This is an ingenious idea/invention by Tommee Tippee although as many reviewers have stated in their reviews this unfortunately is not without a couple of shortcomings which if addressed and 'fixed' by Tommee Tippee would definitely make this an excellent baby product to own. It is for these couple of issues that I will mention below that I have marked it down a star rating. When you first unpack the machine you need to complete a cleaning cycle to ensure that the machine itself is clean and ready for filtering your tap water. This process took about 20 minutes rather than the advertised 10 minutes in the instruction booklet as the water tank seems to take a bit of time for the water to fill all of the way through the water filter into the bottom section of the water tank. However this in my opinion was not a negative to the product but I just thought I would mention it in case another person thinks like I did that I was doing something wrong. The instruction booklet is very clear with a step by step process (and pictures too) and describes how to set up the machine and do the cleaning cycle along with how to actually use the machine, how to stop it if needed, maintenance and descaling so I was quite impressed with the clear and easy to follow instruction leaflet. The machine has a cleaning mode and de-calc/de-scale mode which I thought is a brilliant idea and saves you having to faff around with de-scaling products. The machine is also very clever in that it detects when these things needs to be done and alerts you to the fact by lighting up one of the corresponding warning lights. The machine also indicates when the water level is low in the water tank to enable you to fill it, when the water tank is hot and when the filer needs changing. The water filter needing changing was to me one of my negatives about the machine as apparently each filter only lasts around 3 months and you then have to purchase another filter which I can understand but I think that the machine should have come with at least a years worth of filters considering the price and if not that Tommee Tippee should have offered some sort of discount on the cost of the filters for your first year as they whilst not totally expensive aren't exactly cheap at £9 a filter. The machine itself is quite large and I put it alongside our Tommee Tippee Electric Steriliser to get a comparison and it's not far off the same length and width. This isn't a problem for us as personally we store ours in the Kitchen rather than upstairs in the Nursery as I think it would be a bit too bulky to be in the Nursery unless obviously you have a large Nursery. The other thing that has put us off storing it upstairs is that when it beeps it is very loud and I think would more than likely wake up your little one if you were trying to get a bottle ready before they were due to wake for their night time feed. The actual water filling into the bottle and general noise of the machine is also loud however not overly loud and nowhere near as loud as the machine's beep noise. The machine comes with a bottle stand that you simply adjust by hooking it into the holes that are provided underneath the dispenser outlet according to whichever size bottle you are using so that there is no water spit when the water is filling the bottle. I thought that this was a good idea in that Tommee Tippee have included other hole settings than what would be needed for their own brand of bottles so that you were not automatically limited to using Tommee Tippee bottles if they were not your bottle of choice, although we do use their bottles in our household. The machine does a 'hot shot' of water prior to you adding your formula to help kill any bacteria that may be living in your formula, which I thought again was a fantastic idea and provides additional peace of mind for parents. The instructions then direct you to add the supplied lid to shake the bottle and ensure that the formula is mixed well but as only one lid is provided you would continually have to wash this each time in order to use it. We just add the teat and lid onto the bottle and use this to mix the formula rather than the lid as these have obviously already been steilised with your bottle and it is only around a minute for the remaining water to be filled once you re-press the button. We just keep hold of the lid and teet until this process is complete and re-screw it all back on.There have been a few comments from other reviewers about the quantity of water coming out of the machine being more than it should and I feel I can hopefully dispel some of this confusion/upset. Basically if you use the traditional bottle prep method i.e. without this machine and fill a bottle normally with say for example 150ml of boiled water and then add the formula to this amount and shake to mix - you will discover that the bottle has now risen to more than the original 150ml and this is because the formula changes the water to milk and as this is thicker the volume increases. Honestly my husband and I have had hundreds of 'arguments' over this with our first born in that when we were recording how much he had drank I was using the original water level measurement and my hubby was using the milk level measurement which was more. To double test/check this I have used a bottle without adding the formula with this machine and I can confirm that the water levels although minutely more than the measurement (and I mean minutely as in you can barely see it's more) are pretty much the desired measurement at the end and so I am sure that it is the added formula that pushes the level up.For exmaple:-6oz setting used - fills up to 40/45ml mark on bottle for the hot shot (no formula added) and then fills to 180ml (just over the 6oz mark) when the remaining water is added by the machine.9oz setting used - fills up to 70ml mark on bottle for the hot shot (no formula added) and then fills to 260ml (just over the 9oz mark) when the remaining water is added by the machine. Finally I also noted that another reviewer has thought that the measurements on the machine are in US oz and not in UK oz and that Tommee Tippee replied to her to ask why she thought this. I suspect she has though this as on the inside of the lid that covers the water tank there are US conversions for fluid oz to ml along with Metric conversions for fluid oz to ml which could make someone think that the machine is in US oz when it is in UK oz.The bottle temperature when finished is perfect and ergo the name Perfect Prep. Whilst a bit cooler than what our 1 year old is used to he has no problems whatsoever with drinking it and guzzles it down just like a traditionally made bottle - he has not shown that there is any difference in taste than when we used to make his bottles up in the old traditional lengthy way. The temperature is absolute perfect for newborns as it feels like it is made to be at body temperature and I am looking forward to getting more extensive use out of the machine when our second baby arrives later this year. A really fantastic invention with just a few shortcomings in my opinion (noise level, filter longevity/price and in my opinion a bit pricey for the average parent although at present priced at a much more reasonable £56.49) but I don't think that these few negatives should be enough to put someone off purchasing it as it truly is a wonderful piece of baby kit.

