But flying cutlery is still anyone's game! This mat is superbly designed. It sticks to all table surfaces except fabric/table cloth. It sticks to wood, plastic, marble, glass, acrylic, bamboo. Rather than buy a special bowl with a suction attached to it, this mat is definitely a better and worthwhile buy as you can use any plate or bowl with it and the suction will stick. The suction is fantastic and so easy to use and easy to clean. Peace of mind when the bowl is stuck to the mat, the bowl won't end up on the floor - excellent for toddlers learning to feed themselves and they won't get frustrated with the plate or bowl moving about when they stick their spoon and fork in it.Unless the child deliberately wants to move the plate and bowl! It is not easy for the toddler to remove the bowl from the suction on the mat. The mat has been used and washed everyday for 3 years and still works well. Easy to roll up/fold for travelling/eating out.

I've not started weaning my 5mth old yet but have started buying all of the tommee tippee bits in preparation (spreading the cost whilst on maternity pay!). Having bought all of the bowls, soft spoons, harder spoons, travel bowls, food storage pots, etc etc. I happened to come across this mat. After showing it to my husband he says "that'll never work, we'll have food all over the kitchen"......"eat your words husband"!!! The magic mat is literally MAGIC!!! The tommee tippee bowls that we've bought literally don't budge so would imagine this will aid our wee one when she comes to feeding herself. We've gone for the pink one as well as a nice aqua coloured one but its also available in a neon green and a bright orange. Our highchair is a Max Brother Scoop and there's masses of room on the table around the magic mat. 100% recommend this if you want to help your wee one be the best they can be!

LOVE THIS!It's so much more efficient I've found than bowls which already have suckers attached (and consequently warp or loose suction rendering the bowl useless for babies). This is terrific. It has good natural friction when you place it on a high chair tray. And keeping the tongue bit towards you not the baby means you can easily get the bowl off. And the baby doesn't. (And my baby really tugs the bowls and this has totally stayed put!)It goes in the top rack of the dishwasher, or is easy to hand wash too if you're in a hurry. I simply love it. As a side and unimportant thing - the colours are nice too.

This is great! The mat keeps my daughters bowls in place long enough for her to eat whatever it is she is having and gives her the independence to eat on her own. Occasionally it has become unstuck but this is usually after the meal has finished and the bowl has become a toy! I haven't had any of the issues mentioned in other reviews about it I sticking with warm food and the good thing about it is it can be used with any plastic bowls/plates not just tommee tippee. I would definitely recommend this product to any parent who is keen to promote self feeding.

Works great! We use it at home with the IKEA highchair and it fits perfectly on the tray and provides good suction with the bowls from the same Explora range. My little boy can pull the bowl off if he really sets his mind to it, but most of the time he'll use it as intended. He can also entertain himself fiddling with the little sucker when the bowl isn't in place. We've also use it in restaurants to allow him to feed himself from the table, but bizarrely not that many restaurants have highchairs that are the appropriate height to pull up to their tables.

I'd never seen this before (and I'm on child number 2...where have I been!?!) and was in the process of buying suction bowls when a couple of friends told me about this. OK so my 11 month daughter can pull a bowl from it if she tries hard enough but it definitely helps to deter her. Is a much better option than any of the suction bowls I've used in the past and I am really pleased with it.I don't have a dishwasher so don't have any issue with it warping, is still working as it was when new so maybe the trick is to wash by hand.Would happily recommend.

This is such a great invention! When it arrived I have to say I was sceptical. I couldn’t see how it would stick to the tray let alone keep a bowl secure from determined little hands. It really does work! The mat ‘magically’ sticks to the tray and can’t be moved by my daughter and the bowls stick well to the sucker on the mat, though you do have to make sure they are stuck down firmly. It is definitely an item I wish we had discovered earlier!I received this item in return for my honest blog review.

On one hand, this doesn't really achieve what it sets out to, in that the bowls don't stick very well and the mat is too small to protect the table from mess. On the other, it is unexpectedly brilliant at keeping my nine month old occupied while I'm preparing her meal and clearing up afterwards, as she loves to play with the sucker. It occupies her far more effectively than any toy, stays in place and is easily washable. So for baby amusement purposes I highly recommend this product.

This is nice and it does stay on my sons tray without moving away. Then most of the plates that i use for him stick over it and he cannot remove them and throw them. I dont give 5 stars cause as i said it doesnt do the job for all the plates which is weird for me..I was expecting bowls to stick better and so far i can place flat plates nicely but the bowls don't stick that well. I want to try with another type of bowl to see if it's the bowls in general or if it's the mat.

Great product, easy to use, wash and store - great for adding into the change bag for days out. Fits well onto the high chair tray and works well with the TT explorer range. Best bit is you only need one for all your items! The suction to the bowls/ plates works well but you do need to “dampen” the reverse side to make it stick to a table. It doesn’t stretch out of shape and is a good thickness so I would expect it to last. All in all I’m pleased with it.

We find this mat very useful for gripping our baby's weaning bowls and plates, limiting the mess she is able to make somewhat. The mat stays stuck to our Ikea highchair very well. We have had very few issues with bowls and plates coming unstuck, and they were generally when we hadn't quite placed them properly or pressed them down well enough. Our 7 month old baby pulls at the bowls/plates but isn't able to get them off the mat. Very easy to clean.

My 11 month will not let me feed her so i have been giving her lots of finger foods so needed a good suction plate. I came across this and the matching plates and have found it to work really really well, my daughter can not lift the plate from the suction, and the mat sits without slipping on the highchair tray. The mat and plates are dishwasher safe and are easy to take to restaurants etc... Great product. I would definately recommend.

This works quite well. My son can remove the plate from the mat but it takes alot of effort and thankfully he doesnt try too hard untill he's eaten all of his food. It holds just as well as the plates I have tried with suckers on the bottom so if like me you already have plenty of normal plates and bowls and dont want to go out and buy new ones with suckers on the bottom buy this it is just as good and portable for when eating out.

The mat doesnt stick to the highchair tray strongly. It is rather helping the plate/bowl not to move that much aroung the highchair tray rather than keep the bowl hard in place. If the baby wants to pull the mat (together with the bowl) it can easly do that. It works for us (my dauther is 19 months nad self feeding now). I am not using it to prevent from the bowl being removed and tipped over, but to prevent running away plate.

Ok, so it isn't actually a magic mat, but it comes pretty darn close. It keeps the dish or plate in place and makes mealtimes much less of a problem. Of course, the older the child becomes the more they will suss it out, but it is really very good. I found that it does only work with Tommee Tippee dishes and plates. It is easy to clean, does not seem to lose any of its grip and is probably worth the money!
