This thermometer is much the same as several others we’ve tried in recent years. This one is better than most because the display is much bigger. It’s quick to use, giving a reading after just 8 seconds. Readings can be made via the armpit or mouth, but the accompanying leaflet makes clear that the mouth (being a closed body cavity) is a much place to take a temperature than the armpit, which is not internal or closed. The probe is long enough to reach the base of the tongue, in a child or adult. It beeps when finished, so there is nothing to distract you from the child. The only awkward bit is the ON/OFF button on the top, which requires a firm press to operate. You do that before and after use,so it doesn’t affect the child. It just requires more force to operate the switch than seems necessary. The battery is a decent sort (a CR2032) that looks likely last years. Given that the thermometer will probably get infrequent use, you can also probably forget ever having to change the battery.Overall then, this is a practical little device, wipe-clean and easy to use. Barring that button, which is no problem really, I can see nothing to complain about. It’s not the most expensive in the Tommee Tippee range, but nor is it the best. Much quicker are the in-ear and forehead models, which read in just 2 seconds, which store 9 and 25 previous readings respectively, rather than the 1 reading this one stores. They are about 4 times the price though, so if you are on a budget then this one is still serviceable and accurate.

This is a great digital thermometer with several features which make it stand out above other brands and make it particularly good for taking the temperature of babies and small children. An essential addition to a grandparents' medical kit. Firstly the display is nice and big and easy to read at a glance. It can be used under the tongue or armpit and personally I prefer the armpit method which is far easier if your toddler is crying and thrashing about because you can slip it in whilst cuddling them without them even noticing. The probe is nice and long which makes it easy to use. It beeps when the temperature has been reached. You turn it on with a button on top which you need to press hard, but that's a good thing because it stops it being turned on accidentally. It is light and easy to pop into a bag if you're going away. It is easy to wipe clean after use, and it has a plastic protective cover. It has an auto-off switch to save power. The battery can be replaced by inserting a thin coin and twisting. You can change the display from Centigrade to Farenheit and it explains how to do it on the instruction leaflet. A versatile and useful thermometer and it doesn't break like the old fashioned mercury ones we had as children years ago.

This tommee tippee digital thermometer is an ideal addition to a new parents kit as unlike Thermoscan aural infra red thermometers this takes armpit (axial) temperature in newborns which is usually the recommended most accurate at home method. It's also handy as a back up for checking a thermoscan in an older infant or child if you are not sure of the accuracy of a reading (as a wriggle can leave you off as much as a degree!)This one is great, it is backlit for dark environments, holds the last reading if you didn't record it and has a firmer on button to prevent accidental readings (for what it's worth you press the button on and wait for Low to show before placing near a child's armpit/mouth so it calibrates properly)this one is destined for our nappy bag as an emergency thermomobob whilst out and about or at relative's (also good to check if a bath is too hot whilst away from home)My only disappointment personally is that it's to 1 decimal place which means it's unsuitable as a double purpose baby and mum, as if tracking your body basal temperature for ovulation you need 2 decimal places to notice the subtle fluctuation. But it's not enough to drop a star it just would be handy to buy this before pregnancy for both reasons!

This is a back-to-basics thermometer with a slight difference. Thermometers that take an external temperature reading, and digitally display the data, have been available for a while. This one works on the standard in the armpit or mouth basis, and displays the temperature to one decimal figure. It has to be pressed very firmly to get it to work. Initially I put mine to one side, thinking it was faulty, then I read other reviews, that pointed this out. If you have arthritic hands it might be a problem. It needs a really hard press, is popped in to the mouth (or armpit), and then you get your reading. This appears after just eight seconds, great news for those of us with memories of peering at watches,or counting to sixty for the required minute when using old-fashioned oral thermometers. The digital display is easy to read, with clear unambiguous figures. Apart from the on/off button being a bit stiff, there's nothing to dislike about this. It's supplied with a button battery. CR2302 batteries generally have a long life, so this should be ready for use every time for years to come.