We loved this machine.! We used it for 11 months, 4-5 times a day and both my wife and I can vouch for its reliability and time saving nature. It was one of our best buys.It was incredibly helpful to have this during the first few weeks of night feeding and so much quicker than boiling a kettle of water in the middle of the night. How it works#######################1. Put your required number of scoops in the bottle (Minimum 4oz/scoops and maximum 11oz/scoops),2. Place baby’s bottle under the adjustable height base, rotate the dial at the top of the machine, to match the number of scoops3. Press the green button and wait for a warm bottle of milk for baby .Conclusion:###########################Theonly thing you have to remember is that most newborn babies won't be drinking 4oz per session so you're going to waste some feed, use it when baby is a bit older or store it in the fridge (as per NHS guidelines).Overall, this product gets 5 out of 5 stars from us. Highly recommended. We’ve even bought this as a gift for new parents with twins who were in the same predicament as us.UPDATE: 1 Sept 2015 - Just as our son approaches 12 months, the filter light has come on for the first time. We can still use the machine but he's just coming on to dairy milk (the cow stuff not the Cadbury's stuff), so we got brilliant use out of this of the Perfect Prep machine without having to buy a filter but the filter is only £7-£9.Below is a few more details on our usage.DETAILED THOUGHTS###########################Why did we buy it?As much as my wife wanted to breastfeed our child it wasn’t feasible especially after needing to spend extra time in hospital. and as we struggled with using breast pumps we came across across this machine which has saved us so much time and heartache.______________________________________________________How long have you been using it for?Since our baby was about 4 weeks old until he started cow’s milk at 12 months.______________________________________________________Was it easy to setup? Not too bad to setup, just a few worthwhile cleaning precautions to be taken care of at the start. It comes with a relatively simple picture guide on how to setup and use use the machine and what all the lights use. Once it’s done, it’s done.______________________________________________________Is it easy to use?Definitely.Choose how much feed you want (we use Aptimil Comfort, 1 and 2), put any size bottle under the dispenser (the bottle stand can be moved to 4 different positions) then a shot of very hot water is dispensed to sterilise the inside of the bottle, then you take the bottle out and put your scoops of formula powder in. Mix it up with the provided lid or a bottle top, stick it back under the dispenser and allow the machine to complete drawing the remainder of filtered water. You’ll now have a feed that’s at a perfect temperate for baby to drink!**Advanced Skill Alert**! Sometimes you know your baby only needs a top up of 2oz so rather than waste making 4oz we allow the machine to drop in 2ozs of the hot water and then press the big button to stop it. We’ll carry on as normal andallow the formula to cool “by hand”. Bit of a money saver when formula can be so expensive.______________________________________________________Where you cautious about anything? We were concerned the milk would be too hot or too cold but our baby like many others has been more than happy to drink it. Absolutely no issues, it really does make feeds at a warm temperature.______________________________________________________What if I make a mistake and forget how much I’m making? You can press the circular button and cancel the current feed and start again. It’s not ideal to guess how much feed you’ve put in already since it can really upset a baby’s tummy.______________________________________________________How often did you change the filter?Never. Considering we’ve used the machine making 4 - 8 oz, 4-5 times a day, every day for 11 months we’ve never been prompted to change the filter - we used normal tap water throughout. I’m surprised some customers have had issues with needing to change the filter so many times. The

I have two older children, aged 10 and 8, so a fair gap between them and my new baby. When we found out we were pregnant this time we visited Toys R Us and were given the sales pitch on this by a member of staff. It sounded brilliant, but we were wary that it was an unnecessary expense, given that it's not absolutely essential, I managed twice already without it and I was planning to breast feed this time, so figured I wouldn;t really have much use for it.But I couldn't let it go and finally convinced the other half to invest in one. I breastfed my daughter for 6 weeks and was happy with that, she's 7 weeks old now and we've been using the machine pretty much exclusively for her feeds for the last week.I do love this machine,it's so simple to use, so easy and convenient, it makes the night time feeds a whole lot less stressful; not having to listen to baby scream for 10 minutes whilst making up and then cooling a bottle etc.. At the moment we're only on 4oz bottles and they take less than a minute to prepare. Larger bottles will of course take longer, but still nothing in comparison to 'old style' preparation!I