of the handle bar and allows the spedo to work right. Also this allows me to adjust the light as I see fit. Sometimes I want the light to aim down the road and sometimes I want the light to not shine into the eyes of the on-coming so it makes it a simple adjustment for me.I also have one mounted rear with a small headlight facing aft and I set that to flash and point that down to the road.Around here folks have rear-ended motor assisted bikes and just bikes along the roads even when they are in thebike lane in the dark,They all say they didn't see the bike until it was too late,With a topeak extender and a light flashing white rear I have not been hit so there is another good use of this.

Bought this because I was running out of gadget space on my motorized bicycle's handlebar. I thought I might use it in one specific configuration when I ordered but found the reality to be different once I actually tried the setup. Thanks to this mount's versatility I was able to go with several different configurations until I found the one that best suited my needs. This unit is very well built and provides nearly every mounting option, bar size and angle possible. In addition, the rigidity in every position was impressive. I had concerns about shake that proved to be unfounded thanks to this units strong build quality.I've mounted two led headlamps side by side on it hanging down below the handlebars and forward enough off the handlebar stem to easily clear the front of the frame. Highly recommended, I'll purchase again if I ever have the need one day on any of my other bikes.

When you need more room to put stuff on your bike and there just isn't any more handlebar space to be had, this guy works great! I wanted to mount a head light on my SWB recumbent, but there was nothing to stick it to. The Topeak bar extender solves the problem brilliantly. I had room to stick my Garmin GPS receiver up there as well, which made my smile just a little bit wider.I was concerned that the bar might be too wide to fit comfortably between my cranks. Not a problem. The bar is just right to hold a couple of accessories while still staying out from underfoot (as it were).I really appreciate the flexibility designed into the head that lets me position my "prosthetic handlebar" however I need to.Once in position, it stays put. It worked well enough that I bought a second one for my wife's Greenspeed. That one is working out great as well.

I bought two of these, one for my bike and one for my wife's bike. I needed to mount a headlight on her bike, but her handlebar bag (Arkel) was too high for a headlight normally mounted on a flat handlebar. With the BarXtender, the headlight extended high enough over the bag, but the protrusion of BarXtender and light made her worry that it could possibly impale her if she went over the handlebar. I next mounted the BarXtender on her stem so that the headlight shines beneath the handlebar bag. It works, but the headlight is skewed. The BarXtender only has two degrees of rotational freedom. Think of an airplane. The BarXtender has pitch (up and down) and yaw (left and right),but no roll (rotation around the axis of the fuselage). That's why her headlight is slanted. If the designers had allowed for + or - 30 degrees of roll, it would be perfect.

This accessory serves the purpose of supplying a mounting point for a taillight on the rear of my recumbent bicycle. There is no vertical seat post which this light would easily attach to, only a horizontal bar across the back of the seat. The bar extender clamped on very securely and the adjustable arm locked securely in an upright orientation so the light mounted easily in a perfect location. Most people would use this accessory to mount lights, computer, cell phone or horn on the front handlebars and I'm sure it would work well for that purpose. I will probably purchase another for my other bicycle for just that purpose.I would recommend this extender if you don't have enough room on your handlebars for all your accessories or if you need to get creative.

OK . . . These fit well and securely onto your handlebar and thus you then have another few inches of Bar to fit whatever you want . . . Such as extra Lights, Computer, in fact anything extra you want !I leave the Mounting Stud (Bottom 2" of the upright attached all the time) and fit the top and Tee bar when I need them for a ride or day out . . . BUT BE WARNED !Don't think of using them as Higher Bars as they are NOT that sturdyAnd be prepared . . . always be ready . . . it never ends . . . Always be prepared(If you leave the Tee Bar attached) to answer the question . . . WHAT ARE THEY FOR ! ! !Every time you stop or park up . . . That's why I remove the Top Half when I can !