Well designed thermometer with an extra large display - great for during the night when you want to keep the lights low with a poorly child. It takes 8 seconds to record a reading and you can hold it under a child's tongue or under the arm. Both of these can be a bit problematic with a wiggly child and I'm never sure with toddlers as they squirm so much that I get an accurate underarm reading. However, my children hate the in ear thermometers. I have also tried forehead infra red readers but found these inaccurate and actually the in ear ones have given erroneous readings too and can't be used on babies under 6 months, Therefore, this thermometer despite its drawbacks is a good choice for our family. You have to press quite firmly to get it to switch on. Apparently it sounds an alarm if the temperature recorded indicates a fever which is a neat feature (thankfully my daughter's temperature was not that high when I used it when she felt a bit headachey and looked red). It feels more robust than cheaper versions I have seen in High street chemists. An essential for the medicine box!

This is really designed to be used with neonates below one month of age. Older than that and I would recommend a tympanic but that is only because generally they are more appropriate and thought to be slightly more accurate. That said this looks a very high quality thermometer much more expensive looking than more pricey high street models. It is very well built with a brilliant display, records temperature in seconds and even has a moulded clear high plastic case which is near invisible to the eye and very sturdy. I have checked it against a tympanic thermometer and they gave the exact same reading so I think I can say my one at least works fine.I have given it five stars as it is a little gem of a thermometer excellent value for money as usual for amazon it was delivered on time and it perfect condition.

Very easy to use digital thermometer. I did comparative readings using this thermometer and Tempa DOT single use clinical thermometers (as used by our local hospital). Whilst there was slight differences, they never exceeded 0.2 celsius. Before and after use, I cleaned this digital thermometer with Alcotip Pre-Injection Swabs, which seemed advisable for a reusable thermometer.Which do I prefer? If just for my own use, and with the caveat about the slight differences, I would go with this digital thermometer. If using for more than one person, I would go with the single-use Tempa DOT thermometers (which have their own caveat - being single use, they create more waste).

As thermometers go, this is quite quick to produce a steady reading, which is a consideration when you're holding it in a new-born's mouth or armpit. The display is large and backlit, which is a definite plus, and it seems robust. I haven't tried dropping it on the floor but it looks like it could withstand that. The chief quirk is that the on/off button needs so hard a press that I wouldn't attempt to do it once it was in Baby's mouth. Better to start it and let it come up to ready before doing that. It says all this in the paperwork but I mention it because that's different to some other thermometers.

Easy to use!Press one button to switch on, leave under armpit and it’ll read itself and beep three times and light up before showing the results so you know when to take it out the armpit.Very accurate. It’s just tricky sticking it in your babies armpit and pressing the arm against their body to keep the stick in place. But that’s just because babies hate it!Overall I’d recommend this to everyone.I previously bought the head scanner but the doctor said it’s not right for newborns and this is the only one you need!

Great product does very well at reading accuracy of baby tempratureEasy to read/use.Dont use too often but would say battery is good.My only advise, dont get hooked on to constantly using this, always feel the baby and go from there, this can send some parents esepcially new parents crazy to constantly check but if baby is comfortable/uncomfortbale and clothed comfrotbaly and feeling the chest/back of neck is cold/warm/fine then you can generally go from there. This is just a tool and use it as such.

Used this thermometer with my five year old during a spell when she had a fluctuating temperature. It gave a seemingly accurate result, fairly quickly. It is worth noting that she was cooperative during the process and despite this I still had to check it was in place several times. If you want to take the temperature of a younger or uncooperative kid, you might want to seek an alternative!

There are hundreds of thermometers on Amazon. Thing is, the main point of a thermometer is it has to be accurate. And I'm sorry, but I don't trust all those cheap random brand one's that are all over the place. This one is also sold by many stores, like John Lewis - therefore I trust the brand. It does the job. Comes in a nice plastic protector case when not in use. Easy to use.

Usually we use a forehead thermometer, but when we are visiting relatives or are on holiday, it's far easier to pack a smaller one like this. It's easiest to use it under the armpit on our son, rather than under his tongue, and the readings seem accurate and easy to read as the screen is a lot bigger than on some others we've used in the past.5 stars.

A handy thermometer to have when both adults & children are unwell. I felt poorly & it clearly indicated my high temp.Had my child been younger though, I would've bought the in ear thermometer as this can be uncomfortable placed under the tongue. I don't think under the arm would give an accurate reading.

Total life saver and really reassured me that as my wife had Covid I was able to do 15min to 30min Observations and watch her fever rise and subside over the 7 days she suffered. It enabled me to intervene with medication at the correct moment. Was touch and go but didn't have to enter hospital.