do have a couple of small issues with the machine, not enough to give me cause to stop using it, but little niggles that prevent me rating it 5*.Firstly, the machine makes a horrible, horrible claxon sound that is just too loud. I don't understand why it needs to be so loud. We originally placed the machine in our bedroom, so that I could make the night feeds without having to go downstairs, but the sound that it makes is just too loud. It wakes my partner and so we couldn't keep it in the same room as anyone sleeping. Another small issue is the light on the machine. The large power button lights up red and flashes bright green during preparation, which is really distracting and annoying and again, a reason the machine can't really be kept in a room with sleeping people. These are, like I said, just small issues that I can live with, but I do think it's fair to mention them. Also, some have said the machine can be inaccurate regarding the amounts of water it dispenses, and the reviewer who has replied saying this is untrue and that they are mistakenly counting the increased volume due to powder, I suppose both could be right, but in my experience the machine DOES occasionally not give the correct amount of water. This is not to the degree of 2 oz extra or missing, and I don't think the difference will cause any problems for baby (mine seems happy) but after reading the reviews I tested the machine myself by running a few water only bottles (so yes, water + powder = increased overall volume, but no, I'm not an idiot, water on it's own gives me the right to leave this review and be confident it's accurate). I found that running a 4oz just water bottle would more often than not come out at around 4.5oz, though, sometimes it hits bang on the oz mark and it can be anywhere inbetween. When I take baby out of the house I take a bottle of boiled water in her bag, along with a sterilised tub of powder that I can just pour in and make up as and when needed, so I do not use the machine at all for this.To make my night time feed prep quicker and easier for me, I also keep tubs of pre measured powder in sterilised tubs beside the machine, along with my little lineup of sterilised bottles.I've had none of the issues that some other reviewers have mentioned with the machine not working, mine seems to operate fine. When we set it up we ran the clean cycle, which took a little while, at first we thought it was broken, as one of the lights took forever to go off! When it was ready we were very pleased with it. The machine has saved me a lot of time, it makes bottles at a temperature that my baby accepts with no issue or arguement, and despite it being noisy and annoying with alarms and flashing lights, I wouldn't be without it now.I would recommend this product, though I would advise you run a few water only bottles yourself to double check that it's giving correct amounts. Despite one reviewer stating that it's not an issue, it IS.

We breastfeed our baby, she is 3 weeks old, but like most, we find she needs to be supplemented with formula because she cluster feeds and comfort feeds.I brought this item per a work colleague's recommendation, but knowing we were planning to breastfeed I didn't expect to be using it.Finally, two days ago, we started to use it.Set up is slow. First you have to fill the reservoir, sans filter, with cold water and do a cleaning cycle, which can take up to ten minutes. It didn't seem to take anywhere near that time but I was otherwise engaged with cleaning and sanitising bottles. Then you have to submerge the filter in water until it stops releasing bubbles, and then fit the filter. What took the longest time was once the filter was in place, filling the machine up with water, because it drips through the filter slowly. You fill the reservoir with ordinary, cold, tap water.Once this was done and our "filter timer" was reset, it was ready for use, and I admit I was a little excited to do so, I love gadgets and this was a new gadget. It is really easy to use.You place a bottle under the spout and having pre-selected what amount of formula you want to make up on the dial (you can choose 4fl.oz to 11fl.oz) you press the big power button and a red light starts flashing whilst a "hot shot" of hot water is dispensed. Once this is done, the flashing stops, the machine beeps and you have two minutes to complete the next step, that being adding and dissolving the formula powder. If you do not complete the next step within two minutes, the machine beeps to tell you to discard the formula solution you just made, I guess this is to ensure that the formula is completely sanitized by the hot water and the child is not exposed to any harmful bacteria. You add your scoops, pop on a lid (one is included, along with a 150ml bottle), and shake the solution until the powder is dissolved. You then remove the lid and place the bottle under the spout again to be topped up with cold water. Essentially the same as the "hot shot" except this time the water is cold and the light is green. Voila! A perfect temperature bottle all ready in less than 2 minutes. Tommee Tippee recommend you always test the temperature of the liquid on a sensitive part of skin to make sure it is the perfect temperature, but I've