I used to play a ton of games back when I was a teenager and had so much spare time before adult life breached and cleared my available time to plan missions on a map and rescue hostage. This was one of my games that I spent hours, and I mean hour on. No over the top, totally unreal Hollywood blockbuster plots and buildings blowing up like COD and BF but purely bad guys have taken over X, eliminate them all and/or rescue hostages. The run and gun method doesn't work well on this, the plan, plan and take it carefully method does. That's what I missed with modern games and after looking on here at old games I remembered Raven Shield, my actual copy is still up the attic but for a few quid,I would rather pay that than be bothered searching through boxes so it came through the door. It is an old game so it will require the disc to play, that's just an old game thing that I'm used to being 28, I still find it a novelty playing a game that doesn't need the disc!Graphics wise, I play 2560 res, crossfire gpu's, watercooled i7 etc and my computer doesn't even flinch with this game at max res, I'm sure the microsoft chess application taxes my computer more than this game at max res but that being said the graphics I think look really good considering it's age. Definitely playable without a problem, some things are a bit blockier than games nowadays but that's the most obvious statement ever.Gameplay wise, this game is top notch. I get such a buzz out of taking things carefully, actually using my brain to plan how best to search rooms, where my teams should be, the quickest way in out etc. This is realism. Your first mistake and you'll get shot and lose a team member. When they die in campaign mode, you lose them for the rest of the game so the goal is to keep everyone alive, no respawns here.My only gripe is the lack of team-mate intelligence. When observing team-mates navigating to a spot where they should stop and wait, ie. behind a wall. Some team members can nudge the guy in front by mistake and him being an idiot doesn't look round the corner and gets shot. You'll fail missions because your team who are 95% of the time, crack shots suddenly walk backwards into a room trying to shuffle round each other and get capped. This drives me insane and is something that old games were bad at.That being said, on a lone wolf terrorist hunt or when you keep an eye on idiot team members, this game has loads of levels that I would class as some of the best FPS levels I've ever played and I feel it is REAL tactics. For those guys wanting something more akin to real life, than Die Hard, this is a game you should try, For such a low price, it's beyond a bargain. Awesome game.

For anybody who loves tactical shooters and missed Raven Shield when it first came out, this is unmissable! It's the epitome of a classic tactical shooter.Graphically, it's been overtaken but it still looks pretty good. It gives you the chance to play Rainbow 6 in classic style, spending hours making a complex plan before you start shooting, or going in "on the fly", making it up as you go along. You can pick your teams from a pool of elite soldiers, taking into account their individual abilities. You can arm and equip them from a huge arsenal of meaty weapons. You can jump between characters during the action. It all takes place on complex multi level maps. The terrorists are randomly placed,so you never know where they are going to be each time you start. It's fantastic and as hard as nails. Rainbow 6 was never as intricate or as tough in the later sequels. Worth every penny!

I bought two copies of this game for myself and a friend and although the graphics are bad compared to modern games this is very good in terms of weapons as it includes 64 real weapons and there is no delay between pulling the trigger and the enemy dieing as just one burst from most weapons can kill making you think the missions throughpros:realisticcan turn on auto aim if its too hardyou actually have to think ahead instead of running around firingsuper cheapcons:even with aim assist dieing is easycan glitch at the start of levels with a laptop (just delays nothing too bad)bad graphics compared to modern systemssummary:a very cheap game that is worth it for the amount of time playing campaignalone especially with the expansion packs that all come in one disk

I bought this game for about £1.70, which is ludicrously cheap, not expecting much by means of quality. The game turned out to be one of the most enjoyable pc games I have played for a long time. It comes with the two expansion packs, with extra levels and weapons, which provide more hours of gameplay. The game is fun, exciting and tense, and you need to make important tactical decisions prior to and during missions, setting the game apart from recent more gung-ho first person shooters. I thoroughly recommend this game to anyone who wants a cheap game that is just as good as more expensive ones.

I love the tactical gameplay, despite the age of this game, it still works so well. Addictive stuff.