yet to have one too hot or too cold. The machine does seem to make a little over the specified amount. It seems that although the selection dial is in fluid ounces, the machine actually works in millilitres, as 1fl.oz = 30ml, and on the bottles, the fl.oz markers are just below the ml markers. So don't worry. It does seem that the machine makes 4.5fl.oz when you ask for 4fl.oz, but this is because of the markings on the bottle, if you look closely you will see that, in this case, the fluid actually sits perfectly at the 120ml marker, so you are given 4fl.oz when you ask for 4fl.oz.The drip tray is adjustable to four different positions, to fit any and all bottles, not just Tommee Tippee. They do recommend that you have the neck of the bottle as close to the spout as possible, so keep that in mind. The tray is held by hooks and is extremely easy to remove and reattach at an alternative height as and when needed. The machine, itself, is fairly light and compact, so it won't take up much room. It has a smaller footprint than our

We had twins and have been using cartons to make our life easier. Unfortunately, they start to be expensive and we had to switch to powder milk... There is no way we would have been able to do the recommended bottle prep (boil kettle, wait 30 min, add formula, cool it down in the fridge) and then this little machine appeared on Amazon....An absolute Life saver. I don't know what is all the fuss in previous comments about the machine dispensing more water, it is common sense that if you add 5oz of water to 5 scoops of formula, the liquid will slightly be more than 5oz...Our twins are not patient and being able to make a fresh bottle in 1.30min is priceless. Some tips we accumulated, using the machine 16 times in a 24h period :-)- When you have done the initial clean cycle of the machine and fill up the tank with fresh water, be patient. It took 15 min for the "tank empty light" to clear up, this is because the filter is new and dry and the water has to go through it. You can put the filter in a bowl with water before hand to speed up the process.- When the hot shot is dispensed, wait 5 more seconds, some more water will drop down.- some formula can be thicker (we use Aptamil Comfort) and can block the teat if you shake the bottle at this stage (Avent bottle don't have caps like Tommee Tippee bottles so we need to keep the teats on). Instead, do a swirl motion with one hand so the formula dilutes with the water without going in the teat. I usually remove the teat then to see if I can see "bits" floating around and if I do I swirl the bottle a little longer.- If you take too long (easy to be distracted), the machine will make a loud beep and the light will switch red which means that if you press again, a hot shot will be dispensed, not the cold water. What I do in that situation is put a empty glass, press the button so the hot water is dispensed, and then put back my bottle in the machine and press the button again (light will be green).- The machine will not work if the water in the tank is more than 25 degrees. You will get a warning before hand, when this light is flashing slowly you know the water is getting close to this temperature. The best thing is to either store your water in the fridge, or add ice cubes (freshly made from boiled water or low sodium mineral water like Evian) to the machine, it will take 2 or 3 min for the cold water to go through the filter and reach the sensor and the light will clear. Also, especially when it's warm, don't fill up the tank to the max, just half. That way, you can top it up with cold water instead of removing all the water to replace it. Don't forget that the water has to go through the filter which is why it takes some time for the warning light to clear. The only negative I had is the loud beep which I found unnecessary. I wish there was a way to disable it because you can't have this machine in a nursery with twins sleeping, it just wakes up everybody. Instead, we have it in the kitchen now, far away from the nursery.Overall, an absolute life saver and I don't know how we would have survived so far without it. We are sleep deprived (the twins are now 2 months old) but a huge thanks to Tommee Tippee for making our life a little easier.

This piece of equipment is an absolute godsend. My wife and I had twin boys in May and thanks to this product we have been able to cope a lot better.I'll firstly mention the very small issues with the perfect prep.1. As our twins arrived early we had to feed them small quantities in the beginning, it would have been great if the machine was able to make feeds which are less than 4oz, but as the bottle making process took so little time we didnt mind that we had to waste some milk.2. The noise of the machine is not a major issue as our twins are normally awake when we are making bottles, but this may be an issue for those who have other children in the household who are sleeping.3.Another very small issue is the water level not being very easy to see on the side of the machine, but there is a warning light to remind you to top up the water, so again no a major issue.I'm sure that there is some easy way for Tommee Tippee to remedy these small issues, they may decide to make a perfect prep 2, in which case I'm happy to offer more ways that the product could be improved upon...for a fee. :-)Now to the positive elements of the product.1. As the process takes 2 minutes, we are able to make a bottle and have it ready for screaming babies within a very short space of time.2. As the process is basically done for you by a machine it means that a consistent approach is taken to each and every feed. There is no need for guess work or checking that the bottle is at the right temp, this is especially useful for new parents who worry quite a bit when making bottles.3. The water is filtered which means that any impurities are taken out of the water first.4. The 'hot shot' of boiling water at the beginning means that any bacteria is removed from the formula.5. The machine puts exactly the right amount of remaining water into the bottle. Some other reviewers have stated that the water level is not correct, but I can vouch for the machine and say that it is correct. The water is then at exactly the right temp. It does seem a little on the cold side, but we're happy to rely on Tommee Tippee's expertise. The twins seem to enjoy the milk so thats good enough for us.6. Finally, the machine looks great, and can be easily carried upstairs if required. It also has a number of warning lights for water level, descaling etc which are very useful. It might be an idea for Tommee Tippee to design a bag for the machine to go into as I'm sure that the machine will be taken with if we go to the in-laws etc.Overall I would say that this product is fantastic and I would have been happy to have paid more for it if the price had have been higher. It is rare that a company will take a chance and get involved in a process such as bottle-making as it is a process that has to be 100% right due to the fact that you are feeding infants, so I commend Tommee Tippee for being an inovator and designing a product which is so revoluntionary. Its the type of product that Steve Jobs would have invented if he had been involved in the baby market...he would have named it the iPrep. Don't hesitate, buy this product, it will be one of your best purchases.RD

I am a second time mum. I breast fed my first baby until he was 7months, and was planning to do the same with my second baby, but unfortunately was not able to do this. At 6weeks we had to change to bottle feeding with formula. I hated having to make up the feeds fresh as it took so long to cool down and with a screaming baby this is not pleasant, especially as I, and my daughter, had been used to having breast milk on tap. I didn't really like making up the feeds for the day, as the advise is not to do this, and I was finding it really time consuming. Then my husband discovered the Tomee Tippee perfect prep machine.I must admit I discounted it at first for varying reasons;1- I use Avent bottles and didn't think that they would fit.2- I didn't like the thought of adding the water after the formula as I didn't think that it would give an accurate water/ formula ratio.3- I didn't like the idea of making up a feed with only cold filtered tap water. However, after reading a couple of helpful reviews, and asking a few questions I soon changed my mind. The perfect prep machine is brilliant for the reasons listed below;1- You can use any brand of bottle. As I stated above, I use Avent bottles with the machine and have no problems at all with it.2- The machine adjusts the amount of water it uses to the amount of formula that you need, always giving the correct ratio of water to formula.3- The way in which the machine works is to first put a shot of boiled water into the bottle which you then add the formula to. This shot of hot water is enough to kill any bacteria that might be lurking in the formula powder. You shake this up to dissolve the milk powder and then put the bottle back under the water spout and it adds the rest of the water (cold) needed to finish the feed. This cold water then cools the milk down enough so that it is at perfect drinking temperature for your baby.4- The whole process only takes 2minutes. It's genius. I wouldn't be without it.5- The machine is really simple to use. You select the amount of feed you want to make up using a simple dial. (4oz is the minimum. This wasn't a problem for us as our baby was already 6weeks old when we started to use it. )You then add the correct amount of formula and give the bottle a shake to mix it up. Put the bottle back on the machine and press the button again, and the machine decants the correct amount of water. Shake the bottle again to mix the hot with the cold water and away you go. Perfect temperature milk for you little baby.If you are planning on bottle feeding your baby, I think this machine is a must. It is a little pricy, but we found it for £48, which for the amount of time that we are going to use this, is a bargain.Pros- Fast, perfect temperature milk for your baby. Simple to use. I find that I waste less feed, as it is ready for when my baby wants it.Cons- The initial start up of the machine is a bit time consuming but you only have to do it once..... The machine also beeps quite loudly to indicate when the milk is ready. It's not a problem, it's just a bit annoying.I fully recommend this machine. Don't worry about it. Just buy it.

We had previously used ready-made milk, then found out my son was lactose intolerant, so needed to switch to a prescription formula which was powder. When I found out all the faff involved with making up a bottle using a kettle, I went straight out and bought this! I must admit, I really miss it when I'm not home. Last weekend we were at friends for the day, and had to keep boiling the kettle a couple of hours before needing a bottle in order to get cooled boiled water, then boil it at time of making in order to sterilise the powder before mixing with the cooled boiled water... Alot of faff basically! With this machine, all you need to do is select the amount in oz that you want to make using the dial on the top of the machine, place the bottle under the dispenser and press the button on top... This dispenses a shot of boiling water, where you then add your powder to, and shake to mix, then re-place under the dispenser for the second shot of cooler water in order to fill the rest of the bottle. You then have a bottle at the perfect temperature in about 3 minutes - Perfect! My only negatives to this...- When pouring the boiling water shot, it will finish dispensing the shot, and indicate that the bottle is ready to be removed, however after a few seconds delay a small amount of water will fall out, so if your hand is there reaching for the bottle it will burn you. I've had this a few times now, and so have to wait for this second drop of water before removing the bottle- It doesn't always make the amount it should do. Sometimes it will dispense a perfect 7oz bottle, however other times it will dispense 8oz, even though it is set to 7oz. I have read other reviewers mention this before, and had had friends say the same thing. I actually got an exchange for my first one for doing this and the extra leaking of boiling water, however the second one does the same thing, so leads me to believe that it is a design flaw rather than unit issue. Online feedback suggests that this is due to varying types of milk used, because of the consistency of the milk, which I could understand, however we use the exact same milk day in day out, and it still gives varying amounts in the final amount between feeds- It's sometimes hard to see the water level in the machine due to where the tank sits. In certain light, it's easy to mistake the base of the reservoir tank to be the water line, when actually the tank is almost empty. This is only an issue when the water is just above where it needs to be to set off the low-water light, so at a quick glance you would think there is more water than there actually is- It's very expensive for what it is. We got it on a Prime special deal, which was 60% cheaper than it's standard retail price. As much as it's a brilliant and time-saving product, I don't think I would have paid full-price for it

This is a fantastic idea. I have been through the stage of having to boil the kettle, wait for it to cool, or make the milk hot and fill a jug of water several times until it is cool enough, sometimes with a hysterically crying baby. The machine really does do the job. The instructions are easy to follow, no tricky steps to remember. Less fuss, just fresh milk at the perfect temperature. When you first get the Perfect Prep, you have to go through a first time set up, but once this is done, you need not do it again unless you don't use the machine for more than 2 days. Tip - you really do need a big container to catch all the water that is filtered through the machine the first time, otherwise you will end up with wet worktops/floors, trust someone who knows! The design is excellent - nice, clear indicators for water level, filter status, cleaning, and maintenance. The red LED's will illuminate to alert you if there is an issue, and these are easy to see. The spacing for small and large bottles is sufficient, and you can move the drip tray to suit the required bottle. When making the milk, you must first put in hot water. This is generally enough to dissolve all the milk powder. Whilst you're mixing the water and powder, you have a small time window to add the rest of the water. I find that there is enough time to do this. If you take too long mixing, the machine will beep, which means it's no longer possible to add the rest of the water as it isn't effective by then. Once the rest of the water is added, it easily mixes with the rest of the milk. The temperature is just right. My baby has never had a problem drinking it straight away. The machine can be quite loud when in use, but it isn't enough to be a nuisance. It seems like a standard feature of water dispensing machines, as my coffee machine makes roughly the same noise. My baby likes to watch the machine whilst we wait for the bottle to fill, he seems pleased with it as he knows his milk is coming. After a while you will need to replace the filter. So far though, I have not personally had to replace mine. The filter warning light came on, so I bought a replacement filter. The filter light will start flashing (rather than remain solid) if it needs to be immediately replaced. My replacement filter has been sat in a cupboard for weeks as the light is not yet flashing. This means there is plenty of time to get a replacement filter if needed.Aside from making milk, I have found this machine generally useful for dispensing water when you need to use 'boiled, cooled' water in certain situations. I have been able to mix my baby's Gaviscon and provide drinking water this way.I am very happy with this product and will be passing it along when I have finished with it.

While not revolutionary, this is an extremely handy piece of kit which truly makes an impact during those night feeds. With our first daughter, we were told a number of different proceedures on preparing bottles until we eventually relented, picked the common sense way of finding what worked best for us. Before then we had suffered many long, restless nights of feeds which saw both of us wandering down the stairs at ungodly hours to clean, scoop, heat, cool, test, rinse, repeat. If we'd had this device back then it would hav saved a lot of time and stress. This time around though, our newest baby is breast-feeding well but due to allergies and the fact that she's almost 6 months,it's about time we got her off the breast and onto formula. If you've read the descriptions, you'll know that this device adds the correct amount of water at the correct temperature, and while I've seen some people mention that the amounts of water blasted into the bottle are not accurate, I have not seen any issues with this. I wasn't too sure how it worked from reading the descriptions, but once received, the instructions are clear, and it's very easy to use. YOu can fill up the 'tank' in the morning and depending on the age and voracity of you child, you should get a full day's use out of it. Typically I fill it again before going to bed, even if there is still water left inside. Basicaly, you add your bottle into the machine, and set the dial to the amount of milk you want to give (5oz, 6oz etc), hit the start button and you get a blast of hot water which keeps everything sterile. Add your formula, put it back in, and the bottle will be filled to the desired level with cold, sterile water. Take it out and the bottle is ready- right temperature, right amount. This should take 2-3 minutes, depending on how fast you are at scooping formula (easier said than done at 4.00 after 8 nights of no sleep). The cleaning cycle is quite handy too, it's good that these types of products are ensuring that hygeine is top of the list of priorities, and Tommee Tippee are leading the market in this field. Naturally it looks great, and comes with a bottle (a spare filter would have been nice), and I haven't found any issue with how loud it is no louder than our kettle anyway. Plus, we use it downstairs, away from the bedrooms, and with doors closed there isn't an issue for us. It may seem like just another piece of kit, but it's definitely one which will save you a lot of pain in the early days, and if you're not willing to fork out for one, stick it on your baby wish list and drop hints to the in-laws.

at first I didn't believe it would be that amazing, but after struggling night in and night out with a screaming baby whilst waiting for bottles too cool down enough to be drank, I gave in and finally payed the (what I originally thought was) ridiculous pricing for this piece of equipment. It arrived the very next day in which I selected and I ordered the item in black.Firstly it looks smart, it isn't overly big either so would fit on most surfaces and it's not something you really have to put together. The instructions included are clear, easy to read and have great pictures to show how things are done. Before I could use my perfect prep machine i had to run a cleaning process which was veryquick and simple and didn't need anything major for it.There are also tons of buttons down the side that light up if the water is too hot, the machine needs descaling, is running low on water etc etc. this is so handy! It also tells you when the filter needs changing.Now.. Here is the best bit.So say I want to make a 6oz bottle.Usually I would have to boil the kettle, pour it in a bottle, shake it without burning my hands, and then wait 20 minutes for the bottle too cool down whilst my daughter is persistent on screaming until it is ready..With the perfect prep, you can set the machine to pour 6 oz, but no worries if next time you only decide to do 4, you just change the dial, so simple and easy, almost like an old fashioned telephone! The machine then releases a hot shot, you then add your formula powder. This hot shot is a shot of boiling water that goes in the bottle to dispose of any bacteria in the powder. You have 2 minutes to add the powder or it will not let you continue to make that feed as after that two minutes, if you haven't added powder, the hot shot would had cooled down too much and won't do its job, a handy tool again. Then after you've added your powder you press the button again and the rest of the water is added, but this time at perfect room temp. When the bottle is complete the prep machine beeps to let you know. You then shake the bottle and test it on your wrist! Although I can guarantee it will be at the perfect temperature for your baby. This is all completed in roughly 1 minute. It's so quick, so easy, so clean and so smart.I now believe that it was worth every single penny I payed and I would recommend to any mums still using formula or have newborns. Especially new mums! Don't make the work harder for yourself! But this! It won't let you down.

I really really like this appliance!I took a long time to decide if I wanted this or whether I could manage with kettle and cold water in a jug.My husband and health visitor poo pooed it so I put it to the back of my mind. After scolding myself pretty badly making a bottle the traditional way I decided to order. I'm really glad I took my time as as of dec 1 it was available in black which looks so much better in my kitchen than a big ugly white machine. Significantly more expensive than white, nearly £60 more which is a bit of a con but its not noticeable in my kitchen (and actually looks quite good!)so I don't mind the price difference. The instructions are really easy to follow and I was up and running in 10 mins.It takes a little while for water to go through the filter which isn't explained and should also be stressed because if allowed to get low and you replenish the water it won't work for 5 or so minutes but this is the purpose of the low water warning light.Essentially you pick the size of feed required on the dial and put the bottle in the machine. This produces a hot shot of water to which you add powder then put back in the machine and it will add the correct amount of cold for that particular feed. You haven't got long to put your powder in, if you are too slow it won't give you the cold and you have to start the feed again, a good safety feature (but you have to be pretty slow for this to happen).Someone on here was complaining about the use of ordinary cold tap water in the machine for the cool shot and that almost put me off buying but surely that's what the filters for??? Also lots of complaints about the loudness of the beep, it's less loud than a microwave beep and I think if you were multi tasking which is often the case with kids you might forget you'd even put the bottle on if you were tired or distracted so I have no issue with the beep like other reviewers.I actually expected it to be a bit quicker, the flow of the cold is quite slow, don't see the reason for this but maybe it's a safety feature or prevents bubbles in the feed? Also the temperature of the feed is lower than I would normally make but again I can appreciate this as a safety feature and my newborn seems quite happy. It's much quicker easier and less stressful than the normal way and I think that's what's important, anything that can keep stress levels down with a newborn is worth it weight in gold! I highly recommend!

when I first saw an ad for this product in a baby magazine I wanted to know more and buy one... and I am so glad that I did. It isn't necessarily the cheapest product you will buy but it is worth every last penny in convenience and ease of use - no more racing to get a bottle made and then cooled while our little one screams (because however organised you are during the day there are always times when you forget to pre boil a kettle, and who wants to spend ages making a bottle in the middle of the night?!) I admit before purchasing I wavered, thinking I could just save the money and stick to the kettle/cooling routine but I am so glad I decided to hit the order button! The perfect prep machine is so quick and easy to use,we pre measure our formula powder into the tommee tippee formula pots and keep them with the sterilised bottles by the machine so that as soon as our little man shows signs of hunger we can pop a bottle under the machine, press the button, add the powder to the hot shot and shake, then hit the button again for the rest of the water to come through and it is ready to go - it takes a minute, if that! We haven't had any problem with the water oz's being US not UK (as other reviewers have highlighted), the way I see it for the minimal difference in water volume vs the powder we measure out is not a major problem at all - it isn't as though there is a huge increase in dilution and I regularly give my little man a little extra boiled water after a feed anyway so what is the difference?! Up to you though if you prefer to adjust the water/powder ratio to make it the UK oz equivalent...Re warning lights, apart from the water level low light (which hardly ever comes on, as keeping the water topped up is also easy!) we have also had the water temperature light come on once, after our kitchen got particularly warm one (rare!) sunny day. It was easy to simply empty out the water chamber and refill it again to be filtered - after all warm water can become stagnant and I certainly don't want to use potentially dangerous stagnant water in my baby's feed! I would suggest not keeping the machine near a window for this reason though - a cool corner of the kitchen would be better!Whether you use other tommee tippee products or not I honestly believe this is a must buy for all new parents, the best value for money of everything we've bought so far! I hope you agree when you get yours!

As a first time mum, I was a little overwhelmed with the bottle making process after my health visitor made feel about 2 inches tall when I advised I was filling bottles and storing them in the fridge. I was introduced to the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine and I can honestly say after using it for 6 months, I could not live without it!! There are many technical reviews so I will review based on everyday use.The machine can make a bottle from 4 ounces up to 11 ounces. PLEASE NOTE the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep dispenses the specified ounces of water. Therefore, the finished bottle can actually be up to a ounce more with the combination of formula and water. To make a bottle, simply put the formula into the bottle and place on the machine bottle stand (which is adjustable) and press the on button. This will dispense a boiling hot shot of water into the bottle designed to kill any bacteria within the formula and beep once complete, giving you approximately 60 seconds to swirl/mix the formula and water together. You then return the bottle to the bottle stand and press the on button (which is illuminated red) again and it will fill the bottle to the specified Oz with cool filtered water. Once complete, it will beep again confirming the bottle is ready and the button turns green. The milk temperature of a made bottle is room temperature. My son has never refused a bottle from the machine as he has always only drank room temperature bottles. I believe if you are making the transition from heated bottles to bottles made from the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep, you may need to heat them at first until your little one adjusts. The machine has 5 warning lights on the front of the machine;Change FilterWater Tank HotWater Level LowDe-Calc/De-ScaleCleaning ModeNote - If water tank too hot light comes on, place a few ice cubes in the tankThere are 3 action buttons on the side of the machine;Cleaning ModeFilter Volume ResetDe-Calc/De-ScaleThe machine is very user friendly and tells you when it needs the filter changing/de scaling. The user manual is very easy to follow and has a picture for each step by step instruction so you are not stood their scratching your head. A filter change and clean takes around 10 minutes. In 6 months, we have changed the filter twice and have not yet had to de-scale the machine. Once you have used the first filter, they are purchased separately -

I cannot sing the praises of this excellent device highly enough. It is an absolute godsend that has hugely improved the quality of our lives. At the time of writing (2013) the guidelines for making up milk feeds for infants is that feeds be made fresh, boiling water must be added to the formula to make the feed up, then the feed cooled down before giving it to the baby. We discussed with our community midwife the possibility of making up feeds in advance and storing them in the fridge, but apparently this is really frowned upon these days as bacteria can form in the milk. This provides some problem for the feeds, especially at night. And the main problem is time. The feeds need to be made up fresh, but boiling the kettle then holding the bottle under a running tap to bring it down to a suitable temperature can take up to 20 minutes. And at three in the morning while you have an infant in your arms absolutely screaming for food this can be very very frustrating. Not only that, but the tap water required to cool the bottle down is very wasteful and this can cost a fortune if you are on a meter.Enter the Tommee Tippee perfect prep. It will make up a feed of between 4 and 12 fluid ounces AT THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE in 2-3 minutes. And it is designed so that sterility and your baby's health are not compromised. It's a work of genius. To prepare the feed you place the bottle under the nozzle and press the button. A dose of hot water is poured into the bottle. Add the required amount of powder and give it a good shake. Place back under the nozzle, press the button again and now cold water is added to the required volume, cooling the feed. And that's it, job done. The hot water sterilises the powder, then the cold water has been passed through a special filter so that it is also sterile. So no compromise on safety. It has been designed to suit almost any bottle, so you are not locked into using ones designed to go with this machine. The only downside is that you cannot prepare a feed of less than 4 fluid ounces, but that is a minor, minor issue. Thanks to this device we can get our baby fed before he starts to get really cross, and all three of us are much happier. The person who designed this should get the Nobel Peace Prize! It's an essential piece of kit, 5 stars. I'd give it 10 if I could.
